May I just say that it will be good to see someone besides evil Glenn Reynold's or Wonkette representing the best of the blogosphere. Seriously, can't the media find someone other than the Puppy Blender host or Ms. Anal to interview?

I challenge Google News to find one instance of 'hate speech' on this site that is not either a case of sarcasm, humor, or a direct quote used in the context of a post that attempts to do just the opposite.

Unless, of course, Google News considers saying bad things about Jew hating anti-semites, fascists who would impose religious law, or those that cut off the heads of innocent civilians hate speech. Cause in my book, that's a good thing.

What can you do to help? Please e-mail Google News. And please, be civil.

UPDATE 3/30: A number of readers noticed that The Jawa Report was not dropped from Google News. However, it seems that it just took Google News a couple of days to finally carry through with their threat. As of today, no new Jawa Report articles are being carried by that service.

8 Since the letter was so vague, it looks to me you'll have to report on only puppy dogs, babies and teddy bears. It might be interesting to look into the interior of google and see just what is going on in the offices of google. And see who is the controlling faction that makes the decisions of what they consider hate speech. If you're only reporting situations that are hateful, how is that hate speech?

30 I have yet to read "hate speech" from Jawa. My e-mail to Google said: "I just read that your search engine will no longer bring up the Jawa Report because of hate speech. I would appreciate your giving me specific examples of hate speech on Jawa which exceed that of other sites shown preferential treatment by Google. Stand behind your position, please." Something I do know is that I will no longer use Google as a search engine. If I wanted one-sided opinions and news, I wouldn't need a search engine! I depend on search engines to seek out various news sources so I can find the "truth" of any given matter. Pfft to Google. I rely on Jawa to link me to non-MSM sources. Thank you, Jawa. And Pfffftttt!!!!!!!! to Google. PS: I don't expect a response to my e-mail to Google, but it felt good to send it.

I thought that a billion-dollar company like Google was run by professionals! Someone sent an official communication with the salutation, "Hi Rusty"? Didn't anyone at Google ever crack open a Business English textbook?

That beginning sets the tone for the thoughtless content of the rest of the email. "Upon recent review [When?], we've found that your site contains hate speech [What? Who? Where?]..." How the heck can you "guarantee that your news no longer includes hate speech" when they haven't told you what "hate speech" is? From what info Google has given us, it's possible that if someone left a comment like "I hate the Yankees!" during last year's American League Championship Series, that would be sufficient for them to ban you!

Google investors, maybe you should examine that email again and ask yourself: "Can I really trust a company that would send an official email as anti-professional as that NOT to blow through several billion dollars, like Enron did?" In fact, I would love to see a comparison of that email with Enron documents introduced as evidence in the prosecutions of Jeff Skillings, Andrew Fastow, or Ken Lay. I would bet they didn't read like they were written by a Russian immigrant who learned how to write notes from Juan Epstein!

The tactics used by John Aravosis (Americablog) and Michael Rogers (BlogActive-Raw Story) have become more and more disgusting with time. Recently, we noted in a series of posts that the two have teamed up to 'out' Republican National Committee Chair, Ken Mehlman.

Now, the pair have sunk to an even lower low--if that is possible to imagine. Gay Patriot likened the two to 'terrorists'. What did it get the anonymous gay-blogger? According to Outlet Radio:

According to GayPatriot, who is also a client of mine, Michael Rogers called GayPatriot's place of employment on Friday immediately following the post above and spoke to GayPatriot's secretary and boss. GayPatriot had no idea Rogers would go to such measures and shared with me that both he and his secretary were very upset by the calls but that his boss was understanding.

Rogers expressed feeling threatened by the post and compared it to posts by anti-abortionists who posted the names of doctors performing them.

Rogers later instigated a police investigation and demanded from Gay Patriot's webhost that his site be taken down (check the update).

Here is the gist of it, as reported by the World Peace Herald:

The study was conducted by Natalie Glance of Intelliseek, a marketing intelligence firm in Cincinnati, and Lada Adamic of HP Labs, the main laboratory for Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto, Calif. It showed that of the 1,494 most influential blogs, during the two months leading up to the election, 759 were liberal in worldview, while 735 were conservative. The conservatives, however, showed a "greater tendency" to link to other blogs than did the liberals -- on average 15.1 links per conservative blog to 13.6 for the liberals. That made them more powerful agents of persuasion.

"We've been looking at blogs for about a year," Glance said. "There was some hope that the blogosphere would help bridge the different opinions in America, but what we are seeing is in an election year, it was divisive online and there was a strong tendency for separation of differences."

Conservative blogs apparently were the most influential sites, generating huge flows of traffic to right-leaning news organizations, such as the National Review magazine and Fox News television. The bloggers' links also pushed up the readership numbers for publications such as The New York Post, The Wall Street Journal's online Opinion Journal and The Washington Times, Glance said.

Anyway, the most interesting factoid in the report, as far as The Jawa Report is concerned, is that among the top 20 most influential blogs, My Pet Jawa is linked by precisely 0 liberal blogs. Dean Esmay, #19, is at least linked by 8 and Captain Ed, #6, by 5.

The only one that even comes close is the now nearly defunct Allah, #11, who only has 2 links by liberals to him. J-O-O's, I'm sure.

I don't know whether to wear that as a badge of honor, or what?

Anyway, no time for a more thorough analysis. I'll get around to that later.

In the meantime I'll try to make sure this doesn't go to my head.

6 Rusty: Doesn't this follow the TTLB Blogosphere Ecosystem ranking pretty closely, excluding non-political blogs? I'm pretty sure neither you nor I would operationalize "influence" in precisely this way, but for all we know it's closely associated with citations. Congratulations. Keep up the good work. By the way, by this measure (citations) the most influencial political scientist in the world is Seymour Martin Lipset. But it sort of begs the question of whether political scientists are all that influencial in the first place.

Jack M. Redcorn: "And after I saw that Jeff Gannon was this big (cut!), I made damn sure he got his press credentials..."

Runner up goes to me, for the obvious Mr. Garrison comparison....

Of course, this caption contest was inspired by the leftosphere's gay McCarthyism.

Gay-witch hunting that still seems to take up so much time for the left-blogosphere--and trust me it's going to get much worse before it gets better.

Recently, the good folks who brought you the Jeff Gannon / James Guckert outing have set their eyes on higher office. In a forthcoming edition of GQ magazine it will be revealed that Ken Mehlman, the Republican National Committee Chairman, is their next target.

Evidence that Mehlman is gay? Well ,he's not married. He seems to be pretty clean. And no one has seen him on a date recently.

Sounds like a lot of guys I know. Most of the time I just call them loser.

Anyway, Mehlman has denied that he's gay. I'm sure this won't satisfy the leftosphere. They won't be satisfied until they out a prominent Republican. And if there are pictures--hot man-on-man action pictures--all the better.

Cause you know, all that feminists really want to see are pictures of penises. Hot flopping penises. A Redwood forest of penises......

Where was I?

Oh, yeah. Is Ken Mehlman gay?

Shouldn't the obvious answer be who cares?

There is an orthodoxy on the left that gays must be Democrats. That Republicans hate gays. That to be gay means automatic support for gay marriage.

The worst part about this orthodoxy is that gays who don't toe the party line are considered worse than enemies.

They are considered traitors.

And traitors, as you know, must be rooted out. Exposed.

It's a kind of McCarthyism. Only McCarthy was at least trying to root out real traitors--people who he believed were giving away America's nuclear secrets.

McCarthy, however wrongly he pursued those goals, at least had worthy goals. He was trying to save America from a very real threat.

Can the gay-outing McCarthys of the left say the same thing? Is the goal of gay-marriage so fundamentally important that destroying the lives and reputations of people is worth it?

In my mind the gay-outing left better take a good long look in the mirror and ask if such destruction is really worth it in the long run.

History has past judgement on McCarthy, and so too will it pass judgement on those who employ his tactics in much less important a cause.
