Reader Help: Hotels in London

Any reader know of a hotel or B&B in London that meets rather high American expectations (what passes for a '3 star hotel' is rather shocking on the other side of the pond) that's relatively cheap? By 'American expectations' I mean a bed that a guy that's 6' 4'' can sleep on, is cleaned daily, has an air conditioner, and en suite bathroom & showers. Doesn't need to be right in the center of London, but does need to be near a tube station and cheap. Did I mention cheap?

WTW The World Is Watching.

Go and brag about your misery some place else he doesnÂ’t work for anyone else.
You use his words to make your point but his first dreams were of West Point.
Just like those you hope to imitate, to that call he never did relate.
Go ahead and take all you can steal to him politics never were the deal.
So stand up and boo when he cranks it up for you just like they did you will too.
You have no idea what rebellion really is it was only the music that was his.
Take it, twist it, use it for your own but he is one whose soul is his own.
The certainty is you will find yourself alone just like Joan you canÂ’t harness a rolling stone.

Ex-Congressman Dellums Considering Mayor's Job

(Oakland, California) Former U.S. Representative Ron Dellums, a 28-year veteran Democrat in Congress, is sniffing at becoming the next Mayor of Oakland. The idea became a possibility in June when an outburst of support was seen during the 50th anniversary celebration of the Oakland Citizens Committee for Urban Renewal (OCCUR). Interviewed this past week, Dellums indicated that:

[T]he risks involved in staking his reputation on a city with seemingly intractable problems such as high rates of violent crime, sagging public finances and underachieving schools only make a mayoral run seem more attractive.
Despite whether Dellums runs for mayor, it should be pointed out that the Oakland Citizens Committee for Urban Renewal doesn't seem to have done jack-shinola in 50 years. For crying out loud, what the hell were they celebrating back in June? The high rates of violent crime? The sagging public finances? Or was it the underachieving schools? Sheesh! It makes this writer wonder what will be accomplished in the next 50 years.

Getting back to Dellums, for those who aren't familiar with the former Democratic congressman, his political history reasonably indicates that the only distinction between him and an avowed communist is that Dellums was never heard to say in public, "I'm an avowed communist." And arguably, there is no better objective indicator of his core political philosophy than the Internet. Just do a Google search of "Dellums" and "communist" and you'll get more hits than if you Google "Dellums" and "Democrat."

As to whether Dellums and his communist/socialist belief system take over Oakland or not, it really makes no difference. The East Bay is already infested with more Marxist ideologues than any other place in North America. What's one more?

Light Blogging October: I shall return

It looks like the rest of this month and until the end of October I will be only able to do one post a day--maximum. Sorry. The good news is that by November it looks like my schedule will return to normal and that we should begin our first Jawa podcasts sometime shortly thereafter.

Until then, I recommend my co-bloggers to you. Their posts are a mix of humor, deep insight, overlooked news items, and political screeds--the kind of stuff you've come to expect at The Jawa Report. Link worthy items should be sent to them, not to me. I'll still be reading e-mail, but don't expect a response unless it is either personal in nature or urgent.

I shall return.

Left demands U.S. out of U.S. now. Neocons respond: U.S. must invade U.S. now!

More anti-war protesters reveal true agenda.

Best. ACLU. Idea. Ever. ACLU demands girls join Boy Scouts. I would have made Eagle had there been some chicks around.

Heading to Katrina Disaster Zone

I'm flying down to the Katrina disaster zone today to see what little help I can offer. It's the least I can do after I was such an arrogant prick about it. I regret those words. There was no bigger news than Katrina that week or since. I'll be back Monday.

WTW Cube Farm Living, Crimson Love Monkey Edition

Yes my company is having an open house this week. We are all supposed to remove any and all traces of personality from our work area. You know make it look just so. The man has sent down orders that all goofy stuff is to come down. My Aussie cube mate and I have formed a rebellion against this evil. For where ever there is a cube we fight for freedom.

Aussie refuses to take down his love monkey.

Howie refuses to take down the Tower of Stupidity.

.Will it last? Who will win this war of personality? We face a long struggle against a powerful enemy. Here is some background on the tower of stupidity. ItÂ’s my little 9/11 memorial and also a fun way to have a flag stick up over my cube. On 9/12 we came to work and every cube had a little flag on it. See the small flag on the left hand side itÂ’s an original 9/12 toothpick flag. Worked a couple weekends after that and built the tower from happy meals via my bosses daughters. ItÂ’s been standing nearly four years and it will be standing longer. Should Aussie dude and I loose this battle rest assured that as soon as the tourists are gone both the tower and the crimson love monkey will return to their rightful place in our cubes along with my hot Marge Simpson poster. Also for those of you who care Howie did start up that new batch of fine wine this week. Due date on the booze is 10/31. The love monkey was a gift from Aussie's new bride.

Updated: Guess who's coming to the open house Ernie Fletcher. No comment. Well maybe below the break.

Chrenkoff Has Left the Building

One of the greats has hung up his hat. Arthur Chrenkoff, the man who brought us his weekly 'Good News From Iraq' has called it quits. God speed. Good News From the Front will now fill the much needed niche.

Hat tip: California Conservative.

Update: I second Rusty's well-expressed sentiments. Aurthur's contribution has been both an inspiration and an example, and we hope his future is bright. See his Finale on Winds of Change. (Probably duplicates the material on Rusty's link, above.)

Application to Become a HuffPo Blogger

This is one of the true mysteries of the Internet. Why in the world would they post this on the Huffington Post? It just rattles the foundations... I'd actually post the article, but it's more than a tad offensive, in a "That's no lady; that's my sister!" sort of way.

WTW Snot blogging or is it

It seems lately that I just can't catch a break. Minor bout with the flu last month now the mother of all colds has me feelling down. Several other things not going my way either. Rep says field x is fouled up. Hey that's what you said to put there so I did. Stop whining before I ship you a snotrag via interoffice mail. We've got hurricane Katrina giving everyone an excuse to slam the Government. It was a freaking hurricane dumbasses. Blame the storm. OK lets see what has more power Government VS Nature. Uh duh I'll let you figure that one out yourself. Now to top it all off my hero Bob Denver has passed away. Yes while me Mum finished out college I stayed with the grandparents. I have an aunte that is only about 7 years older. We fought over Dinah Shore VS Gilligan every day. Grandma always let me watch Gilligan much to my Aunt's dismay. Howie lives so far and I'll not give in but may be a bit scarce for a few days. Best to save the blogging until I can think. You know, the nice thing about a run of bad luck is it will eventually end.

Congrats to Mark on the new grandbaby.

See this cool post on Califonia conservative.

Yes I've seen that happen before. But see Sean if yer boat is not so full of reporters you can open that sucker up and the water will drain out the plug hole and then you stick the plug in there no bailing required. River rat experience teaches many things.

Malcontent goes off on Author Marc Siegel

Author Marc Siegel was on "The Daily Show" last night, flogging his book False Alarm: The Truth About the Epidemic of Fear. I have not yet read the book, but his interview with Jon Stewart was troubling, to say the least.

Jawa Report in MSM: Google and Evil in the Same Sentence?

Is the MSM out to wreck The Jawa Report? Yes. Er, at least that's what the CIA is beaming into my head through this uncomfortable tin-foil helmut as we speak. As you know, The Jawa Report is back in the Google News business. Just when I was trying to kiss and make up with the great provider of eyeballs, Pixy Misa of Ambient Irony sends me this Scotsman article:

Like many web users, I admire their anti-corporate approach and their pledges not to be evil. But now, some people are beginning to question if this terribly successful company might not be the new Microsoft. (For those of you you not au fait with these matters, there is a certain online consituency who view "Micro$oft" as the root of many of the world's evils)....

A site that does not have any Goodle ads on it is MyPetJawa.mu.nu. Referring to Revelation 13:16, it suggests that Google is the antichrist.

So much for "Don't be evil."

Did I say antichrist? I meant, incarnation of Christ. Come on Google, don't be mad......

Paranthetically I do have Google ads. I just love the irony in this site making money from ads from MAS, CAIR, and various Muslim Singles groups.

So, maybe it's me that's evil? After all, I didn't spend 6 years in evil graduate school just to be called Mr. Rusty Shackleford.

Please Donate

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.

Donate today. When you do (and I do say when and not if) donate, please do not mention The Jawa Report.
