The Left Blogospheres Gay-Outing McCarthyism

Here are the winners of last blog-sabbaths caption contest. Winners were chosen arbitrarily by my lawyer, Rusty Shackleford.
Buckley F. Williams: In a misguided attempt to dispel rumors that he is a homosexual, Republican National Committee chair Ken Mehlman takes time to pose for the new JC Penney catalog.
Wavemaker: "....and when I saw in the locker room that Rogers and Aravosis were this big, I said to them, 'no wonder you're gay!'.."
Jack M. Redcorn: "And after I saw that Jeff Gannon was this big (cut!), I made damn sure he got his press credentials..."
Runner up goes to me, for the obvious Mr. Garrison comparison....
"When a reporter notices that the word 'penis' occurs 6,083 times in his new novel, Ken Mehlman replies, 'Well, women want to read about ding-dongs! D'you thnk women care about the details of female anatomy?! Hel-lo! Women wanna read about big, poweful schlongs!'
Of course, this caption contest was inspired by the leftosphere's gay McCarthyism.
Gay-witch hunting that still seems to take up so much time for the left-blogosphere--and trust me it's going to get much worse before it gets better.
Recently, the good folks who brought you the Jeff Gannon / James Guckert outing have set their eyes on higher office. In a forthcoming edition of GQ magazine it will be revealed that Ken Mehlman, the Republican National Committee Chairman, is their next target.
Evidence that Mehlman is gay? Well ,he's not married. He seems to be pretty clean. And no one has seen him on a date recently.
Sounds like a lot of guys I know. Most of the time I just call them loser.
Anyway, Mehlman has denied that he's gay. I'm sure this won't satisfy the leftosphere. They won't be satisfied until they out a prominent Republican. And if there are pictures--hot man-on-man action pictures--all the better.
Cause you know, all that feminists really want to see are pictures of penises. Hot flopping penises. A Redwood forest of penises......
Where was I?
Oh, yeah. Is Ken Mehlman gay?
Shouldn't the obvious answer be who cares?
There is an orthodoxy on the left that gays must be Democrats. That Republicans hate gays. That to be gay means automatic support for gay marriage.
The worst part about this orthodoxy is that gays who don't toe the party line are considered worse than enemies.
They are considered traitors.
And traitors, as you know, must be rooted out. Exposed.
It's a kind of McCarthyism. Only McCarthy was at least trying to root out real traitors--people who he believed were giving away America's nuclear secrets.
McCarthy, however wrongly he pursued those goals, at least had worthy goals. He was trying to save America from a very real threat.
Can the gay-outing McCarthys of the left say the same thing? Is the goal of gay-marriage so fundamentally important that destroying the lives and reputations of people is worth it?
In my mind the gay-outing left better take a good long look in the mirror and ask if such destruction is really worth it in the long run.
History has past judgement on McCarthy, and so too will it pass judgement on those who employ his tactics in much less important a cause.
Confederate Yankee has some more thoughts.
Update: Is McCarthy on everyone's mind, or what?

Is McCarthy on everyone's mind, or what?
What worries me is that earlier it was Stephen Hawking, and that somehow trasferred into McCarthy. I'm not quite sure what to do with that.

Will starving gay invalids have their Perrier water-tubes removed?
The McCarthy-Monster is a creature of their own Leftbat fabrication as and hysteria much as anything. Senator Joe was actually short of the mark counting the numb er oif actual Commuinists who'd infiltrated the Government. It was the the *House* (not Senate) Un-American Activities committee who bothered a few over-wrought Hollwood screenwriters. And nobody died when they lied about Uncle Joe - except for people in The Sovietlandia Workers' Potemkin-Paradise, but Uncle Joe'd been killing them for years and nobody squacked about it in Hollywood.

Ken Mehlman started this when he used the gay community as an electoral pinata.
Ed Schrock talked about the sanctity of marriage while he was cruising for man on man action in VA.
If the Repugs wanted a war with the gay community, they got one.

"If the Repugs wanted a war with the gay community, they got one."
Couple of questions here:
If being gay is ok, then why do Dems call Republicans gay as a slur time and time again?
What war with the gay community? Do they even have an army?

And just how SHOULD he have gone about it?

"It's a kind of McCarthyism. Only McCarthy was at least trying to root out real traitors--people who he believed were giving away America's nuclear secrets."
No, McCarthy used the combination of inuendo and a brief case to promote himself - quite successfully - by implying that anyone who had left-leaning political tendencies was a communist. Not everyone that McCarthy attempted - and sometimes succeeded - in destroying with his smear campaign was a commmunist, and not anyone who he supposedly "exposed", had engaged in seditious acts against US interests.
The idea that McCarthy was just a misunderstood do-gooder who was unfairly driven from Washington DC is just the type of liberal, reinvention of history that most *real* conservatives abhor.
As for Guckert, you might as well face the fact that he outed himself. He posted *public* messages where *anyone* who cared to look could find them. That is hardly the behavior of a closeted gay. The fact that liberal bloggers attacked him they way they did is probably more of a reflection of the type of reporting (cough!) that Drudge/O'Reilly/Limbaugh engage in. The bloggers actions are/were tawdry and stupid, but Republicans have proven themselves to be good teachers.
Perhaps *too* good.

"Apparently bodybagger hasn't heard of the Venona Project."
Wow! You mean the Soviet's had *spies* in the US?
Here's a freebie: Klaus Fuchs lived for a short time about thirty miles from where I am living now.
Actually I have heard of Venona, but I knew about Soviet spying earlier than 1995 because it was common knowledge that Fuchs had penetrated the Manhattan Project. If you care to visit the museum where the Manhattan Project is covered in depth, let me know and I will give you directions.
But Venona Project was not McCarthy had in his brief case. The Venona Project didn't become public until *after* McCarthy was dead. Are you claiming that Joe knew about the details exposed in Venona?
I guess his claims will be treated will be treated with the same interest as Nostradamus now, eh?

"Since when has defending 5,000 years of Judao-Christian tradition been some sort of new thing or opening salvo?"
Ok, so you've been defending poligamy all that time too? Because that's portrayed as A-OK in the Old Testament. I love the selective verse plucking you ignorant bigots do to further your agenda. There is no God, Jesus was mortal, and gay people are here to stay. The "Judao-Christian Tradition" is a bunch of mythology. Your religion is childish. Are you claiming that Joe knew about the details exposed in Venona?
No, but I am saying that the information Venona has exposed definitely vindicates him. If anything, he UNDER-estimated the number of spies in the US government.
I guess his claims will be treated will be treated with the same interest as Nostradamus now, eh?
Hey, congratulations at beating the stuffing out of that straw man there!

Ok, so you've been defending poligamy all that time too? Because that's portrayed as A-OK in the Old Testament.
Um, no. It's portrayed, because it happened. But if you'll read through all of the stories in the OT that portray it, you'll notice they also unflinchingly portray the problems that arise because of it. It's a common misperception that just because the Bible records some behavior, it condones it.
I love the selective verse plucking you ignorant bigots do to further your agenda.
You mean like selectively plucking references to polygamy? Pot/Kettle.
There is no God,
A belief that requires as much faith as does the opposite.
Jesus was mortal,
ibid.
and gay people are here to stay.
Ummm.... where exactly did Rusty ever dispute or bemoan this fact? Again, the Left is expert at tearing apart straw men based on what they THINK we conservatives believe, but have a hard time actually listening to what we REALLY said.
The "Judao-Christian Tradition" is a bunch of mythology. Your religion is childish.
Tolerance in action, folks. Give him a hand!

I'm pro-life, fiscally conservative, and gay. I fully support outing people that are hostile to gay marriage. If you will notice I didn't say gay rights, but gay marriage. Non-discrimination laws are worthless and can't be inforced so the only real fix for gay folks is marriage rights. I used to be the self-hating type up until just a few months ago. Hell, I didn't even support gay marriage. But anyway, if a person is using anti-gay sentiment for any type of gain and is gay, it isn't that they should be outed, it's they need to be outed.

Not the way nature intended. To me being gay is like any other sickness/disease/whatever. Accept it and live with it, but don't push it. just to clarify, senator joseph mccarthy was gay, and his aides roy cohn and david schine were also gay. Mccarthy was censored by the Senate after his tactics finally caught up with him. McCarthy was not attempting to do something noble. He had no real credentials as a Senator, so he decided to find suspected communists, sexual deviants, and other misfits in the government to criticize. Sounds like James Dobson and Jerry Falwell going after Spongebob and Purple Teletubbys. I can understand gays who are libertarian, but its hard to understand gay conservatives. Lauch Faircloth and Don Nickles have called homosexuality deviant behavior. Who was their campaign director? Arthur Finkelstein; a gay man who recently married his lover of many years in Massachusetts in the presence of their adopted kids. Who allowed for gays to adopt? Not Faircloth or Nickles.

Shearn Moody, he's a good old boy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"...Herb Smokler relates a story Shearn Moody told him about Roy. Moody, who is reported to have blown an inherited fortune of tens of millions, kived on a 600-acre ranch near Galveston, Texas, which Newsweek described as "part fortress, part sybaritic playground...the estate was protected by German Shepherd dogs, electronically controlled gates and bullet-proof windows...Moody installed a metal slide so he could plunge directly into his swimming pool from his second-story bedroom suite; when he invited guests over, says former aide James Wohlenhaus, 'there would be bands playing music and three or four stages scattered around the grounds on which players acted out sex acts. There was something for everybody.'"
Smokler said, "Roy was down at the ranch and wanted one of the many boys of the night that Moody would readily provide his guests who so desired. The story was that Roy had seen this person with warts on his anus and had said, 'Well, I don't care.'" In due course Smokler, who is a physician, said, "Roy had a case of venereal warts on his anus...He had been treated with podophyllin, and it's very irritating and it's quite uncomfrtable." Not long after Roy's encounter with the boy, Smokler found himself in the back of Moody's limousine going back from the airport in Houston to the ranch in Galveston. Sitting in the back seat wwas a Nixon, Mudge, Rose partner, Art Mann- and this was back when Nixon was President. Art Mann, Moody and me in the back and in the front was Cohn and he was having a very involuted legal conversation, but if you looked at him carefully leaning over the back seat, his pants and underpants were down to his knees and his anus was attached to the aperture of the air conditioner...well, it's absolutely true. I was there."... from Citizen Cohn[i/i], by Nicholas Von Hoffman, Doubleday New York 1988, p.364

At this point, there is really nothing on the DU that really surprises nor shocks me anymore. My biggest question is do they actually believe what they write, or is it strictly a knee-jerk reaction to the fact that it is Republicans that are trying to keep her alive?

Wow! You republicans really support life!
You are against murder and I'm with you.
And God will bless you, I'm sure.
There's only a tiny little detail I can't understand:
how come you all are FOR death penalty?
Is not the sixth commandment clear enough?
Which part of "Thou shalt not Kill." you do not understand?

Has Terri Schiavo killed anyone? How about an unborn child? No, they have not.
Posted by: William Teach at March 20, 2005 08:54 AM (HxpPK)
5
so what?
who are you to decide that murders should be killed, anyway?
Death penalty is a crime against God.
In a country where anybody with the money to pay a good
lawyer (OJ Simpson, Robert Blake) gets acquitted. And viceversa.
Death penalty is doubly a crime.
Posted by: paul at March 20, 2005 09:00 AM (R//4C)

Yet the democratic party supports the murder of unborn babies wholesale. Who are you to decide that that being has no right to life? Reconcile that with your flagerant use of Bible passages.
Posted by: William Teach at March 20, 2005 11:17 AM (HxpPK)
7
The precise and accurate translation from the Hebrew of the 6th Commandment is "Thou shalt not MURDER." It it was "kill," then there couldn't even be a just war, which would be contray to the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas.
Posted by: Young Bourbon Professional at March 20, 2005 11:40 AM (KnjiB)
8
Nice try.
You cannot have it both ways: the 10 commandments are very clear. Man wasn't supposed to kill, murder other men.
That applies both to unborn babies and to murders as well.
Who are you, Bill Clinton? Defining that 'to murder' is not 'to kill' doesn't change anything.
And yes, there is not such thing as a "JUST WAR".
Maybe sometimes it can be unavoidable to kill to defend themselves.
But the war should be the "extrema ratio" not just a political "tool".
Just the fact that death penalty is popular, in this time and in your country, doesn't make it right.
Besides, there are only US, China, Cuba and some 3rd world countries to support it, and that's not a group you should be proud to be in.
Posted by: paul at March 20, 2005 12:03 PM (R//4C)
9
Paul, your ignorance is amazing. "Pro-life" persons who still support the death penalty make a distinction between killing people who are innocent of crime and killing people who have voluntarily committed a capital crime. Its not a difficult thought, you should be able to understand the distinction.
And you have omitted quite a few non "third world" countries that still retain the death penalty. There are European countries like Russia, Latvia and Greece, asian countries like South Korea and Japan.
Posted by: Robin Roberts at March 20, 2005 12:50 PM (xauGB)
10
Yet, Paul, what we have here is the Democrats all for removing Terri Schiavo's feeding tube, which is, essentially, murder. Do you condone this? Because the DU'ers and the Democrats sure are.
Posted by: William Teach at March 20, 2005 01:05 PM (HxpPK)
11
Yes, you make a distinction, I see. Just because you like to do so, not because it's right.
Greece abolished death penalty in 1993 (last execution 1972) apart for crimes under military law (but in a war people kill people anyway, don't they?)
Latvia in 1999.
Russia (that is not a democratic country, anyway) has not executed anyone since Gorbaciov (1996).
I do not condone the 'murder' of Terri Schiavo. I just hope she's not suffering too much. It's very difficult to take a position in this case, but I'm pro-life.
I just wanted to point out the ipocrisy of people 'pro-life' that 'make distinctions' when they find those distinctions useful or popular.
Posted by: paul at March 20, 2005 01:19 PM (hu6bt)
12
Paul--Regardless of whether or not you consider "murder" and "kill" to be synonyms, they are not. Institutions like governments and courts of law have long seen a distinction. As does the dictionary. And the Bible--precisely my point in giving you an accurate transaltion.
I don't understand the Bill Clinton line. Did he write a biblical commentary?
Killing is always bad? Then why did God tell the Israelites to attack certain enemy kingdoms and KILL their inhabitants, like in Josue, chapters 10 and 11, for instance. And if you don't believe in this, then why do you believe the Ten Commandments are true?
No such thing as a just war? Not even World War II?
Well, What else would a pacifist say?
Posted by: Young Bourbon Professional at March 20, 2005 03:04 PM (KnjiB)
13
Well, I'm no theologist, I only express my opinion.
So, in my personal opinion, I don't take too literally the Old Testament. Too many people do so, and they can find a reason for anything... there are so many different things in those books.
I really don't buy a God that kills enemy kingdoms... come on, what is that? Olympus Gods of the ancient Greece? A Foreign Office Minister?
In this aspect, my reference to the 10 commandments could seem inappropriate. But what I know is that 2000 years ago Jesus came between us to teach what is good and what is bad.
He never killed anybody. He never told any of his disciples to kill anybody. He taught us how great it would be to be nice to people, for
a change. To love each other. To care for the poor and the weak.
And I think that many people who fill their mouths with Bible citations often forget the simple Truth of His words.
As regards the 'just war', I think that sometimes it can be unavoidable to kill to defend themselves or other people in danger. In this aspect WWII was certainly legitimately fought to defend the World from the Nazi madness. It is logical that when you are attacked, you have to defend yourself, otherwise few bad people could easily rule the world.
But that must really be the last resort. When you have a problem with another country you cannot just say "They're against us, let's defend ourlselves!", declare a war and kill them all. I find this behavior unacceptable. And even more unacceptable is declaring that "God is with us" and killing people in His name.
My reference to Clinton was a critique to the pretextuous distinction between 'kill' and 'murder'... just like in Clinton's "I smoked but did not inhale"... that's politician's talk.
The truth is that there's no need, no reason and no moral ground for death penalty, and you just keep it because it's your 'tradition', it comes from the old times, it get along with your desire to split the world between 'good' and 'evil' with a straight line. And maybe it also flatters the latent racism that still survives.
After all, I've never seen a very rich, white man sentenced to death; have you?
So, in my opinion, I find really hypocrital to be 'Pro-life' and 'Pro death penalty' at the same time.
I hope that Terri Schiavo will survive and it would be wonderful if she could recover. But, if I can be really frank, I think that you're using this tragedy only to make a political point.
You don't seem so moved when a poor or unemployed person, without mediacal insurance, gets ill and has no way to afford expensive treatments. Do not they deserve to survive in the same way?

Paul--You seem like a decent chap, and I'll bet we agree on a lot of things. You will notice in the Gospels that Christ met several military men, yet never once did He condemn their occupations, nor did He ever condemn war. He abstracted from the temporal concerns of this world and preached the Kingdom of God, bidding men to the spiritual concerns of their souls, and to make sure of securing their eternal welfare. Though temporal temporal, political, and national matters were outside the scope of His mission, He did not condemn them. He treated war as quite a normal event, incidental to the imperfectiions of this worldly existence given over to the administration of men. In Luke XIV, He says, "What king, about to make war upon another king, does not first think whether he be able with 10,000 to meet him that, with 20,000, cometh against him?" Accepting this as human prudence, He warns us to use similar prudence with God. He never condemned fighting.
The Church, since its inception in A.D. 33, has always taught that fighting should be a last resort--something too many people forget these days. Just wars are indeed getting harder and harder, with so many non-cambatants getting killed. The world is indeed in a mess. I, too, wish people could just get along. It's the eternal struggle (and challange).

I would like to ask everyone here some questions. Is it a humanitarian act to kill a dog that has been run over and has massive internal and external injuries? Is it the kind thing to kill an animal that is in a vegetated state? Does life mean just the length of life or the quality of life? If we are willing to kill a dog to keep it from suffering, should we not do the same for something more important, a human? If we believe in the quality of life, than should we not let Terri go? Is it humane to let someone live, when they cannot even do the basic of all human functions? Is there a reasonable chance that TerriÂ’s condition could ever be reversed?
The other point I would like to make is that “we” as a society, we are not killing Terri. I truly believe in the might and power of my God, that if he so desires it, Terri can get out of that bed today. According to the bible, he has done much more. So by removing the feeding tube, are we not placing Terri in God’s Hands? No doctor is injecting her, no one is electrocuting her, and no one is shooting her. She is truly at the mercy of God. And maybe by keeping the tube in, we are denying Terri her place in paradise. If you had your choice, would you rather be in paradise, or stuck in a catatonic state in a hospital bed at the mercy of anyone around you?

Very interesting points...
The Church has always taught that humans are made in the image of God (i.e., they have the capability of making moral decisions and have an eternal soul), while other creatures do not. So we cannot put them into the same category. Even secular law--up to now--notes this distinction, although the religious aspect is downplayed. Thus, it is considered acceptable to kill an injured animal with no hope of recovery in order to alleviate pain, but not a human.

Glad you liked it. The best part is that every damn word I said was true, and it just makes your little tiny brains explode, doesn’t it? Terri Schiavo is already dead. The only thing you idiot right-wingers are doing now is playing political “Weekend at Bernie’s” with her corpse. Necropheliacs.

giovannic--It's the left-wingers who think she's dead, which would make the word necrophiliac more appropriate.

Jawa Report Celebrates One Million Visitors
UPDATE: 1 million mark passed!!!!!! (PS--sorry about trackback spam.....stupid MT keeps pinging and pinging and pinging...big apologies)

Some time in the next couple of hours my Jawa will have been petted by at least 1 million visitors. It is done!!!!!! Damn, it feels good to be a gangsta!
Thanks all for the constant barage of referrals, positive feedback, and serious fun.
A few shout outs are in order.
First, the Commissar who gave me early encouragement and let me guest blog for him last year.
Next, a shout out to the OG pimptastik wicked gang. These are like-minded bloggers like the Llama Butchers, Bill at INDC, Jeff Goldstein, Iowahawk, Cranky Neocon, Six Meat Buffet, Ace, Allah, Prof. Chaos, BRD, Way Off Bass, Demosophia, and a bunch more that I just can't recall in my present caffeine-free state or who have given up the blogging gig. These are bloggers who were kind enough to throw me links early on, when I was getting like 100 hits a day. They also would show up on my site regular enough that it made a petite blogger feel like Macktastick Rusty Wicked.

Let me also thank the hundreds of other smaller bloggers who throw links my way on a very regular basis. You guys are awesome--totally awesome. As I've explained on numerous occasions the fact that I blog anonymously prohibits me commenting on your site. However, I do read just about every post that trackbacks to me. Also, if you have a post that needs a plugging, just e-mail me and I'll try to do it. I know how much it meant to me when Allah plugged an early post, so I try to return the favor as often as I can.
Last, let me tell you the six degrees of seperation for My Pet Jawa. My original inspiration for blogging came from Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs. After 9/11 a few buddies in grad school and I realized that we were pretty much on the same page. 'Boomhauer', 'Bill Dauterieve' and me, Dale Gribble Rusty Shackleford, sort of ganged up on our poor Chomskyite friend who was against the Afghanistan invasion. I think originally we started meeting in the alley for brews because we felt so out of place amongst our peers in grad school who were appalled at Shrimp-Chub-Hitler-Bush's response to 9/11. I don't know how Chomsky-lite started to hang out in the alley with us. It was probably because unlike most other disciples of the Maharaja-Chomsky, he had a sense of humor and he was into chicks. That--and his mutual love of dick and fart jokes.
Somehow or another I did an internet search trying to refute Chomsky's drivel and eventually found my way to LGF. Boomhauer and I then started a now defunct group blog. It got old quick, especially when sitemeter told us that like 10 people a day were reading it. Eventually I got a job here and Boomhauer got a job in another part of the country so we stopped blogging.
However, I didn't stop reading blogs. From LGF I started surfing his blogroll of anti-idiotarians. It was there that I found Iowahawk, Emperor Misha of the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler, and the illustrious and semi-retired Allah. The Commissar had a blog-ad going over at Allah's at the time. I visited these sites as often as I could, which wasn't that often. It was my first year teaching at a university so a lot of prep time.
One day Bill Dauterieve calls me up and says, "Dude, I'm starting a blog again." This time he would put his real name up on the blog, his CV, and all that jazz. Me? Never one to be out done by Bill, I went over to blogspot to sign up once again. But what to name the blog? How about something really offensive? Yeah. Something that only South Park fans would get. Jawas. Yeah. How about like Emperor Misha's blog which is actually at 'nicedoggie.net'? Nice Jawa? Ouch--that certainly is offensive.
But wait, let's up it a notch. I kept thinking of that stupid TV production bumper "Sit Ubu sut, good dog." How about My Pet Jawa? (Mr. Burns) Excellent. Within an hour I had designed the initial layout of the site. I chose green because it is the sacred and holy color of the Religion of Peas. That, and I sort of ripped it off from Allah.
That was a little over a year ago. Last summer a couple of blog friends, namely Simon and BRD, convinced Pixy Misa to give me an mu.nu account. I changed the name from My Pet Jawa to the Jawa Report cause I wanted to hoodwink a few unnamed websites into believing that we were a legitimate source of news. (Nelson Munz) Ha-ha! The rest is, as they say, history.
I've had a lot of good times on the way. Plenty of links from big sites like Michelle Malkin, Little Green Footballs, Outside the Beltway, Wizbang, Vodka Pundit, and others--including a solitary Eschaton link and a single Instalanche.
Plenty of more from my devoted cadre of fellow-travellers and minions including:
Interested Participant, Hans Bricks, Team Hammer, Incite, Vince aut morire, Right Wing Nuthouse, Pirate's Cove, Digger's Realm, Jeff Quinton, Robert Spencer, Dean Esmay, Scott S., Mike King, John Donovan, Captain Ed, John Little, John Henke, Chad Evans, Rob of Say Anything, Spoons, Editors in Pajamas, Goldfalcon, Sundries Shack, Cox and Forkum, American Soldier, Jane Novack, Sworn Enemy, Julliette, Jeff at Beautiful Attrocities, Blog Tower, Sparse Matrix, Cal Tech Girl, Dummocrats, Flea, SondraK, Kate at Small Tasty Dead Animals, Mr. K, Zippo the Pirate, Scared Monkeys, Joe Gandelman, Myopic Zeal, Jack Lewis, Beth of MYVRWC, Maximum Leader, Chris Cross, Passionate America, Daniel Aronstein, Misplaced Keys, Hyscience, HispaLibertas, and a bajillion others.
I even have two blog children (as far as I know--wink, wink): Brian B. of Memento Moron and tee_bee!
So, while the rest of you are busy typing away on today's important events, I think I'll kick back, eat some meat, and take it easy. Thanks one and all. Biyatches!!!
UPDATE: Sorry about multiple trackback pings. Seriously, something went screwy with this thing.

Spring Break Blogging
It's Spring Break around here. I'm going to try to do some academic work over the break. Contrary to popular belief, the Middle East is not my field of expertise.
As I explained on the radio the other night, I put a pretty big wall of seperation between my professional writing and my blog writing. To be honest, I get kind of annoyed at some bloggers who wear their academic credentials on their coat sleeves. As if the type of work that we publish on our blogs are somehow related to our academic disciplines. They are not.
My blog writing has gotten more intense as of late, but I've allowed my professional research and writing fall off quite a bit.
I'll be posting, but posting will be much lighter than usual.
UPDATE: In lieu of reading posts, why not offer some good vibes and a prayer for Brian B. Looks like he's going to have to be the sole bread winner for awhile. Welcome to the club, man. I've been supporting Mrs. Shackleford for going on 4 years now. It aint easy, but it's worth it.

Calling All Hackers
Let me just put in a quick plug for
Hagganah Internet. What we do here is make fun of terrorists and expose their evil agenda. What he does there is he
takes those bitches out!
What many in America do not understand is that terrorists are linked together with a common ideology. That ideology is not 'terrorism'. 'Terrorism' is a means to an end, the end, however is just as frightening as the means. The ends are the global caliphate under sharia law as first envisioned by The Muslim Brotherhood at the fall of the Turkish empire.
I condemn the IRA, but I don't consider them a major threat to Western Civilization. On the other hand, The Muslim Brotherhood has (at least publicly) renounced violence yet I consider them a far more dangerous organization.
The jihadi networks are bound together through internet sites and discussion boards where they give each other support, instruction, and even coordinate attacks.
The FBI and CIA still operate in pre-9/11 mode when it comes to these terrorist web sites. That is, the operators of these websites are largely ignored or when attention is paid to them it is in the guise of a criminal indictment. If 9/11 taught us anything, it is that we cannot treat the jihadi terrorists as criminals. This is war, and pro-active cyber-warfare must be part of that strategy.
Internet Hagganah is committed to exposing the terrorists by revealing the web sites they use and hosting companies which allow them to operate. Many might be surprised to learn that the majority of jihadi websites are hosted on American or European servers.
If you have, er, special skills that might help in taking down some of these websites you might want to pay Aaron's Internet Hagganah a visit.
In the past few weeks a number of jihadi sites have been, er, forced to find other hosts. For instance, the Aaryan Nation website which openly encourages the jihad against America has recently been *cough* shut down.
If you don't have these special skills, another strategy is to contact the webhost and pressure them to remove the terrorists' content. Internet Hagganah on an almost daily basis reveals who those webhosts are. For instance, a company in Denmark has been hosting a website which raises money under the guise of an 'Islamic Charity' but which openly boasts in Arabic about how those funds are used in Iraq to fuel the insurgency.
Last bleg--if you want to help make Internet Hagganah a semi-regular visit.

Hold on there, Dr., you make a subtle but vastly important misstatement; those, like bin-Laden, who wish to restore the Caliphate want to do just that, restore the historical boundaries of the Caliphate. They are not interested in a global Caliphate, ruling North American for example. Without understand the enemies strategic goals, you cannot formulat a strategic response. See exhibit A, Iraq policy. And read Sun-Tzu.

third, I think you are wrong, so I will give you my evidence, which may or may not change your perspective,.
"Muslim institutions, schools and economic power should be strengthened in America. Those who stay in America should be open to society without melting, keeping Mosques open so anyone can come and learn about Islam. If you choose to live here, you have a responsibility to deliver themessage of Islam ...... Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faiths, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."

third, with all respect, ive got many more examples of statements made by so-called mainstream muslim advocates and groups in the u.s. saying that everything and anything that can be done to bring done our present system and replace it with islamic law should and will be done.
so your thinking that the "caliphate will stop in the middle east because thats all they really want is woefully blind to the facts of thier actions and words.

Yes, Aaron does good work. I would hope by now the feds have realized the Net is how these folks communicate. Either directly or concealed in posts on these sites.
We should be exploiting this and taking this battle to them in cyberspace.
Also on a separate note the Iranian people have the potential to implode the rulling theocracy of the Mad Mullahs of Iran. We can support them by keeping the communications lines open and facilitating instant messaging within Iran.

JRI,
Perhaps you failed basic statistics. If so, here is a refresher.
N=13 is a smaller number than N=1,456
Third Policeman, I hope you come back to read this. Al Qaeda has just released (last week) a new magazine (ironically called "The Tip of the Camel's Hump"). I linked to it last week. What I didn't link to was a translation of one of the articles which was essentially a long-term strategy for global domination. Phase 1 of ought to be called "oeration mayhem" because it calls for destabilitzation efforts in the "apostate regimes" (Saude Arabia, Egypt, etc.) Phase 2 calls for tawhid of the umma or unification of the Muslim nation. That is the gradual unification of Muslim lands into the greater caliphate which would comprise all lands where Muslims dominate. Phase 3 is the evenual conquering of the world.

You should have underlined and bolded this line:
The ends are the global caliphate under sharia law as first envisioned by The Muslim Brotherhood at the fall of the Turkish empire.
Because that is the reason for jihad and only reason the terrorists work, or at least that's how it started.

Hello,
What you seem to not have understood by now is there method of attacks. What you tihnk is the war in irak isn't really the true war, its just a veil that has been put over your eyes to blind you from the truth. The real attacks started a long time ago in america. And it is "Reproduction" they intend to topple over america through reproduction, how?
Well, its simple... human multiply themselves exponentially, now according to the qu'ran a muslim has the right to have 4 wives... meaning if he has 2 children with each wife, it makes eight, the process is recursive since the children will in turn manage to either have 4 wifes if they are boys or be one of the 4 wives of yet another muslim. In the long term this process makes them become a majority in the country they are living, hence in the end becomes a political weight in that country, and as you know politician will need their vote and will do anything to get elected (everywhere its the same). But as time goes on and on, they will become a vast majority and hence will be able to topple any government. Take the example of both France and UK, those 2 countries are nearing the crisis, since now they have multiplied enough to voice out their opinion and to protest for tihngs they want, to topple the france and the uk's government to replace em by an islamic leader is just now a matter of time.
Another point, is that these people is using a very very fine exploit, yes, there's a big security hole our system. We always want to make a good face in the society and will not do anything that may make us appear bad in the eye of the world. They know we can't torture, legally, they know we can't force them to shift religion, they know we can't prevent anyone to join islam, they know we can't support one religion without supporting all the others along, they know we can't prevent them from making business with anyone, they know we can't won't be using alternatives energy sources because the petorl companies have a vast monopoly over these sources (since our own ppl buy the lbue prints of inventions and hide them so as they can still squeze money out of petrol), they know we just can't do anything bad against them, because we are bound by our good nature. Hence over the years they take advatange of the system day by day, we just can't retaliate without having any good reasons, else the entire world will blame us.
hope you'll make good usage of that information.

Caling all Hackers.
It's time to take up arms against these terrorists that are using the internet as a way of recruting more nutcases into there fold.
Thier use of the internet for communication / recruiting and showing movies of them killing people is becoming a very big problem and those who stand up in our british streets and incite murder & violence against us should be deported back to thier own country where they can say what they like, but our laws won't alow it (Well our soft law's are complete asses).
Shutting these people down with viruses or raiding thier bank accounts (I dont' think the law would be too upset about knicking terrorist money !). and the chance for the best hackers to become famous for doing damage instead of being condemed is a challenge the world would love you for.
It's brilliant way of fighting back all be it in a small way, but we all know how frustrating it is when the computer keeps crashing or someone steels information from our computers.
So if there are any really good Hackers out there who want to do good for the majoriity of the world and piss of a load of extremists at the same time then please give it some thought.
If I could do it I would !.I wish I had some real hacking skills, that I could put to good use.
I would be blowing up thier computers with every virus I could find instead of watching them killing people ! on the news.
I will watch this space and the news with anticipation in the hope that the best of the best of you take this up as a serious challenge.

Reminds me of Colorado. Just gorgeous there; the only problem is there is no air it's so high in elevation. Spent a month there, 15 rolls of film, at least, stiff neck for looking up, and shots that should be seen around the world. But there is no air and I was sick most of the time and felt like I was going to suffocate. They say you get used to it but after a month, I still was not used to it. But it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life. If I could get past the "mountain illness" I'd go back; that whole area is fascinating. And people move at a much slower pace.
Where exactly are these pictures taken from?

Killed in Israel
Only a year ago, the month of March would have held the same positive associations for me as it has for many - the beginning of the end of winter, the promise of springtime and even summer. This year, and for every year for the rest of my life, the approach of March will mean something else entirely - the anniversary of the brutal death of my cousin, Rachel Corrie. .On March 16, 2003, an Israeli soldier and his commander ran over Rachel with a nine-ton Caterpillar bulldozer while she stood - unarmed, clearly visible in her orange fluorescent jacket - protecting a Palestinian home slated for demolition by the Israeli army. .The death of Rachel Corrie, and the response that her case has - and has not - received, reveal several disturbing, indeed immoral and criminal, truths. First, Rachel died while attempting to prevent the demolition of a home, a common practice of the Israeli Army's collective punishment that has left more than 12,000 Palestinians homeless since the beginning of the second uprising in September 2000. This practice violates international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention. .Second, Rachel was run over by a Caterpillar bulldozer, manufactured in the United States and sent to Israel as part of the regular U.S. aid package to Israel, which amounts to $3 billion to $4 billion annually, all of it from U.S. taxpayers. The use of Caterpillar bulldozers to destroy civilian homes, not to mention to run over unarmed human rights activists, violates U.S. law, including the U.S. Arms Export Control Act, which prohibits the use of military aid against civilians. .Third, the self-acquittal of the Israeli army for Rachel's death and the resistance of the state of Israel to an independent investigation into this case reveals both the Sharon administration's unwillingness to take responsibility for the death of a U.S. citizen and the Bush administration's cowardice in allowing another nation to attack U.S. citizens with impunity. .Fourth, Rachel's death was in fact only the first of several Israeli attacks on foreign citizens in the West Bank and Gaza. Brian Avery, from New Mexico, was shot in the face on April 5; Tom Hurndall, a British citizen, was shot in the head on April 11 and died Jan. 13, and James Miller, another British citizen, was also shot and killed in April. To date, only in Hurndall's case will the Israeli soldier responsible for the attack face trial, and this is because the British government, after several months, finally responded to the overwhelming evidence presented by the Hurndall family. .As we approach March 16, residents and citizens of the United States should ask themselves how it is that an unarmed U.S. citizen can be killed with impunity by a soldier from an allied nation receiving massive U.S. aid, using a product manufactured in the United States by a U.S. corporation and paid for with U.S. tax dollars. When three Americans were killed, presumably by Palestinians, in an explosion on Oct. 15, 2003, as they traveled through Gaza, the FBI came within 24 hours to investigate the deaths. After one year, neither the FBI nor any other U.S.-led team has done anything to investigate the death of an American killed by an Israeli. .Why the double standard? Perhaps this reveals the most disturbing truth of all. .Elizabeth Corrie is an administrator and teacher in a school in Atlanta. ________________________________________________________________________ Seattle Post-Intelligencer
Our Place in the World: Still no justice for Rachel Corrie
By WENDY SMITH
GUEST COLUMNIST
Friday 23, 2004
Tom Hurndall, a 22-year-old British peace activist, died last week in a London hospital. He was shot in the head by Israeli sniper fire nine months ago while shepherding Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip out of the line of fire. He had been in a coma since his injury. Hours before Hurndall died, the soldier who shot him was charged with aggravated assault. The charge is now likely to be revised to manslaughter or murder; British police are participating in an official investigation of his death.
Rachel Corrie from Olympia was crushed to death by an Israeli military bulldozer in the Rafah refugee camp about a month before Hurndall was shot there. Like Hurndall, Corrie was a volunteer with the Palestinian-led International Solidarity Movement to End the Occupation of Palestine (ISM). Like Hurndall, she was killed by an identifiable Israeli soldier. As in Hurndall's case, the Israeli government initially released a report on Corrie's killing, stating that nobody connected with the Israeli military was culpable and that further investigation was not required.
So, why has Hurndall's killer been charged when nothing has happened to Corrie's killer?
According to the Hurndall family, the only reason the soldier who shot him has been charged is because of pressure applied by the family. Hurndall's father is an attorney. He went to Rafah shortly after the shooting and compiled an extensive dossier of eyewitness affidavits, forensics reports, photographs and other relevant information. This dossier was put before the British foreign secretary in a way that made it very difficult to ignore. Ultimately, the British government went to bat for Hurndall, an unarmed British civilian killed by an Israeli soldier under the impression that he could shoot with impunity.
Indeed, the soldier had good reason to believe this. More than 2,000 unarmed Palestinian civilians, many of them children, have been killed in the occupied territories since the current intifada began in September 2000. Only 10 Israeli soldiers have been indicted and none has been convicted. A culture of impunity permeates the Israeli military, which is well known for its non-investigations of itself. For this reason, the Hurndall family would like to see the investigation of his death extend all the way up the chain of command.
Corrie's parents are not lawyers. In addition, they were told by members of the Washington state congressional delegation and State Department officials that if they quietly played along, justice for their daughter would ultimately be achieved. So far, all that has emerged is a non-credible Israeli military report claiming that 1) Corrie was not run over by a bulldozer and 2) even if she had been, the driver could not have seen her. These statements are contradicted respectively by the autopsy report and multiple eyewitness reports.
It is an insult to the human heart to have to force government officials to do their jobs properly while digesting the fact your child has been brutally killed.
Somehow the Hurndall family was able to take the necessary steps in the timeframe required. Believing what their congressman, senators and State Department officials told them, the Corries have been left to swallow lies.
Is this the best our members of Congress can do for a citizen killed abroad? Plenty of them made pretty speeches but real action is a question of political will.

WTW: Instalanche vs. Instant Lunch
I finally got an
Instalanche!! Thank you Glenn Reynolds, my life is now complete. I now feel...what's the word? Violated. No, I mean
validated.
But contrary to popular belief, an Instalanche isn't the end-all-be-all of blogging. In fact, as a member of that class of Americans known as "white trash" (we prefer to be called people of the soil, but that aint gonna happen) I would prefer an instant lunch over an instalanche.
Resurrected from the vast archives of My Pet Jawa, here is a classic to celebrate my first real Instalanche and White Trash Wednesday. Instalanche vs. Instant Lunch.

How do the two compare?
Instalanche-immediate spike in traffic, lasting up to 48 hours.
Instant Lunch-immediate spike in sodium level, MSG headache up to 12 hours.
Instalanche-expect at least two or three bloggers to get a kick out of your post and add you to the blogroll.
Insant Lunch-expect at least two or three co-workers to get a kick out of you eating the sh*t they swore they'd never touch again their first day out of college.
Instalanche-a sudden feeling of self-satisfaction knowing that somehow your post drew the attention of the right-blogosphere's top blogger.
Instant Lunch-a sudden feeling of stomach-satisfaction, with the caveat that the empty calories you just scarfed down will leave you lethargic for the rest of the day.
Instalanche-with the sudden spike in traffic you can now up your Blog Ad rate to just under covering your total monthly ISP and blog host bill.
Instant Lunch-with the money you saved by eating cheap MSG laden quasi-Asian food you can now afford to run to the video store and rent the latest Adam Sandler film--only to find that you remember neither the food nor the film in the morning.
I'm off to edumacate the masses. For more White Trash Wednesday fun, visit these sites:

Dale Grib Rusty Shackleford and Friends on Sgrena Shooting
Bill Dauterive
But Chris Matthews said the eyetalian reporter said the guys that that kidnapped her said the Americans didn't want her to get out alive. Why would he say she said they said that?

It's a conspiracy! I told you before, this all goes back to Bush bein' a member of Skull and Bones.
Hank Hill
Damnit Dale! Dubya is a Texan, and there are three things that I can't abide by - people speakin' ill of the president of the United States, people speakin' ill of Texans, and people speakin' ill of propane and propane accessories.
Dale Gribble
I still say the Illuminati are involved in this somehow.
John from Wuzzadem has the rest.
and speaking of Giuliana Sgrena, Phin went Moonbat watching and spotted the illusive "journalista osor americanus antepilanum" in its native habitat here.

Communists are stupid, and liars, and get other people killed. Seen the pictures of her car?

Where's the 300-400 bullet-holes? We don't shoot hundreds of rounds so badly, to miss so much. The car should look like swiss cheese.
Also she writes in her Stalinist newspaper "Il Manifesto" and says they drove so wildly through the puddles they nearly lost it, laughing all the way, then she in statements to Italian Magistrates says they weren't speeding, and drove a sedate 25mph.
Right.
