You say that this took you only an hour to complete. I'm hoping that theres a slight exaggeration in that statement. I and other lesser mortals hang on to that hope with a fervent desire to know and appreciate that we really are not as slow at typing as our inner gremlins would have us believe! Seriously though, what you wrote was the best piece of informed history I have yet seen on this blog. The consequences of State appathy on such a grand scale,as this most surely was, have implications not only for the state and its people but for the whole civilised world. I remember Carter from when I was about 15 years old. Whenever I think of him I can never erase the image of a man looking so hopless and forlorn, defeat etched on his face, a completely broken man. The absolute shock and heartbreak I felt when I saw live on my T.V. screen the dead bodies of American Forces being pulled and paraded, by jubilant Iranians after their helicopter was downed in that doomed, desperate bid on the part of Carter,to rescue hostages at any cost will stay with me forever. Needless to say we are still suffering the repercussions of that today with these ragheads thinking the taking of hostages will weaken the resolve of the coalition . How wrong they are. Give em hell George.

Dude, get better, or we'll hunt you down and make you watch Barney with Hillary Clinton. For real and stuff. Thanks for the link, home-slice.

I think sopotamia's comments were from the previous post, but point well taken. I'm feeling much better now...I'm not dead yet.

AH HA: Sopotamia brought up the issue dragging and multilating dead bodies. NOW I ASK YOU. Are people who act like this civilized. HELL NO. Then why must we treat them like civilized people. We cannot respond to them in a civilized manner. Their own actions supply the answer. WE DON'T HAVE TO AND SHOULD NOT. They will not understand any other way but their way. So let's reply with something they understand. The people mutilating dead bodies are not the terrorists. But they support them even in this goulish fashion. I only hope that soon they get something they understand. In the words of the Islamic idiots after 9/11. IF GOD DIDN'T WANT IT TO HAPPEN HE WOULD PREVENT IT.

Yes my intention was to post my comment on your 'ISLAMISTS DECLARED WAR ON THE USA 25 YEARS AGO TODAY 'posting'. I realised right away when I did it but it was too late and I was hoping nobody would notice.I must be getting old. Still I'm glad it has been read. If ever a president carried the weight of a nation Carter was your man.

Greyrooster, right with you on that one. The only language they understand. Cutting off a head is bad enough. But then they place the severed head on the guys back like he's holding it himself. We already know they are evil. This is an act of pure defiance. It's as if they are saying; Ha America! Bush! Look what we do! What are you waiting for! Come and get us! I only hope we do, soon.

What about that poor bastard Japanese guy who was beheaded WHILE LYING ON TOP OF THE AMERICAN FLAG!!! WTF is up with that one? The poor fucker had NOTHING to do with it, at least they should get their countries straight. That one really upset me...here's a poor, misinformed, misguided wanderer...shit, maybe he was wandering around for so long he didn't even know what the hell was going on in Iraq! To slaughter this young fellow for no other reason other than the fact that they could appalls me. And those bleeding heart lib's STILL believe that it's our fault it's come to this? And that violence breeds violence? Sorry, folks but this is the only language they seem to understand. Fuck em, get rid of them all.
