That was quite good.
"Regulations that would create legal obstacles, burdens, thresholds and loophols[sic] for every individual blogger would generate a minefield that only the wealthy or the lawyers could navigate." There's a big one.

Heading to Katrina Disaster Zone
I'm flying down to the Katrina disaster zone today to see what little help I can offer. It's the least I can do after I was
such an arrogant prick about it. I regret those words. There was no bigger news than Katrina that week or since. I'll be back Monday.

WTW Cube Farm Living, Crimson Love Monkey Edition
Yes my company is having an open house this week. We are all supposed to remove any and all traces of personality from our work area. You know make it look just so. The man has sent down orders that all goofy stuff is to come down. My Aussie cube mate and I have formed a rebellion against this evil. For where ever there is a cube we fight for freedom.
Aussie refuses to take down his love monkey.
Howie refuses to take down the Tower of Stupidity.
.
Will it last? Who will win this war of personality? We face a long struggle against a powerful enemy. Here is some background on the tower of stupidity. ItÂ’s my little 9/11 memorial and also a fun way to have a flag stick up over my cube. On 9/12 we came to work and every cube had a little flag on it. See the small flag on the left hand side itÂ’s an original 9/12 toothpick flag. Worked a couple weekends after that and built the tower from happy meals via my bosses daughters. ItÂ’s been standing nearly four years and it will be standing longer. Should Aussie dude and I loose this battle rest assured that as soon as the tourists are gone both the tower and the crimson love monkey will return to their rightful place in our cubes along with my hot Marge Simpson poster. Also for those of you who care Howie did start up that new batch of fine wine this week. Due date on the booze is 10/31. The love monkey was a gift from Aussie's new bride.
Updated: Guess who's coming to the open house Ernie Fletcher. No comment. Well maybe below the break.

Chrenkoff Has Left the Building
One of the greats has hung up his hat. Arthur Chrenkoff, the man who brought us his weekly 'Good News From Iraq' has
called it quits. God speed.
Good News From the Front will now fill the much needed niche.
Hat tip: California Conservative.
Update: I second Rusty's well-expressed sentiments. Aurthur's contribution has been both an inspiration and an example, and we hope his future is bright. See his Finale on Winds of Change. (Probably duplicates the material on Rusty's link, above.)

WTW Snot blogging or is it
It seems lately that I just can't catch a break. Minor bout with the flu last month now the mother of all colds has me feelling down. Several other things not going my way either. Rep says field x is fouled up. Hey that's what you said to put there so I did. Stop whining before I ship you a snotrag via interoffice mail. We've got hurricane Katrina giving everyone an excuse to slam the Government. It was a freaking hurricane dumbasses. Blame the storm. OK lets see what has more power Government VS Nature. Uh duh I'll let you figure that one out yourself. Now to top it all off my hero
Bob Denver has passed away. Yes while me Mum finished out college I stayed with the grandparents. I have an aunte that is only about 7 years older. We fought over Dinah Shore VS Gilligan every day. Grandma always let me watch Gilligan much to my Aunt's dismay. Howie lives so far and I'll not give in but may be a bit scarce for a few days. Best to save the blogging until I can think. You know, the nice thing about a run of bad luck is it will eventually end.
Congrats to Mark on the new grandbaby.
See this cool post on Califonia conservative.
Yes I've seen that happen before. But see Sean if yer boat is not so full of reporters you can open that sucker up and the water will drain out the plug hole and then you stick the plug in there no bailing required. River rat experience teaches many things.

Jawa Report in MSM: Google and Evil in the Same Sentence?
Is the MSM out to wreck The Jawa Report? Yes. Er, at least that's what the CIA is beaming into my head through this uncomfortable tin-foil helmut as we speak. As you know, The Jawa Report is back in the Google News business. Just when I was trying to kiss and make up with the great provider of eyeballs,
Pixy Misa of Ambient Irony sends me
this Scotsman article:
Like many web users, I admire their anti-corporate approach and their pledges not to be evil. But now, some people are beginning to question if this terribly successful company might not be the new Microsoft. (For those of you you not au fait with these matters, there is a certain online consituency who view "Micro$oft" as the root of many of the world's evils)....
A site that does not have any Goodle ads on it is MyPetJawa.mu.nu. Referring to Revelation 13:16, it suggests that Google is the antichrist.
So much for "Don't be evil."
Did I say
antichrist? I meant,
incarnation of Christ. Come on Google, don't be mad......
Paranthetically I do have Google ads. I just love the irony in this site making money from ads from MAS, CAIR, and various Muslim Singles groups.
So, maybe it's me that's evil? After all, I didn't spend 6 years in evil graduate school just to be called Mr. Rusty Shackleford.

Please Donate
Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth.

Come on, don't you guys remember all of the moonbats we used to get? That was, like, so much fun.
Shhhhh. I'm hunting moonbats!!
The way Google News works is that we should see a slight increase in traffic, with periodic huge jumps. I'm predicting a daily increase of about 10% or so, but two or three times a month we might see a 500% increase (when Google News puts you on their front page). That's how it worked in the past, at least.
We may not get those big increases, though, if, as rumor has it, Google has put smaller 'news' outfits at the end of their priority lists. They used to count outlets such as The Jawa the same way they did the NY Times. Not any more.

Georgia Suspends State Gas Tax
Woo-Hoo!
Good news! Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue today announced that, effective at midnight tonight and running until the end of September, no state gasoline taxes will be collected. Perdue expects stations to drop their prices up to 15 cents per gallon within hours. Those stations that don't pass on the savings to consumers will be singled out for investigations by the Department of Revenue and Office of Consumer Affairs.
I suppose it's not necessary to mention that Gov. Perdue is running for re-election next year and he timed his announcement to run live on Georgia TV news broadcasts. It's also probably not necessary to mention that the suspension in tax collection is more a political play than an economic benefit.
Hey, but it's better than nothing.

Dumb move. Price controls, suspending taxs etc do nothing but interfere with the natural supply/demand balance. High prices cause less demand which cause higher supply and a lowering of cost. Let the system work. Tinkering always produces the opposite of the desired result.
Posted by: traderrob at September 02, 2005 06:51 PM (3al54)
2
Yes, but people like tinkering, even if it only serves to make things worse. This is why Congress is allowed to exist.
Posted by: Improbulus Maximus at September 02, 2005 07:20 PM (0yYS2)
3
Isn't taxing it in the first place "tinkering with the market"?
Posted by: abberblab at September 02, 2005 08:37 PM (kJcST)
4
Over a period of time the base tax becomes integrated into the commodity value structure. Only raising/lowering that tax would have an "artificial" effect and disrupt the supply/demand equilibrium.
Posted by: traderrob at September 02, 2005 09:22 PM (3al54)

How to bug the envirmentalist wackos repeal all gas tax so there wont to all that moola for their dumb programs what a bunch of wussies
Posted by: sandpiper at September 02, 2005 10:11 PM (QtdTZ)
6
At least he's not doing like in Hawaii, where they're putting wholesale price caps in place. Yeah, *that'll* keep the gas stations supplied!
Columnist Thomas Sowell once made a good point that price is not the same thing as cost. Price is what pays for cost. Most people don't understand that, and most politicians count on most people not understanding that.
Posted by: The Sanity Inspector at September 02, 2005 10:54 PM (Q5C2f)
7
Yep, price is not the same as cost, and money has no value, but is simply representative of value. It's all part of the pesky free market supply and demand thing, but the average liberal idiot has no knowlege of such things, as they all studied Marxist Economics in college.
Posted by: Improbulus Maximus at September 03, 2005 12:01 PM (0yYS2)
8
Yeah, taxes should follow their natural course without interference from legislators. With the tax in place four days ago, there was no gas in this city (Augusta,GA). Fortunately, it disappeared so quickly there was't much time for price gouging. The cause wasn't exactly an economic law, neither was the absence of gasoline solved by one.
They fixed the pipeline.
Gasoline is now back and (somehow) it's actually twenty cents cheaper than it was this morning. But since Sonny Perdue had to go and get himself involved in the natural order of things here, I'll keep you all posted on the inevitable hoarding, scarcity, and price increases in the next few days.

Rusty,
It looks like someone beat the crap out of you with wet noodles! Who was it: students, school administrators or Kossacks?

You're a much bigger man that I suspected. I had you envisioned at pygmy size. Very small hands and feet. Unless you just blurred over a pic of Jesse Ventura. I was expecting "South Park" Rusty so this is a step up.

It's a shame to have to work in an environment so hostile you have to remain anonymous. Where I work the worst case scenario is that I have to use monosyllabic words and speak very slowly - and even then I have to repeat myself two or three times.
And you ARE a handsome devil. ;-)

What, no mention of the Koran flushing, the ongoing Crips vs. Bloods fued, or the hot lesbo action? Disappointment.
P.S. Get rid of those sideburns.

I could tell from his winning Blog Sabbath Caption Contest entry that Phin is tha shizznit.
Head on over to his Blog Design Auction to help victims of Hurricane Kuntrina, and you too can have a kickass blog design like The Jawa Report. Assuming you get the winning bid, of course.

WTW Reno Lied Babies Died.
As a tribute to the fine arguments of the left I have come up with the real scapegoats for 9-11/GWOT and because IÂ’m a little nuts. Enjoy.
Once upon a time there was and Attorney General Named Reno. One day she called up the news and said, "Hey everyone get to Waco, going to be a big show for you". Well the show kind of didnÂ’t go well. So Janet made up lies about what was going on inside. This led to the storming of the compound and barbecued babies. This led to the Oklahoma City bombings more death and dead babies. The MSM and Janet and Bill all had a good time watching their handy work on the TEEVEE along with the Islamists who were inspired by all this. Osama then thought, "Hey letÂ’s bomb America too", and they did. So as you can clearly see the blame for Waco, the Oklahoma city bombing, 9/11, the 1993 WTC bombing, the USS Cole bombing, The London Bombings so on and so forth are all directly caused by Janet Reno and Bill Clinton For appointing her. There Cindy put than in your pipe and smoke it.
Capitalism gone mad.
Ok I like John Wayne. Yes he’s rough he’s tough and he don’t take no shit from nobody. But that’s really not the qualities I’m looking for in the restroom. I’m not sure how much more of a dividend my company can pay with this new “John Wayne Paper” but won’t that be offset by efficiency loss due to “uncomfortable” employees? Are corn cobs the next logical step to improve profitability?
