Reader Help: Hotels in London
Any reader know of a hotel or B&B in London that meets rather high American expectations (what passes for a '3 star hotel' is rather shocking on the other side of the pond) that's relatively cheap? By 'American expectations' I mean a bed that a guy that's 6' 4'' can sleep on, is cleaned daily, has an air conditioner, and en suite bathroom & showers. Doesn't need to be right in the center of London, but does need to be near a tube station and cheap. Did I mention cheap?

If you google that you can probably come up with some discounted prices.

We stayed at the Marriott at County Hall (next to the Eye, across the river from the Westminster Tube stop... very short walk). We flew into Gatwick, took the train to Victoria Station, then the Tube to Westminster. Walk across the Thames and there's the hotel. (It's not the cheapest, but it's a Marriott, so... looks almost like a US hotel room... we even got internet access for an added price). There's also a Premier Travel Inn in the County Hall, and it's a lot less expensive, but I don't know what kind of hotel it is. Both hotels have web sites, if you want to google them.

Oh, so the fancy American thinks he's too good to use the communal bathtub and shyte in a coffee can does he? He probably even brushes his teeth!
Honestly, and they think we're barbaric. Well on the bright side, at least you're not going to a muslims country the best they can do for a crapper is to tile around the hole in the floor, and bathing must be considered a crime, because in their native habitat, muslims stink to high heaven.

The Thistle-Kennsigton Hotel is excellent...stayed there for 9 days during my honeymoon last year...right across from Hyde-Kennsigton park....excellent food...rooms are comfy if a bit small...bathrooms are nice with towel warmers....air conditioning units...maid service daily....very friendly staff....prices werent too bad when we went during April of 2004...aprrox $100.00 a nite...no more expensive than a nite in Holiday Inn in Atlantic City...oh and very close, one block, from a tube station..rooms also have a mini frig...and there is a gas station/grocery store on the ground level...Shell...seemed to be the only gas station in London as far as i could see....it was also quiet at nite so it made sleeping easy.....excellent choice

WTW The World Is Watching.
Go and brag about your misery some place else he doesnÂ’t work for anyone else.
You use his words to make your point but his first dreams were of West Point.
Just like those you hope to imitate, to that call he never did relate.
Go ahead and take all you can steal to him politics never were the deal.
So stand up and boo when he cranks it up for you just like they did you will too.
You have no idea what rebellion really is it was only the music that was his.
Take it, twist it, use it for your own but he is one whose soul is his own.
The certainty is you will find yourself alone just like Joan you canÂ’t harness a rolling stone.

A lot of people might not get this WTW post unless:
1. they were a HUGE Bob Dylan fan,
2. had seen "No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, A Martin Scorsese Picture" (which was on Kentucky Educational Television 9-26 & 9-27),
3. Were at least old enough to vote for Ronald Reagan,(and yes I voted for him both terms)
4. (last but not least) worked with Howie and considered him a friend.
Good poem Howie, way to go!! Most people would have thought that Dylan was a red, he's not that politcal of a person, just a dedicated musician trying to pay the bills.

Yeah I figured not a lot of support on this one.
I'll do it for me.
How can you be a product of the 60's and still be pro war now.
Simple. If you take your responsability to be politically aware and really really believe that social justice for those willing to work and freedom of speech and limited government are values you believe in. Then if you actually look at what the islamofacists think about that how can you not be.
None of those values are on their list. I feel that is where the movements of the 60's went a bit off track. How can you fight for social justice and equal rights here and not also believe that those values are important enouhg for the rest of the world. I can tell you the islamists have no such values and would saw off country joes head in a heartbeat.
Also too many men in blue and grey have soaked this land with their blood. We have turnd our cheek with the USS cole we turned our cheek on the embassies. Some times as bad or ugly as war is there are things worth fighting for. If we kick every islamofasist int he worlds ass OK with me. They don't believe in that stuff anyway. You will never find Mullah Omar jamming country Joe and the Fish.

Ex-Congressman Dellums Considering Mayor's Job
(Oakland, California) Former U.S. Representative Ron Dellums, a 28-year veteran Democrat in Congress, is sniffing at becoming the next Mayor of Oakland. The idea became a possibility in June when an outburst of support was seen during the 50th anniversary celebration of the Oakland Citizens Committee for Urban Renewal (OCCUR).
Interviewed this past week, Dellums indicated that:
[T]he risks involved in staking his reputation on a city with seemingly intractable problems such as high rates of violent crime, sagging public finances and underachieving schools only make a mayoral run seem more attractive.
Despite whether Dellums runs for mayor, it should be pointed out that the Oakland Citizens Committee for Urban Renewal doesn't seem to have done jack-shinola in 50 years. For crying out loud, what the hell were they celebrating back in June? The high rates of violent crime? The sagging public finances? Or was it the underachieving schools? Sheesh! It makes
this writer wonder what will be accomplished in the next 50 years.
Getting back to Dellums, for those who aren't familiar with the former Democratic congressman, his political history reasonably indicates that the only distinction between him and an avowed communist is that Dellums was never heard to say in public, "I'm an avowed communist." And arguably, there is no better objective indicator of his core political philosophy than the Internet. Just do a Google search of "Dellums" and "communist" and you'll get more hits than if you Google "Dellums" and "Democrat."
As to whether Dellums and his communist/socialist belief system take over Oakland or not, it really makes no difference. The East Bay is already infested with more Marxist ideologues than any other place in North America. What's one more?

Now now, remember these are liberals we're talking about, and they're not celebrating their achievements, but rather their noble intentions. The facts that their city is a shithole of crime and poverty, and their city government is corrupt and inept are only proofs of white racism. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the CIA earthquake machine strikes the Bay area sometime soon. Because W hates black people, ya know.
Seriously though, maybe he does hate black people. After all, he did appoint Condi Rice to the highest non-elected position in the free world, and who better than she to humiliate the vast majority of blacks by daring to achieve something on her own, and actually succeeding in "DA WHITE MAN'S WORLD™"?

Oakland CA would be a great home for the Palestinians.
We could have an aggressive fundamentalist Islamic people in Oakland just across the bay from the living Sodom and Gomorrah.
It might be a good thing to see the alliance of radical Islam and San Francisco style America get along, after all they are both anti Bush.
IÂ’m getting a real warm feeling now. I know we can all get along. I feel the LUVVVVVVVVV.

Brad, I like the way you think. Considering that the two worst groups of enemies of Western civilization, i.e. leftards and 'slamotards, actually are polar opposites, and are only united in their common cause of destroying America, I think we should find a way to put them together so they can live in peace and love. Other than the beheadings of gays, lesbians, wiccans, hippies, etc., the two groups should get along fine.

My wife keeps telling me to stop after 2 glasses of merlot, but when she is up stairs putting the kids to bedÂ….Gluck,Gluck Gluck..
IM, IÂ’m sure the two groups would have some differences, but their shared hatred of Bush would ensure they would co-exist peacefully.
Just thinking of Sister Boom Boom the transgendered satin worshiping nun breaking bread together with Ahmed the anchorman from Sout Al-Kahlifa TV at a Sausalito bistro warms my heart.

Please donÂ’t run, Ron.
Dear Mr. Dellums. I am a 20 year resident of Oakland and know your history and efforts well. The reason I don’t want you to run for Mayor of Oakland is simply this: you have lived your life so fully, so honorably and so gracefully—now rest, it is okay to rest. Of course you are the most qualified. Of course, you are the most popular. Of course we will all look up to you. But, as you mentioned in your interview, the problems in Oakland are intractable. And, sadly, for this same reason, you will not solve these problems, not with all your best efforts and the community’s best intentions—if it were so simple, these problems would be gone already.
So, Ron, please rest and enjoy these times. Please don’t sully your life, reputation and remaining years with Oakland’s problems; they will do nothing but tarnish you. While others may want you for all you have done, hoping hope you will do more, I am fulfilled by all you stood for and only want you now to live happily and peacefully. To run and to serve now, I feel, would only dishonor your own personal legacy: Ron, there is no need for a ‘come back’ because I know your heart and spirit never left us. You have put in your time and you affected so many of us in so many good ways. Let that stand, Ron, let that be, and be at peace your self. Oakland will find the way as it always has.

Light Blogging October: I shall return
It looks like the rest of this month and until the end of October I will be only able to do one post a day--maximum. Sorry. The good news is that by November it looks like my schedule will return to normal and that we should begin our first Jawa podcasts sometime shortly thereafter.
Until then, I recommend my co-bloggers to you. Their posts are a mix of humor, deep insight, overlooked news items, and political screeds--the kind of stuff you've come to expect at The Jawa Report. Link worthy items should be sent to them, not to me. I'll still be reading e-mail, but don't expect a response unless it is either personal in nature or urgent.
I shall return.

WTW Cube Farm Living, Crimson Love Monkey Edition
Yes my company is having an open house this week. We are all supposed to remove any and all traces of personality from our work area. You know make it look just so. The man has sent down orders that all goofy stuff is to come down. My Aussie cube mate and I have formed a rebellion against this evil. For where ever there is a cube we fight for freedom.
Aussie refuses to take down his love monkey.
Howie refuses to take down the Tower of Stupidity.
.Will it last? Who will win this war of personality? We face a long struggle against a powerful enemy. Here is some background on the tower of stupidity. ItÂ’s my little 9/11 memorial and also a fun way to have a flag stick up over my cube. On 9/12 we came to work and every cube had a little flag on it. See the small flag on the left hand side itÂ’s an original 9/12 toothpick flag. Worked a couple weekends after that and built the tower from happy meals via my bosses daughters. ItÂ’s been standing nearly four years and it will be standing longer. Should Aussie dude and I loose this battle rest assured that as soon as the tourists are gone both the tower and the crimson love monkey will return to their rightful place in our cubes along with my hot Marge Simpson poster. Also for those of you who care Howie did start up that new batch of fine wine this week. Due date on the booze is 10/31. The love monkey was a gift from Aussie's new bride.
Updated: Guess who's coming to the open house Ernie Fletcher. No comment. Well maybe below the break.

How dare you express yourselves! What a bunch of bureaucratic claptrap. Keep fighting the good fight, Howie.

Chrenkoff Has Left the Building
One of the greats has hung up his hat. Arthur Chrenkoff, the man who brought us his weekly 'Good News From Iraq' has
called it quits. God speed.
Good News From the Front will now fill the much needed niche.
Hat tip: California Conservative.
Update: I second Rusty's well-expressed sentiments. Aurthur's contribution has been both an inspiration and an example, and we hope his future is bright. See his Finale on Winds of Change. (Probably duplicates the material on Rusty's link, above.)

Application to Become a HuffPo Blogger
This is one of the true mysteries of the Internet. Why in the world would they post
this on the Huffington Post? It just rattles the foundations... I'd actually post the article, but it's more than a tad offensive, in a "That's no lady; that's my sister!" sort of way.

That's gotta be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. What, do they only accept celebrities and famous types as bloggers?
I'd rather rot to death in a indonesian prison.

LOL! GG is the only reason I would ever click over to the ComPost.
Only one question, when you're in under deep cover, are you supposed to blow your identity so clearly?
Oh, I get it. The ComPost readers are too stupid to catch on.

INCREDIBLY BRILLIANT AND ENTERTAINING! At first I thought someone had literally hacked the site and dropped it in. Highly recommended!

I e-mailed them with a hot tip:
I informed them that they were traitors. I received a nice e-mail back saying thanks for the hot tip.

WTW Snot blogging or is it
It seems lately that I just can't catch a break. Minor bout with the flu last month now the mother of all colds has me feelling down. Several other things not going my way either. Rep says field x is fouled up. Hey that's what you said to put there so I did. Stop whining before I ship you a snotrag via interoffice mail. We've got hurricane Katrina giving everyone an excuse to slam the Government. It was a freaking hurricane dumbasses. Blame the storm. OK lets see what has more power Government VS Nature. Uh duh I'll let you figure that one out yourself. Now to top it all off my hero
Bob Denver has passed away. Yes while me Mum finished out college I stayed with the grandparents. I have an aunte that is only about 7 years older. We fought over Dinah Shore VS Gilligan every day. Grandma always let me watch Gilligan much to my Aunt's dismay. Howie lives so far and I'll not give in but may be a bit scarce for a few days. Best to save the blogging until I can think. You know, the nice thing about a run of bad luck is it will eventually end.
Congrats to Mark on the new grandbaby.
See this cool post on Califonia conservative.
Yes I've seen that happen before. But see Sean if yer boat is not so full of reporters you can open that sucker up and the water will drain out the plug hole and then you stick the plug in there no bailing required. River rat experience teaches many things.
Malcontent goes off on Author Marc Siegel
Author Marc Siegel was on "The Daily Show" last night, flogging his book False Alarm: The Truth About the Epidemic of Fear. I have not yet read the book, but his interview with Jon Stewart was troubling, to say the least.
Here are your bloggers
more...

I told ya, screwdrivers are the best remedy for a cold or flue. You may not recover any faster, but you just won't give a damn.

They have to make the best of things, it's an uphill climb,
The first mate and the skipper too will do their very best
to make the others comfortable in their tropic island nest.
no boat no lights no motor cars not a single luxury
like Robinson Carusoe(sp), as primitive as can be.
So join us here each week my friends you're sure to get a smile from seven stranded castaways here on Gillgans Isle.

Jawa Report in MSM: Google and Evil in the Same Sentence?
Is the MSM out to wreck The Jawa Report? Yes. Er, at least that's what the CIA is beaming into my head through this uncomfortable tin-foil helmut as we speak. As you know, The Jawa Report is back in the Google News business. Just when I was trying to kiss and make up with the great provider of eyeballs,
Pixy Misa of Ambient Irony sends me
this Scotsman article:
Like many web users, I admire their anti-corporate approach and their pledges not to be evil. But now, some people are beginning to question if this terribly successful company might not be the new Microsoft. (For those of you you not au fait with these matters, there is a certain online consituency who view "Micro$oft" as the root of many of the world's evils)....
A site that does not have any Goodle ads on it is MyPetJawa.mu.nu. Referring to Revelation 13:16, it suggests that Google is the antichrist.
So much for "Don't be evil."
Did I say
antichrist? I meant,
incarnation of Christ. Come on Google, don't be mad......
Paranthetically I do have Google ads. I just love the irony in this site making money from ads from MAS, CAIR, and various Muslim Singles groups.
So, maybe it's me that's evil? After all, I didn't spend 6 years in evil graduate school just to be called Mr. Rusty Shackleford.

Duma$$ got it wrong. You said that Google was "the beast" and Al Gore was "the antichrist".
Maybe that's why you don't have any Al Gore ads on your page?
So much for don't be evi .. er, stupid.

Rusty,
You've stated that your goal is to get a fatwa issued against you personally. The way things are going, you may get it. From Google.

Please Donate
Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.
Donate today. When you do (and I do say when and not if) donate, please do not mention The Jawa Report.
