UPDATE: I can honestly say that getting a mention on Air America gets you just as many hits as a mention on CNN. NONE.

Tom Cruise Not Welcome in Paris

(Paris) If you're a communist, socialist, anarchist, or jihadist, you'll likely not be hassled in France. Unfortunately, Tom Cruise picked the wrong "ist."

From The Australian:

THE Paris city hall has pledged not to make US actor Tom Cruise an honorary citizen - because of his membership of the Church of Scientology.
In a debate late yesterday, the Socialist-controlled municipal assembly approved a resolution "never to welcome the actor Tom Cruise, spokesman for Scientology and self-declared militant for this organisation."

The French, along with many other European countries, have deemed that Scientology is a dangerous cult and Cruise is considered a "sect-symbol" for the cult.

My take is that one doesn't have to be European to suspect that Scientology is a cult. Just take a close look at Tom Cruise's eyes while he's being interviewed.

15 I certainly believe that prople are free to choose their own religion,as long as they can keep their noses out of others.The problem with this particular group is their musing re:medicine. I have a brother-in-law who was attending some "church" down in Texas, I cannot say that I know for sure whether it was Scientology or not,but they professed that same belief and told my B-I-L to quit his meds,and he did. A few days later he went totally KAZOO and rammed his truck into rent-a cops around a University. He's now in Tex.Corrections doing at least 10 years.TC needs to keep his mouth shut re:meds, he's not a doctor.And yes he looks quite Stepford-ish.

16 In all fairness to Tom (can't believe I'm typing this), there has to be a balance here. Obviously some people with serious conditions need meds, but we are, these days, a little too quick to slap a prescription on someone--especially children diagnosed with ADD. Some restraint is called for on the medical profession.

Muslim nations vow to help end Iraq insurgency

I'll just say it's about time. I hope this comes to fruition.

"Ministers of member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) meeting in Yemen agreed to help "rebuild Iraq and enabling the Iraqi government to maintain security and stability," Yemeni Foreign Minister Abubakr al-Qirbi told reporters."

I'm thinking we could use Ginsburg's place for a new multiplex, Souter's pad for a new Bed Bath and Beyond, Kennedy's house might be converted into a Starbucks, and maybe Breyer won't fight the eminent domain eviction order that will soon turn his loft-space into a Barnes & Noble. On Monday June 27, Logan Darrow Clements, faxed a request to Chip Meany the code enforcement officer of the Towne of Weare, New Hampshire seeking to start the application process to build a hotel on 34 Cilley Hill Road. This is the present location of Mr. Souter's home.
Clements, CEO of Freestar Media, LLC, points out that the City of Weare will certainly gain greater tax revenue and economic benefits with a hotel on 34 Cilley Hill Road than allowing Mr. Souter to own the land.
The proposed development, called "The Lost Liberty Hotel" will feature the "Just Desserts CafÃƒÂ©" and include a museum, open to the public, featuring a permanent exhibit on the loss of freedom in America. Instead of a Gideon's Bible each guest will receive a free copy of Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged."
Clements indicated that the hotel must be built on this particular piece of land because it is a unique site being the home of someone largely responsible for destroying property rights for all Americans.

Mmmmm, Whaleburgurs!!!

Is there anything the Japanese can't improve? One day I hope the Japanese figure out how to flash-fry a buffallo in 30 seconds. Until then, we'll have to settle for whale burgers! Al Jazeera:

The 380-yen ($3.50) slice of fried minke whale in a bun went
on sale on Thursday at Lucky Pierrot, a restaurant chain in the port city of Hakodate on Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido.
"We have decided to add a whale burger to our menu due to strong demand from our customers and feel very thankful to the whales for allowing us to make the burgers," said Lucky Pierrot manager Miku Oh.
"The taste and texture are somewhere between beef and fish," she said, adding: "People in Hakodate have a long history of eating whale, so customers are looking forward to trying it."
But customers wanting to try it better get there fast, the chain is currently producing only 200 burgers a day spread out over its 10 outlets.

It's official: Christina Aguilera's Music is Torture

Ok, I now admit that interogation methods used at Camp X-Ray in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, were in fact torture. Ananonva:

Christina Aguilera's music has reportedly been used to interrogate a leading al Qaeda suspect at Guantanamo Bay.
Time magazine says her songs were played to try to break down Mohammed al Qahtani who is believed to be the so-called 20th hijacker.
Qahtani is thought to have tried to enter the US in August 2001 as part of the team which took part in the September 11 attacks.

That's cruel and unusual in my book....

11 I'd consider being forced to listen to very loud Muslim music for hours on end torturous. While I completely disagree with likening Guantanemo as being a "gulag," I'll also say that some torture doesn't need to be physical. I mean, it's not the fact that it's Christina Aguilera that makes it torture (though I'd still find listening to her torture). You also need to keep some things in a cultural perspective. You can find no shortage of neocon bloggers who will gladly detail how terrible Islam is and why the west is superior, yet when it comes to "torture" try to generalize across a western vantage point. Sure, Islam is different from our western viewpoints; so, if you accept that, you also have to accept the fact that some things aren't so innocuous in Islam. Are they being physically tortured? Likely not. Are they not being tortured at all? Who knows.

3 I heard yesterday that if Jackson is convicted, he will serve time in Corcoran Prison. It's about half way between Fresno and Bakersfield, on the very hot and dry side of the San Joaquin Valley. Sirhan Sirhan and Charles Manson are both there. Roomies!

5 Supposedly it's the safest of the "safe facilities" where celebrity inmates serve their time. Serial killers, mass murderers, etc. The conditions inside the prison sound WAY more luxurious than what you might expect.

6 This woman creeps me out, but Greta just has a sad feel of a smart person who's been reduced to stunt-law broadcasting. The other chick is "a polished mannequin" with a bad drawl. I thought Charlie was in Folsom or at the Q, but he's since been transferred to Corcoran. Considering that he's spent about 50 of his 67 years in institutions, it shouldn't surprise me that he gets around like this. I wonder what Jacko thinks of that. The Protein Wisdom Prison Diaries should be interesting, though.

7 I hate Nancy Grace with every fiber of my being. I hate her on the subatomic level; my neutrons, protons, and electrons hate her, and if I ever get close to her, my atoms might spontaneously split and detonate. I hate her stupid cartoon character face. I hate her accent that's even worse than a fake Southern accent. I hate her clothes for being worn by her. I hate the chair she sits in and the ground she walks on. I hate the lightning for not striking her every time she goes outdoors. But do you want to know why I hate her? Because when that crazy Wilbanks chick hopped a bus to Vegas, Grace was the first to declare her poor, nervewracked, devastated boyfriend a murderer. Not only did the poor man think that his wife was abducted and possibly dead, but he was being accused of it on national television. If I was him I would have hunted Nancy down and gutted her like a fish on live television. But hey, I'm crazy like that.

9 Will Nancy Grace apologize to viewers for her hateful awful one sided coverage of the Jackson trial? Does she feel guilty at all about continuously feeding us venemos hateful one sided information about this trial? I can't beleive that CNN allows this kind of irresponsible reporting. We have watched her manipulate information to create ratings for her show. It is disgusting and I hope God will forgive her when she moves on from this planet. She is clearly an awful phony delivering lies and one sided stories to try to entertain us. How pitiful...when will we petition to get her off the air before she does some real damage to someone innocent?.

10 Hi, I just stumbled across this site and dont have all that much to say, but i did want to comment on how awful Nancy Grace is. I have no idea how this woman has her own show. She is annoying and arrogant. If you do not voice the SAME EXACT opinions as Nancy Grace there there is no need what so ever to appear on her show. Any guest that says anything other than her thoughts is quickly dismissed. Why the hell does she have other speakers on the show? Why doesnt she sit there in her ugly clothes and go on a rant on her own for an hour...no need for others except maybe the camera guy. I am SO glad that Michael Jackson was found innocent on all charges...of course because I believe he is innocent and a good man who is a misunderstood....but in addition to that I get to see Nancy Grace get so pissed because she was WRONG!! I love it!! She was so mean to him the entire duration of the trial. That witch was SO sure he was guilty...you would have thought she was molested by him....there was nothing that could sway her opinion. I cannot wait until her show in cancelled. God, I hope that day is really soon. Thanks!

She is so passionate and compelling, you can't wait to hear what she is going to say next so you can rant and rave. Although we all don't agree with her view on issues, we can all certainly agree she is a magnetic personality that gets your attention. 13 Nancy Grace is a typical southern "lady for show" who is more concerned with presenting a morally perfect front than she is about anything else. She became a lawyer after her fiance was murdered in some sort of quest for justice, but she dropped that act without skipping a beat in favor of becoming a T.V. star. It's a good thing that she was only a mediocre attorney at best, because he is devoid of ethics. To even compare Greta Van Susteren to Tweety Bird is like comparing the Three Tenors to New Kids on the Block. One may be more your tastes, but one may also mean you are a mindless sheep impressed by shiny objects. Greta single handedly jump started the Holloway case and offers unbiased and intelligent insight into the case. Nancy's high points include stuffing her face with a sandwich to in an attempt to make a joke about her crusade against Michael Jackson and accusing the groom of the runaway bride of murder before knowing anything about the case. We should round up Grace, O'reilley, Kavuto, Tom Cruise, Bush, Paris Hilton, and Jackson and send them to fight the good fight on the front lines in Iraq. Let them spend a few months sleeping in tents, dodging hand grenades and weapons fire, and not being given basic luxuries like soap, hot food, and socks. My guess is that all would come back with a totally new outlook on the world... if they made it back alive, that is.

16 Love her or hate her, Nancy Grace is definitely hot! I remember when she was much younger and was a prosecuter in Atlanta. Always wore heavy make-up, 4" stilletto heels, and what we used to call "Melrose Place" suits with short skirts. She seemed to enjoy the attention she received, and would often be seen in the company of some of Atlanta's professional black athletes.

Undoubtedly the majority of heterosexual males would agre that from a physical appearance standpoint, the young Nancy as a prosecutor in Atlanta was a "smoking hot" lady. I have often seen her in the upscale Buckhead suburb of Atlanta turning quite a few heads. Ever witnessed her sriding through the courthouse or a shopping mall in 4'pumps? She exudes a confidence and raw sexuality whether you agree with her stances on current issues or not.

20 we watch nancy and greta every nite, reading some of the comments listed sounds like a lot of uneducated people talking, if someone can make this world with murderers,rapists, sex offenders and the like brought to justice everyone should be thrilled that these women bring the national attention that they do to help make the world a better place. keep up the superb work nancy and greta!now about the natalee holloway case, the possibility that she is still alive and maybe in some white slavery ring,the reward i think should help in some way for some info. if that family doesnt get some answers, I would ask the world to boycott that island until some info is found to be concrete. unfortunate for the people there to suffer the consequences of the loss of tourism but this family has suffered enough with very little answers from the aruban gov.so i say have the world back them up until this has been solved. greta and nancy tell the world to boycott aruba. and again nancy and greta keep up the good informative work.

The man was out for revenge after being fired from his job at the construction Co. Said her boyfriend was driving a jeep, It was a Bronco that belonged to the Construction Co. Said it was robbery. It was not. Said they found KeithÂ’s wallet with $35.00 and her picture in McCoyÂ’s home No wallet was found in his home. Just the 38 cal. revolver Ser# 33866 . (GriffinÂ’s wallet was found several days after the incident in the Bronco, by Eli Ingram,) Said it was a mugging. It was not. Said it was random. It was not. Said he was still alive when he arrived at the hospital. He was pronounced dead at the scene . Said she was asked by Joe Briley the District Attorney if he should seek the death penalty. The State did ask for the Death Penalty. The jury voted against it. She said she testified at the trial. 5 I'm not sure they'll "win anyone over", but it resonates with more truth because they are really in the thick of things between two completely opposing ideologies with world-wide implications and their very lives are at stake. And I think it trumps the "Bitch & Ho" stuff put out by some rap artist wearing his Mr. T starter kit around his neck and being driven around in his limo. That was my only point. 6 No, I understand your point about the hedonism that runs through much of the rap culture. In contrast, this is refreshing, but the Left may see it (the language, the violence, the questioning of the war) as more proof of "what's wrong" with the war. Who knows? I'm just wondering aloud here. I don't even like to use the word "music" in conjunction with rap, but I like the group's spunk.

9 That was funny, but even funnier was the juxtaposition of Herman Munster's and W's college pics. One looks like an all-American boy, destined for greatness and hot chicks, (check and double-check, Laura is a BABE!), and the other looks like several generations of blueblood inbreeding come to fruition. If you study the history of it, you'll see that the US has literally wasted shitloads of money trying to keep people from smoking weed. I don't even smoke weed, but I'd make it legal before drinking just for the reason that I've never seen someone get in a fight because they were stoned, and stoned drivers have much more coordination than drunk ones. Plus, think of all the money that could be made by selling it legitimately and having it be taxed!

6 Carlos, sure...I can have a glass of wine or a beer and not get wasted. But anyone can take just one hit off a joint for a little buzz as well. So, I don't get what you are implying, because both can be used in moderation, or abused. I do know that while pot can be psychologically addictive, alcohol is psychologically and physically addictive. Also, when you say the word 'dope' I don't think weed, since I've always heard that word in connection with heroin. Anyway, my main point is that letting people get baked legally would only stimulate the economy through taxing it & the sharp rise in snack sales!

11 YBP: I agree with you...the only problem is that many people abuse the 'it's healthy to drink' thing. Drinking 1-2 glasses of red wine is good for 2 reasons: the tannins contain antioxidants and it calms you down, thus less stress. If you go over a glass or two, the toxicity level of your blood alcohol level while your liver is dealing with it negates the positive effects of the antioxidants. It also prevents you from sleeping as deeply as you would if you were sober. (REM sleep) I recently saw a huge (no pun intended) full page advertisement encouraging people to be a little pudgy and saying it was healthy to be a little overweight. Guess who paid for the ad? I'm sure you can guess. Anyway, doctors are already horrified that our obese culture is taking this as a green light to binge.

13 I used to consume lots of beer. I got tired of the stupid stuff I did when drunk and totally quit for about 5 years. Now 10 years later I can assure you I get quite a good buzz off about two beers and don't feel the need to drink 12 and make and ass of myself. I think it may be called growing up. But if you don't get a buzz off two they call that tolerance and indicates you may drinking more than two on occasion which is fine but don't lie to yourself. Lie to me all you want. YBP is right though, weed is bad for you as is cheeseburgers, fries, cigarettes, Drinking 12 beers, Too much sun, Stress, Pizza, chasing ho's and just about anything else thats fun. Osama yep that'll make you hurl every time. Reverse the order. I just don't think that making a stupid mistake like burning one should cost you your job, your reputation, 2 G's etc, etc. But for sure the risks are far greater than the return and considering those risks I choose not to do that anymore but that is the only reason I make that choice. Got too much to loose. Damn I hate being a grown up except for the hangovers, fines, wrecked cars, etc, etc. Can't say I miss those.

16 Howie....sure is funny that almost everything people desire can be pretty bad for them, huh? When I drank beers and ate pizza all the time I was 205 lb... I stopped all of that and dropped 50 lb. in a month. I had to work out to get some more muscle back since my sloth behavior had taken some of that away...so now I'm a lean and mean 175 and have been for about 10 years. Oh yeah, and I did reverse it with better results...hehe. Can't say I suffered hangovers since for some strange genetic fluke I don't get headaches. Same with my dad. I just get a little dehydrated if I had too much to drink...

19 Hey y'all have a good one. I'm pretty thrilled I got over a big hump at work and just gotta build on it. I'm also pretty bummed. Yesterday my dog (bo) had a massive epilleptic seizure and died. I was pretty much crushed. But I did have a glass of wine and listened to some Hank SR for my blues. The widower down the road had about 1/2 a fifth left of what I gave him. I guess that's the good thing about making it 5 gallons at at time you can drink/give it away a lot faster than you can make it. Prevents boozehound relapse too.

21 I drink. And I can't remember when I drank even a half a beer without getting a buzz. (Okay so I'm a light weight.) I think it's all a ploy to keep us from smoking pot because those who are "high" drive slowly and cities would lose a lot of income from speeding fines. ;-) And just think, if an accident did occur, it's not likely that anyone would get hurt if they're all going so slow. So our insurance rates should go down. More people would be hugging and kissing. Even the jihadis might gain a sense of humor and we could lure them into traps with twinkies. 22 Yeah the poor old guy and his wife had no childen either. He has pretty much taken up with my dogs. He takes them for rides and even to Mcdonalds once in a while. I was sure he'd be wondering what happened to Bo so I went down and helped him feed his horses and broke the news to him. After that we had a little drink in honor of our fallen buddy. Bo is the second dog I've had with epilepsy (what are the odds?) The one I had before had a lot of seizures and I ended up having to put her on meds. Bo had only had one (at least noticeable ones) about 18 months ago. The plan was if he had more or had a bad one we would put him on the meds. Well the next one killed him so don't screw around with it. Like most things I learned the hard way and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Plus the meds for dogs are dirt cheap.

I'll tell you this...if the shit hits the fan, cats split the scene and dogs defend you. Plus, when is the last time anyone wrestled with a cat then played fetch? As for my girl's cats...one of them is completely psycho. It hid near the crapper once and bit my finger when I was reaching for the toilet paper. I actually had to hit the bastard off into the tub. It got infected and I couldn't bend my middle finger for a month *which didn't stop me from doin' anything* What sucked was having to take 2000 mg of amoxicillin every 12 hours and eating more yogurt than a pakistani goat herder to keep my shit from running. The doc said a dog bites don't get too infected...but a human bite is absolutely the worst. Anyway, hope you got a laugh out of that one. Get another dog!

Ok, as an avid Dave Chappelle fan, I've got to say that this one totally is throwing me for a loop. The star of the drug comedy Half Baked and the man who single-handedly made the word bitch acceptable in every day usage doesn't drink alcohol and won't eat pork?
