A College Bowl Week Poem
Vinnie and Rusty watchin' the tv
Texas versus USC
First come the Huskers
Second comes Big 12
Then comes Rusty crying because Texas kicked USC's ass, and Vinnie is rooting for Texas because Texas is in the Big 12, and a win will make the Big 12 look good.
- the end
Eh, next year, the Huskers will play Texas, and I'll go back to hating them as usual.
Ya'll can have the comments to talk smack about the college bowl games.
Michigan fans bitching about the bad officiating will be deleted. The refs made bad calls on both sides the whole game. Great teams overcome all adversity, even bad refs, so STFU.

Tajikistan Swastika

(Dushanbe, Tajikistan) Tajik historians maintain that Tajiks are of Indo-European or Aryan origin and, as a consequence, the authorities in Dushanbe have
adopted a stylized version of the swastika as the national symbol. Tajik officials contend that the swastika is a symbol of Aryan culture that has existed for many centuries and has many interpretations. According to Abduhakim Sharipov, administration official,
"We all know that fascism used this symbol for its purposes. This symbol therefore carries negative connotations for many ... ;[but] we should not limit ourselves to only one interpretation."
The authorities want the swastika to gain newer, positive connotations and popularize Aryan contributions to the history of the world civilization.
My hope is that international pressure comes to bear on Tajikistan to reconsider its decision on the swastika.
As an aside, Dushanbe is the capital of Tajikistan and the sister city to Boulder, Colorado. So, don't be surprised if a few more swastikas show up in Boulder, arguably already one of the most left-leaning American cities.

Let's be fair - northern Indians should have first dips on the Aryan name thing.
Personally, it looks Klingon to me. Maybe it should be debated at one of those TREK Conventions - now that would be a sight!

The eastern (Hindu, Japanese, etc) swastika is an important cultural symbol....I don't think we can deny the symbol to certain cultures because of what happened over 60 years ago. Let the past die. It's only through this Hollywood/Spielberg emphasis on "Aryan" and "Swastika" do we forget the true meanings of the terms and convolute them with our own unhealthy and disturbing over-sensitivities.
The Falun Gong symbol, however, is reversed....I don't understand how anyone could have a problem with it (except the ignorant).

East Asians in general see the swastika as a religious symbol. Having lived in Japan I got used to seeing it (reversed from the Nazi form) used to mark the location of Buddhist temples on all the maps.
I went to training with an officer in the Taiwanese Navy and got to be on pretty good terms with him, so he often asked me about U.S. culture. He asked me once, totally deadpan, why Americans are so scared of the swastika. He's a pretty well-educated guy, so I guess Nazis just aren't the bugbear for the Taiwanese that they are for us in the West.
I don't know how far west you have to go in Asia for Nazis and all their iconography to loom large in cultural memory. I doubt Tajikistan is far enough though. What upset there is might have more to do with the feelings of the ethnic Russian minority than the true Tajiks. I might get to find out though. I'm trying to find work there.

A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER
It was Christmas eve day and all through the house Two little children ran around like a mouse. The excitement was building. The moment was near. It would not be long be fore St. Nick would be here.
Christmas is shared due to divorce, this was dads year, it sadly turned into remorse.
Granted they were being fresh, as most kids are, but as I see it dad took it a little to far.
They were told they were bad & the gifts would go back, if they didnÂ’t behave & stop the crap. As children this is what weÂ’ve all been told, but to actually have it happen is out of control.
Christmas for these kids is the same for you & me, they woke with excitement to see whatÂ’s under the tree.
Except for these kids who were told they were bad, awoke on Christmas morn & instead being happy, they were very , very sad.
These children awoke from their beds with excitement & glee, to find NOTHING at all, under the tree.
They were sad & disappointed as most of us would be, Imagine how you would have felt at age 9 & 13, to find a bare tree.
Ya see, to them, Santa was a very nice man who lived long ago, thatÂ’s the story that is said, but as far as this house believes , he is now dead. Presents come from me & what I say goes, if I say NO gifts then thatÂ’s the way it goes.
Later that day when they returned home, their was toys for the boy & a bible book for the girl, sadly but true, she was told, that if you didnÂ’t open your mouth to the courts & start your stuff, you would have received more, I have to pay for an attorney now & he walked away in a huff.
PLEASE E- Post your comments @ www.itsyourtownus.blogspot.com or E- MAIL me at teenieh1@optonline.net My goal is to have as many emails & or letters to show this Judge the mental abuse that is going on and must be stopped!!!!!!!
PLEASE e mail everyone you know & ask them to do the same ( a chain if you will ) I know I will receive a lot & hope this will help.
Sincerely yours, MOTHER.

The swastika that became the symbol of the Nazis was an ancient symbol that was simply rotated through 45 degrees. The Tajiks say that there should be multiple interpretations of the symbol. However looking at their new, overly done swastika, it seems that they're not even so sure themselves. If no one told me that it was a swastika, it would probably take me a minute or so to realise it. It seems to be that they want a swastika, but are afraid to show it openly. If there's no reason to object, just use the original. Granted it is of ancient origins, but I think that the attrocities associated with it are still too great for it to be used once again as a national symbol. It's a shame that one culture has to be tainted by the actions of another, but that's the reality. There has to be some other Aryan symbol that could be used.

This was supposed to be a serious thread?
OK - Its an Eastern symbol - thousand of years old - appropriated by some Europeans for a few decades for their own purposes - none of which associated with its past symbolic inferences.
The Europeans are now "traumatized" by it.
Screw'em! Tell them to get over it and get some therapy - and stop looting the rest of the world's cultural heritage.

In a Catholic church near me, one that's about a hundred years old, there are tiles in the floor impressed with the images of swastikas and other things. The swastika is a sun-wheel and symbolizes life, power, and eternity, and just because it was used by bad people once doesn't make it a bad symbol, just highly recognizable.
DISCLAIMER:
If you are not smart enough to understand rhtorical argument and critical comparison, STOP READING NOW!
If the swastika is to be judged evil for the actions of those that carried it, what of the ancient warlike Hebrews who basically raped and pillaged their way across the ME three thousand years ago? Shouldn't the Magen David be held in the same regard? Oh wait, that's right, it is, and by the very people who supported the Nazis in WW2 and who still read Mein Kampf like it's on the NYT Best Seller List. The swastika and the Magen David are both religious and political symbols, but not necessarily both things to all people. I take no offense at one more than the other, because symbols are ultimately meaningless anyway, because it's actions that count.
If the Tajiks just want to celebrate their heritage, then fine, but if they have nefarious intentions, then what does a symbol mean anyway? It might do more harm than good to come down on them for it, because they have been isolated from the modern world for a long time, and might not understand our outrage, so it's best to meet them halfway and give them more than one option in going forward, because if we pressure them, they will likely do something just to piss the rest of the world off.

Oberlin College Women's Rugby Semi-Nude Calendar
(Oberlin, Ohio) With pom-poms and other props, the women's rugby team at Oberlin has
posed for a 2006 calendar to "challenge the way people think about women playing a traditionally male sport." Even bruised and sweaty, they're provocative.
"We aren't trying to sell ourselves, but we wanted to address important issues, like how women athletes are depicted sexually, and gender roles in sports," said team member Alia Kate. "It's about our empowerment as both women and athletes."
The hope is that people will be drawn to the photos (
sample) and then think seriously about the statements.
You know, when I look at men's magazines, I'm initially drawn by the pictures of the centerfold. But I become much more engaged when I read about her favorite foods and how she plans to stop world hunger.

Improbulus Maximus- Slight correction, I'm a Woman and bisexual. There is a very important difference between knowing what men find attractive (which I do) and *caring* what men find attractive(which I don't). It's attractive to see women redefine it for themselves without worrying about what men on the street or men on a message board think about it. To me and probably a lot of other women, that's attractive. Shows strength; plus they've got hot little bodies which doesn't hurt! More men should take notes.

In my opinion this was nothing more than a fundraising publicity stunt. The claims that it is a statement of feminist equality lost all its credibility when they took off their clothes. I thought feminists were opposed to women being looked at like sex objects? I would appreciate the intent if I believed it.

George,
Feminists are not against women's sexuality. They are against the idea that women's sexuality is subserviant and assumed to be so (i.e. she's a slut - he's a hero). If I woman decides to be sexual, then they should not have to answer to man for that choice.

Infidel-Zionist-Crusader Dogs Found Beheaded in Tokyo
Some headlines just write themselves. The
other obvious headline and related dog-eating jokes were deemed too
ethnically insensitive by The Jawa Report editorial board. Which, of course, means that you should feel free to leave them in the comments.
AP:
Some 30 dog heads were found discarded in a moat near Tokyo's main detention center, police said Friday....
The severed heads were mostly decomposed and some of them were skeletal, the police official said. The shape and size of the heads suggested they were of adult dogs, he said, adding that investigators believed no human heads were included....
Late Friday, an 82-year-old man who runs a neighborhood meat shop admitted to dumping the dog heads into the moat, and police are questioning him, public broadcaster NHK and Kyodo News agency said.
The man, whose name was not released, told police that he imported the dogs - frozen and already separated into heads and bodies - from China to sell as food, Kyodo said. All the torsos had been sold, and as there was little interest in the heads, the butcher said he dumped them in the moat, hoping they would be eaten by the fish.

Slug,
a few people die every year after consuming fugu.
I've read that if it's prepared properly, some of the toxin remains in the fish, and it makes your tongue numb.
Posted by: Steven Den Beste at December 18, 2005 12:19 PM (CJBEv)
18
Steven DB,
Fugu, especially females, harbor a bacteria in their ovaries that produce tetrodotoxin (TTX).
It's a symbiotic relationship between the fish, also commonly known as blowfish, and the bacteria.
TTX acts on voltage-gated sodium channels that control the initiation of an action potential (the nervous impulse carried by the ions Na+ and K+). TTX specifically inhibits the inactivation stage of sodium channel gating, causing a continuous action potential and a persistent nervous impulse that fails to reset.
Therefore, too much TTX causes paralysis and death by asphyxiation.
But, just the right amount leads to a feeling of numbness and euphoria.
Japanese chefs must be specially licensed to prepare fugu. It is a time honored tradition and a chef who causes the death of a patron is expected to commit Seppuku Harikari.

Tookie Execution Outrages Europeans
It's being reported that the Europeans are
outraged at the execution of Stanley Tookie Williams because it reminds them of the state-mandated murders committed by the Nazis.
I'd like to send every one of the outraged Europeans an electronic boo-hoo and ask why in the hell are they not outraged when al Qaeda kidnaps and beheads innocent civilians? And where is the outrage at generations of suicide bombers among the Palestinians? Until there's an expression of outrage against blatant murder by the terrorists, the Europeans can take their protest against capital punishment and shove it in their Danube.

Do these Europeans know the names of the victims?
The death penalty is society sending a message that murder is the ultimate crime and won't be tolerated. It is a message about the value of innocent life.
When societies give murderers a pass, it is sending a message about the value of the innoncent victim's life. Society is saying essentially that the victim has been forgotten in the mix.
How many Tookie lovers know the names of the victims?

No one in their right mind wishes for it to reach that far, but often it's unavoidable and preparations have to be made. In case you don't get the news under your rock, such a time has come again. Unfortunately it's not a local problem, it's a global one. So if it's your choice to sit around and be over run just so that you don't appear rude, that's your choice, but deal with the consequences. We however, choose not to be. Might I recommend a more suitable name for you to post under: Neville Chamberlain.

ben,
Just so you know. Money is not the most important thing in my life, whatever you might think. You euro trash can't seem to understand what makes us tick because you have no real experience with freedom.
The Socialist/Communist/Nazist statism that was dreamed up in Europe has never taken hold here in the US. To call us fascist is to show your stupidity. Liberty in the guise of Thomas Locke and Patrick Henry are the influences that guide us, not the bankrupt ideals of Marx, or the libertine equality of Voltaire.
And hey, ben, get a life and don't take every little thing so seriously. This is a blog where people discuss ideas, current events, and politics. Just so you will know, rhetoric sometimes gets heated and debate is hot. But damn, man, some things are said in jest or to make a point, or sometimes just to shock.

Here's a comment from a European from another blog:
Im from London England, and Iam sadened by what has happened to a man with consience. In my eyes God allowed him to die only to be re-born in a place where forgiveness is the law. He was a sane man who was misguided in his early years but found truth and enlightenment later in life. My heart and prayers go to Stanley Tookie Williams and those who were closest to him.

Ben's a hit-&-run doorbell ringer/poster - it may simply be best to not respond and ignore him.
The euros and the left don't really give a damn about Tookie - he's just the vehicle of the moment for their overall cultural agenda/war.
The easiest and most effective way to get clemency is to get the families of the victims to come forward in support.
There is even an old tradition of reparations or blood money to achieve this.
Its never done - the left doesn't put its money where its mouth is - Tookie's just an organic billboard poster to them - and a rather decaying one at that.
There are a lot of photos posted of the crowd at the prison - do note the ease in which they show up for one issue - but bring their baggage issues along as well - which in turn overshadows and soon takes center-stage.

Dave that email is from a foreigner, hence the name. Most of the British people consider themselves European as much as you would consider yourself grouped in with Canada as a North American. If you consider the EEC, the poorer countries lose their populations to the wealthier countries. The whole thing is an immigration disaster.

I was the resident engineer of Harlem Hospital for a time. Couldn't hack it. When back to Calif.
The people in New York were Okay. That is the ones who could speak English. Never a problem on the subways. Even late at night. All one has to do is go heeled and wear a loose, unbuttoned jacket.

Door-Slamming Music
(Bangui, Central African Republic) It seems that even in the middle of the Dark Continent, broadcasters are subjected to censorship.
From ABC News:
Central African Republic has ordered radio and television stations to stop broadcasting songs which encourage men to dump their wives, saying such music is a hindrance to the country's development.
Broadcasters had been told not to play any music which might inspire Central African men to look for new partners if the ones they were married to no longer satisfied their needs, interim Communications Minister Fidele Ngoundgika said.
I wonder how the "no longer satisfies needs" idea would play out in Ohio.

Dean-o Wants the Spotlight Again
Howard Dean seems to have two problems these days. First off, he wants the spotlight. You can tell just by watching him for five minutes that he can't stand it when someone else gets attention. But that only compounds his second problem which is the fact that he doesn't have anything original to say. Because of this, Dean has decided to steal the Murtha-ism that
we can't win in Iraq.
In a most unoriginal speech, he goes on to compare Iraq to Vietnam and insinuate that the Iraqi people are too helpless to take care of themselves. He then concludes with the most original "We cannot have our troops being targets there."
Taken along with his antics during the last Presidential primaries and his shenanigans since, this has made me see Dean in a whole new light...

Transmitting Touch Over the Internet
The mind boggles at the potential applications of this technology.
From Silicon.com:
Singapore scientists looking for ways to transmit the sense of touch over the internet have devised a vibration jacket for chickens and are thinking about electronic children's pyjamas for cyberspace hugs.
A wireless jacket for chickens or other pets can be controlled with a computer and gives the animal the feeling of being touched by its owner, researchers at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) told The Straits Times.
The next step would be to use the same concept to transmit hugs over the internet, the researchers said.
The researchers are thinking of some sort of pajamas which would be controlled by the Internet to adjust pressure and temperature and simulate the feeling of being hugged.
Of course, since the technology has only been tested on chickens, some people wonder how the scientists conluded that the sensations chickens feel are hugs and not squeezes or chokes. After all, chickens are usually not seen hugging and discussing the feeling with humans.
Presumably, there's a market for people who want to hug their chickens and children via the Internet. I'm interested in seeing what develops.

Will Work For Crack Campaign
(Kelowna, British Columbia) There's a politician, Andrew Uitvlugt, running for the mayor's office in Kelowna who has proposed a very creative solution to the problem of litter.
From EdmontonSun.com:
Andrew Uitvlugt says crack cocaine could be used as a reward for drug-addicted homeless people to pick up garbage.
"So what I propose to do is to possibly motivate people with drugs to do constructive work, like get them out there picking up garbage, and then we'll give them some crack," he says on the website www.okbc.tv in a wacky video campaign pitch.
"Now what'll happen here is, after they're done picking up their garbage, they're going to feel somewhat good, they're going to think to themselves, 'You know, I did a good job today.' And they're going to maybe need less crack."
You can see Uitvlugt's campaign video
here.
Besides not having a clue on how to pronounce his name, I suspect that Uitvlugt hasn't considered that his proposal would likely result in an increase in garbage along with an increase in people desiring to pick up garbage.

We took down a somewhat longer transcript of his "new idea" at
Independent Sources here. It includes "and hopefully after these people do that enough (pick up garbage and get free crack), their self esteem will get built up, and theyÂ’ll get so used to working doing constructive things that they will no longer need the crack."
He also has interesting ideas about the homeless.
I'm surprised he's not here in California!

Actually, in a perfect world it would be ingenious. Just think, the government could control drug production and distribution, and those who are inclined to become addicts could benefit from free drugs in exchange for productive labor. Give 'em a twenty rock or a snort of meth for every bag of garbage they pick up, and there wouldn't be a cigarette butt from Maine to California. They could be housed in the projects, transported to and from worksites by public transportation, and given food stamps to keep them alive, all in exchange for a quota of garbage. It's just like what we have now except that there is no benefit to the public, because everything else, other than government control of drugs, is in place.

Complaining About Big Breasts, Small Butts
Check out a recent feminist complaint from Australia.
A beer advertisement championing females with large breasts and a small behind has been slammed as portraying Australians as "a bunch of crude, sexist yobbos." The Foster's beer ad has been seen extensively throughout the Russian Federation. It depicts a bikini with a small top and a large bottom above the caption "the law of life." Below that is a bikini with a large top and a small bottom captioned "the law of Foster's."
The ad has prompted an angry response from Australian women. Women's Electoral Lobby Australia chairwoman Eva Cox said: "It is bloody stupid. "Why would they bother antagonising a whole pile of women who could drink Foster's? "Companies have got to get a bit smarter about this sort of stuff." (more)
Now, excuse me for being dense about this, but why would women be antagonized for being physically attractive? One could easily believe that Eva Cox wants women, in general, and any reference to female physical attributes, in particular, to be excluded from all advertising. Why? I don't know, but
I'd suggest that this woman named Eva Cox would benefit from a day of stiff homonyms. She needs to lighten up.

What kind of "woman" has a small butt? I honestly think men that are into small-butted women are just freaking wrong. Women are not supposed to look like young girls, or young boys, or like men, but like
women dammit! All soft fleshy curves and such, not flat surfaces and hard angles, with bones sticking out. The image of women that has been force-fed to society for forty years is that of Twiggy; androgenous and childlike, the vision of sick minds, rather than the perfectly womanly specimen of Marilyn Monroe, who had little appeal for the perverted deviants of Madison Avenue and Hollywood, who still seem to be split on whether they're more into underage boys or underage girls.
Is it any wonder that deviance in society, everything from homosexuality, to pedophilia, to Lord-knows-what, has increased geometrically in the last forty years? Is it any wonder that every day there are more cases of abduction and rape of young boys and girls by men who don't fit the classical profile of a deviant? I was watching a program on one of the cable news channels, I think it was MSNBC, and it was about pedophiles who troll the internet looking for kids in chat rooms, and they had a house set up so that they could actually bust them going to where they thought a kid was. It was sickening. They logged the chat conversations and printed them, and had the men come to the house, thinking they were going to meet a child for sex, but instead met the crew. One guy came in naked. It was morbidly funny, but sickening nonetheless. One man was a teacher, another a Rabbi, and all were "normal" men, other than the fact that they pegged my gaydar's needle. We have allowed to happen exactly what the liberals have been trying to accomplish; our moral fiber has come unraveled, and now we are not even shocked when we hear of another pedophile murdering a child, it's become like hearing the traffic report.
I've said it before, and I'll repeat it as often as I must: Liberals are a pestilence and a plague upon human society, and should all be taken out and shot.

She's a no make-up, tweed jacket and sensible shoes type academic and was without doubt hiding behind the fence when they were handing out feminity.

We used chemical weapons in Fallujah
Funny? I didn't see that question/answer in the quiz. Oh! Just realized! Thread question had absolutely nothing to do with your (the first) comment/response.
Let's see - you could post your own thread ... but then you could be easily ignored ... and you really wouldn't like that now would you?

A. Bill stealing his stapler
B. Wanting a piece of cake
C. Worrying about being late
D. It being cold
Correct answer will count toward your total, so don't f--- it up.

Shove this up your ass.
Sometime back, I reported to you that the Americans used something like napalm in Fallujah, it's called "White Phosphorous".
Go to:
http://www.uruknet.infi/?p=m10211&l=i&size=1&hd=0
(Change "infi" to "info")
to see the crispy Fallujans who were the victims of American white phosphorus bombs.
Now, the mainstream media has picked this story up too.
Jeff Englehart, described as a former US soldier who served in Falluja, tells of how he heard orders for white phosphorus to be deployed over military radio - and saw the results.
"Burned bodies, burned women, burned children; white phosphorus kills indiscriminately... When it makes contact with skin, then it's absolutely irreversible damage, burning flesh to the bone," he says."

Ghost you really are one of those affluent white gutless wannabe 90RPMs dormroom revolutionaries. Bet ya got your lil' revolutionary beret and a poster of Che to fantasize and jerk off to.
If you really believed all that crap then take a real stand and join the struggle! THEY ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS YOU KNOW!
Sitting alone behind a computer screen in a warm cozy room - surrounded by material luxury - ipods, CDs, etc ...
what's that french word starts with a b - how pathetic!
Bet your one of those idiotic fools who writes a letter (stern no less) in protest - gets a paper cut and considers it a Red Badge Of Courage - bleeding for the STRUGGLE.
I've got more respect for those crazy suicide car jockeys than a limp lil' pussy like you who can only fantasize about "being down with the Struggle" from the safety and security of your room.

Breast Group Motion Denied
Following up on a
previous post, U.S. District Judge Garland E. Burrell Jr.
ruled that there is "no First Amendment right to bare breasts on the grounds of the state Capitol" and refused to restrain California Highway Patrol officers from arresting the 'Breasts Not Bombs' babes if they take their shirts off during a protest on Monday. Sherry Glaser, a member of BNB and its spokeswoman, said the group would have to discuss what they'll do now that they know their arrests are likely.

New Tax Proposed by Democrat
(Jefferson City, Missouri) Missouri State Representative Jeff Roorda (D) was so humiliated by the St. Louis Cardinals' defeat in the Major League Baseball Playoffs that he has
decided to take action. Blaming the Cardinals' losses on the umpires, Roorda wants to punish them where it hurts, in their wallets.
"I think if they're not going to pay attention, they ought to at least pay taxes," Roorda said Wednesday."
As a result, Roorda promised to introduce legislation in December to tax umpires and referees.
So, fans shouting the rhetorical 'Kill the ump!' will be replaced with the real-life 'Tax the ump!' And, I'm sure the politicians won't allow deductions for favorable calls.
Or, will they?

I'm not surprised... this has been going on with athletes for a while. After the Bulls beat the Lakers in the NBA finals back in 1991(?), some government out here passed a law that says that athletes on road trips have to pay tax on the money they made for games in those cities. Apparently it's rather common now.

Ah a Democrat and his taxes. A clear (if accidental) insight on how Democrats view the concept of taxation. Not only as a revenue source to fund government requirements - but as a tool to achieve a desired social goal and a weapon to punish and harrass their perceived "enemies".
Anyone remember the attempt to tax ammunition by 1000 percent. Can't erase the 2nd ammendment then tax it out of existance. I have many more examples.
This is why not only is tax reform so important - but reason to fight over the original conceptual intent of taxation in the first place.

Steve: I just returned to Mississippi from St Louis. I really enjoyed your city. Charlie Gitto and his lovely wife Karen are the nicest people I have met in a long time. Charlie Gitto's pasta is downtown across from the St Louis Bread Company. Try it sometime. The pictures of sports figures covering the walls are worth the trip. The food is great to. Warning, totally packed on game day. Doesn't matter. Baseball, football or hockey. Only sports bar I could find was Helen Fitzgerald's near Comp USA. But they were to cheap to have Pay for view. I know there are others, just didn't have time to find them.

Hell Freezes Over: 50 Cent Defends Bush
From
ContactMusic.com via
The Drudge Report:
The IN DA CLUB star believes human intervention could not have prevented the effects of the hurricane, which killed over a thousand people in the US gulf states in August (05), and sees no point in reprimanding the President for something which was beyond his control.
He says, "The New Orleans disaster was meant to happen. It was an act of God.
"I think people responded to it the best way they can.
"What KANYE WEST was saying, I don't know where that came from."
A rap star speaking up for a Republican President? Is this a sign of the Apocalypse?
I still say Canadian Lorne Greene (Bonanza's Ben Cartwright) started rap with his release of "Ringo" (the number 21 hit of 1964). And Canada should be held to account for this.

What happened in N.O. was an act of nature - not an act of God, since that would imply that people somehow deserve events like Hurricane Katrina.

If it was an act of God, does that imply that God lacks the ability to specifically target only the evildoers? Or maybe he doesn't care about making innocents suffer? Or maybe he gets off on random mass murder, mayhem, and suffering?
Or maybe, just maybe, it was just a common weather phenomenon, totally unrelated to any human actions such as pole-dancing or SUV's? Naaahhhh...

I'm pretty sure that is what was meant. Some insurance contracts will even mention "act of God" for any natural phenomina that is not specifically defined in the contract. Many people, including myself will say "act of God" as a casual term not actually meaning we believe God was responsible for something.
As to 50cent himself. I'm not so sure he's actually a supporter of GW but instead just speaking some common sense. That alone is a shock.

Battle of the Sexes Status Report
A patriarchal court system probably won't allow this type of lawsuit to get too far.
A Brazilian woman is suing her partner for not giving her orgasms.
According to Terra Noticias Populares reports, the unnamed 31-year-old filled (sic) a complaint at Chacar Urbana Police station in Jundiai, in the state of Sao Paulo.
She complained that her 38-year-old partner reached an orgasm and then simply stopped the sexual intercourse.
Police chief Jose Roberto Ferraz is investigating the case.
A police spokesperson said: "We will look into it, we will treat it as an ordinary complaint and let the judge decide." (Source)
It's interesting that she's not suing her husband, rather, her partner. Just imagine the hilarity if society were to reward women who filed denied-orgasm lawsuits against partners
and husbands. Nevertheless, it's a she-said he-said situation since there's no way to prove a woman didn't have an orgasm. Just like there's no way to prove a woman did.
Uh ... Right?
On the other side of the world in a somewhat related report from Xinhua, a nation-wide poll of Chinese women this past weekend found that "nearly one-in-eight women, 12.4 per cent, said they rarely or never experienced sexual pleasure." Furthermore, the poll also found that about "25 per cent of wives are disappointed with service between the sheets."
Jeez! Twenty-five percent of the married women in a country of 1.2 billion people has got to be at least tens of millions of desperate housewives. To put the number in perspective, it appears that there may be more frustrated women in China than the entire population of France.
In all candor, I'm flummoxed by reports of unsatisfied women. Even though my personal sample size is statistically insignificant, I've heard not a single complaint.

Does she have a contract with her partner saying he must reciprocate all orgasms? I can't see how she can sue him without that.
How long have your personal samples hung around? why bother to complain when there are plenty more fish.....
Honestly though, I think this is man thing - they do not understand how you can have sex without having an orgasm & so spend many hours trying to prove to themselves that either we do all the time, or that we don't & it's someones fault.
sometimes sex can just be good, without being great. Sometimes there are more important things in a relationship. Sometimes we just can't be bothered.

This is why all men should be gay. Only another man can truly appreciate the male sexuality.

Mike, I think they're just taking the 5th on this one... the first thing that popped into my mind was her being on the witness stand and the defendant's lawyer asking her if she ever lied about it. Cross-ex over in two seconds.
As for the studies - is anyone here surprised that a majority of Chinese women aren't satisfied? Why stop at sex? Let's ask them about the control they have over reproduction and family, how they're doing in the economy, perhaps throw in some questions about their educational opportunities... Aside from being alive and in relative health, what is there to be happy about?

Blog Sabbath Caption Contest: It's Howie's Fault Edition
Caption this photo of me (Vinnie), Howie, See-Dubya, and Mike Pechar at the last Jawa Report Contributor's meeting.

Fatwas will be issued sometime before Monday Night Football.
(I can't remember who's standing on the left, just barely in the picture, could be Demosophist, maybe Bluto. Then again, I don't remember much about that meeting...who would?)
We have fatwas
Graeme for "Rusty Shackelford had always wanted to be like Hugh Hefner, but high operating costs prevented him from realising his dream. That is, until he found four contributors who weren't inclined to read their contracts properly."
Filthy Allah for "Dear Sweet Christ. This is better than Scott Baio hopped up on Goofballs and half naked! I have not seen so many sexy seniors in ages! Are those scars from Oatmeal burns?"
Jesusland Joe for "It's burqa time, baby!"
Honorable Mention:
Rodney Dill for "Even though he's been out of office for a while, Internship wannabe's line up daily at 15 Old House Lane in Chappaqua, NY."
Sorta Dishonorable Mention, But Would Have Been A Winner If He Had Read The Rules, Which I Email Out Every Saturday Without Fail, I Swear:
Matt, for "OK, can't use image tags, but here's my entry" (dude, you can't answer a question with a question, and you can't caption a picture with a picture even if it is hilarious).
Only mentioning it because he frightens me Mention:
Mr. Venom, for "While still searching for the elusive weapons of mass destruction, U.N. weapons inspectors announce the discovery of Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass disgust."
Dishonorable Mention:
I couldn't decide between the two, but they know who they are.

Wild Pussies Squeeze Statehouse Rats
(Columbus, Ohio) In 1861, the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus was
officially completed and President Abraham Lincoln spoke before a joint session of the Ohio Legislature in the House Chamber. Since that time, the venerable and historic building has been the enduring center of law for the people of the State of Ohio.
Unfortunately, during the same time period, the Ohio Statehouse also became home to an enduring infestation of rats. For well over a century, Ohio's elected lawmakers have lived in uncompromised harmony with buck-toothed, omnivorous, and disease-carrying rats.
That is, until about a year ago, when a dozen or so stray pussycats started making themselves at home on the Statehouse grounds. Despite their cozy coexistence with the legislators, the rats could not get along with feral felines. So, the rats moved. According to spokeswoman Pat Groseck, of the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Commission,
"The cats have done a yeoman's job. There have been no rat-sighting reports since the cats have been there."
Consequently, the Statehouse strays are now being fed, sheltered, and given health care by state employees and volunteers. The rats are gone and everything is hunky-dory.
Or, is it? There are no reports of how the influx of feral cats has affected the songbird population. Typically, a vigorous feral cat population will eradicate all songbirds in the area. Gone are the sweet chirps and calls of cardinals, robins, and chickadees. Call it an unintended consequence.
In closing, I'm skeptical of the assertion that all of the rats have left the Statehouse. If true, how come my taxes keep going up?

So let me see, Cats rid building, politicians from rat infestation, now the problem is over, they now want to get rid of the cats, that got rid of the rats, that got rid of the birds (and the need to pay people $10/hr to scrub bird crap off state building / sidewalks / statues) it's almost like two for one!
Moral of the story, don't ever stop being useful to a politician, they'll f*ck you over, for the Greenpeace vote?

Hey!
I have an idea. Have a hunting season on the cats!
My Grandma fed the feral cats on her farm, and the farm became overrun with feral cats. You would go into the barns and you could hardly help stumbling over a cat dead with some unknown feline disease. When my Grandma broker a leg we "took care" of the cat problem. I tried to rescue one but all it would do is to hiss & have nothing to do with me.
BTW, I do like cats. My last cat was named--Yoda (unfortunately a little more than a year ago he went out on eternal prowl).

Yes. that is why you should leave the care of a feral cat population to the animal protection leagues, a lot of feral cat populations are taken care of by animal care groups, that not only feed them but also but neuter/spay the population to ensure it does not get un-managable, so over time it will eventually die out.

In normal circumstances I agree with you.
My father trapped a cat took it in to the Humane society which promptly euthanized the cat and extended their palm. So we took matters into our own hands. There were hundreds of the cats I am NOT exagerating.
Most farms I have been to have a a smallish population of cats around. I have no problem with them and am willing to leave them be. The moral of the story is not to feed them.

Who Doesn't Like 'Em?
Stupid criminals, that is....
OMAHA, Neb. -- An Omaha police lieutenant and an officer said they were working at the front desk of police headquarters Monday night when they noticed people sitting a car parked in a handicap parking space.
When the pair walked up to the car, they smelled what they believed to be methamphetamine.
A search proved them right.
The suspect was taken to Creighton University Medical Center, where he agreed to have two small plastic bags of meth removed from his stomach, according to a police report.
Hey, at least they were parked in the right spot....

I can tell you this Mr. Vinnie, you come down to Our Lady of the Meadowlands and spout this type of rubbish and IÂ’ll open up a can of CORNED BEEF WOOP ASS on your heretic behind.
I don’t watch many of today’s movies, but I’ll tell you when I saw Monte Python go into that musical number “Every Sperm Is Sacred” I wanted to call my mum in county cork and just say thanks. You be sure to go to 3pm reconciliation this Saturday and take your penitence like a man.
Imagine a good Italian Catholic boy passing out birth control to get his filthy hands on a channel clicker. Why, IÂ’m inclined to search you out and teach you the catechism of the Church the hard way. I have half a mind to call that Greyrooster fella and have him show you his farm implements.
The road to heaven is narrow and rarely does a man enter it with a channel clicker.
You reflect on that you Protestant sounding poster of filth.
I expect better from ya tomorrow.

Deb,
You can move to Britain. The latest research released by someone in Britain and posted last week here at the Jawa reported that men in Britain think about sex more often than women, but only perform the act half as much. I'll let you do the arithmetic, but something just ain't right. Anyhow, away to the old country you may go if you get any tireder(is that a word?).

A Quick Sandcrawler PSA
I has just been revealed to me that now is the time for the Jawa Report to issue its unofficially official opinion concerning the vacant Supreme Court seat.
The officially unofficial opinion is thus:
We, the squeaky voiced short guys in the brown robes and cheap flashlights for eyes, do hereby vehemently oppose the nomination of John Roberts to replace Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court.
We now return you to your current psychosis, already in progress.
