Reader Love Mail

I love leftists who still cling to the illusion that the Nazis were "right-wing" and that anti-semitism is something practiced in Christian churches. However, if they would examine their own rhetoric they might understand why killing Americans has such support in the world. Here's some reader "love mail" that might open some eyes. Just a note of caution to posters, I reserve the right to publish e-mail and IP adresses.

Man...why hadn't I thought of that? Of course! It's the Jews! (smack forehead) Seriously though - I've been getting a lot of foreign visitors lately. I think it's from being linked to you! Actually I've gotten a couple of very nice, supportive emails from Australians - very encouraging, and a nice counter to the wackjobs.

One other thing - in all fairness, the Nazis were right-wing. They didn't start out that way; when Hitler first joined, it really was a Nationalist Socialist party. But when he took it over, he discarded the Socialist part of their platform. The Nazis busted up unions and Hitler allowed big firms like Krups to make millions off of government contracts. The social legislation of the Nazi government was often what we would consider socialist, but it's considered the center in Europe. In other words, I'm trying to say that Nazism was whatever Hitler wanted it to be at any given moment. Sometimes it was on the left, but for the most part Nationalism was the constant.

Maybe, but why is nationalism the hall-mark of 'right-wing'? It seems to be the two most important factors in ideological alignment are 1) government intervention in the economy (for or agin) 2) government intervention in social engineering (for or agin) I think things like foreign policy and nationalism just happened to often be bundled beliefs along with others.

right-wing: n., The conservative or reactionary faction of a group. conservative= resistant to change or progress, upholding tradition(my definition).

The term 'right-wing' goes back to the French Revolution when supporters of the King and other conservative forces happened to sit next to each other on the right side of the assembled body. How are the Nazis, who were for eugenics, against traditional marriage, anti-established religious order, and were a self-proclaimed social revolutionary group resemble anything like Conservatives or other right-wing group?

Rusty, This is what I call the "Chameleon Fallacy". An individual who commits it will take A) a term, title, or concept, and apply it to B) their target group, individual, or position. Then, when they are shown logically how A does NOT apply to B, they'll redefine A so that it DOES apply, thus sticking B with the stigma that comes with the original meaning of A, even though that stigma is undeserved.

Yeah, that guy is a typical leftist. Is this how the Shackleford empire is to be constructed? Come on.

Exactly where did I use the term "typical leftist"? Don't put words in my mouth. While it's true that I often observe individuals of a leftist persuasion engaging in this kind of argument, it's a termed I coined while observing discussions that had nothing to do with politics, and it's sadly commonplace regardless of the topic or persuasion of the offender. Of course, it's easier to just construct a straw man "He's trying to paint all leftists with that brush" argument than to actually prove that what I described isn't exactly what Jack did.

Whoops, sorry, Peter, I thought you meant the ongoing comments, not the original post. My apologies. He's not typical of all leftists, but he is becoming all too commonplace among leftists these days, especially among the demonstration crowds.

Bally Phew...A ridiculous, strawberry, Tinky Winky-La-Laa word to substitute profanity. Why then can rabid anti americans who see events as the fall of the WTC with such a gleefull stance can equally "deserve all that they can get in the world" since they sanction the genocidal war of exterminion of IslamicFascism as shown in its true colors by the 9-11 atrocity. Russell Ayer:Would you like to be "sorted" as the descent brits of SAS say" Since we deserve to be killed in mass and you palce squarelly on the Islamic fascist mindset, why then you don't deserve to be killed as a mortal enemy of the US who validates and maybe,in the future, even take part in an act of mass murder like 9-11? It's fair then to be able to put a couple of 9mm in your head and any other of the types that believe "we deserve all that ..." and are apologizing for Osama and Saddam? At first glance the answer is YES! BUT that won't ever happen since scoundrels like you live in a system that permits your stupidity to flourish even among the "intelligetzia" of our College Campuses.a system guaranteed for the US and other countries, even yours, by the sacrifices of countless US military personnel. It's not a fair world, isn't? We are the civilized people but some people can't side with decency and civilization, just can't fail to be on the side of totalitarism. The Islamist savages can count on such hatefull, mediocre, full of complexes individuals even inside the US to be the bums loud mouthing hate and can count with the soft spoken scoundrels of the non-judgemental, relativist, moral equivalency, war-is-not the answer, sionism is rascism, anti western civilization hipocrites.

I was thinking maybe he had a lisp or something, and was trying to convey his speech defect in writing...bally phew...or is the "bally" actually pronounced "bawley" so as to mean, something like a scarcity of testicles...perhaps the "phew" part of it is that exhalation of air after an exertion of some sort. So that a "bally phew" may be a term for blowing a load? But if the bally phew rhymes with say, ballyhoo, the maybe it means some sort of deficient hoopla...or maybe its an especially strenuous hype campaign that its tantamount to blowing a load. So, if that's the case, he must be using metaphor to mean the Kerry-Edwards campaign for President... but I am just speculating.
