(Bangui, Central African Republic) It seems that even in the middle of the Dark Continent, broadcasters are subjected to censorship.

From ABC News:

Central African Republic has ordered radio and television stations to stop broadcasting songs which encourage men to dump their wives, saying such music is a hindrance to the country's development.

Broadcasters had been told not to play any music which might inspire Central African men to look for new partners if the ones they were married to no longer satisfied their needs, interim Communications Minister Fidele Ngoundgika said.

1 This is funny to me But, as much as I hate unneccessary censorship, I do appreciate the fact that they take lyrics seriously. I don't think people take seriously how much lyrics impact our thought patterns.

2 Of cause people take the lyrics seriously - they just refuse to admit it. Right now, as I type, here in NY - there are all kinds of "rememberances" going on for John Lennon - and how much his "lyrics" affected their lives. Kinda wish someone would show up at one of these vigils with a boombox playing 50 cent.
