More Reader Love Mail

Did MPJ get a mention at the Democratic Underground or what? I'm getting some serious hate comments these days. Here's what Erik wrote in reply to a post on the Religion of Beheadings:

I am mad, Bush got us into this mess, I wish they'd decaptitate him! i would pay for that.
PS-Erik's e-mail is dgrombacher@cbot.com

Oh, here's another one posted by Earle J. Landry (ejl1105@aol.com) to one of my many Kitty Kelley rants:

Your apologies and generalities cannot excuse this criminal nation of the foul deeds that are recognized by the civilized world, which includes The World Court and the United Nations. Media apologists must carry the guilt and convictions yet to come. Kitty Kelley provides excellent insights.

1 I got a doozy the other day, and the guy's email address was @democratunderground.org. Which I guess means he's an employee or volunteer. Maybe there's a new troll-directive from Soros.

2 Dude, congrats!! It's a sign that you've made it big time.

3 Speaking of making it, back during the height of Memogate, I made it all the way to marauding marsupial. Now I'm back to flappy bird status. *sigh* Back on topic: these people frighten me. But I'm not sure which is scarier -- the level of anger and hatred -- eg "I am mad, Bush got us into this mess, I wish they'd decaptitate him! i would pay for that." or the level of stupidity, eg "Kitty Kelley provides excellent insights."

4 Generations from now historians will look on the American Left in this episode as an equivelant to the John Birch Society: paranoid, hysterical, delusional, marginal.

5 Brian, the decapitation one is much scarier and is treasonous...also, criminal if I'm not mistaken. Johnny, dude, unfortunately historians write history.

6 Rusty, Yeah, I think you should forward it to the Secret Service.

7 RS, you're right about the short-term history. I'm talking long-term, though, long after anyone now alive is gone. I'm talking a hundred years. Compare the contemporary coverage of the Spanish Amerian war to how historians deal with it now, for an example (of course, liberals will say "Iraq is the Spanish American war!!!! Don't you see!!!!!")

8 But heck - what do I know? Hah. You could very well be right. Maybe the Spanish American war was a bad example

9 Remember that Charlie Brown Halloween special where Charlie Brown kept saying, "all I got was a rock" whenever he checked his bag? Well, all I got was a rock. This is what passes for hate mail on my site. I'm definitely doing something wrong. "Are you out of your gourd? Bush is the least intelligent president in history." Not to rain on your parade... Oh speaking of which, how was the camping?

Posted by: Gordon at September 20, 2004 01:42 PM (7sq4M)

10 Camping was good, pretty fun. Except for the poison ivy. My first case, ever.

Posted by: RS at September 20, 2004 01:45 PM (JQjhA)

11 Well, I think think you're the tops.

12 Oh my, that's really scary - frightening. Hate to think our troops are defending people of that mentality. ~C
