1 Asian Athlete? Who says? Tiger is AMERICAN - part black, part asian. His father, like many others during the Vietnam war, met and married a Japanese Woman and out of the two came Tiger - actually Eldridge Woods. His father is an American. His mother is now an American. He is an American - not an Asian. He also lives in Orlands Florida where he has his own house, etc. Asian? Who the hell would call Tiger Asian?? FT!

4 Time for a few facts, folks: Tiger's first name is Eldrick ( http://www.tigerwoods.com/aboutme/bio.sps?sid=825&lid=1&aid=0 ) His mother, Kultida (Tida for short) is Thai, and pure Thai as far as anyone knows. That alone makes Tiger 50% Asian for demographic purposes. His father, Earl, is like many Americans, descended from a mix of nationalities, including Irish, Scot, Native American, African American and Jamaican. Tiger and his new bride Elin were introduced by Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik, for whom Elin was an au pair (live-in babysitter). The Parneviks have often stated dismay at the attention given Tiger and Elin's relationship. Would anyone be gabbing if Tiger were David Duval or Justin Leonard or Sergio Garcia? As to the support of Tiger by the African American community, always remember that, purely because of his skin color, Tiger would not be allowed to play some courses where his Thai cousins would be welcome because they didn't look "black." Is his African heritage important to him? Sure. Aren't your ancestors important to you?

7 She's a model who's mother was gunned down last year in Sweden. Tiger considers himself African American, I guess. I have a six foot framed photo right in front of me along with his signature. My friend came back from Vietnam with a Thai wife and Tiger couldn't play some places not because his mother was Thai but because his father was black and he's black. Which is also why he works so much with black kids in the United States. His foundations cover Japanese and English - Japan and the United States. I don't know about the Thai bit since he has his own bio and I happen to get newsletters from him on a regular basis and watch him weekly, but I imagine his father met his mother in Japan at the base and brought her home when he came home. If you see his Dad, he is a big, heavyset Black guy. Sometimes when you say it's a joke, it's not a joke because the last thing that Tiger is.....is Asian. ~C

17 Honestly, I've read some of that book and it should be called how to predate on doltish white women. Or how to 5 F white women, of course that would make most people repulsed but never judge this book on its cover, read it to get really sick. Image a book written on "how to 5 F any asian female." You'd see everyone stand up and howl about it being a sick, sexist and racist manifesto.

18 Fortunately young Mr. Woods was raised in an atmosphereunlike that of the hypersensitive people commenting here, the colorblind atmosphere of those who bet their lives on their comrades. All I know is the rough jokes among the men I served with in a rifle platoon would make most of the commenters here retreat with the vapors. I know something else, though, the two good looking and superbly healthy couple under discussion will make some damned good lookin' kids.
