Iraqi 'Militias' Capture 270 Al Qaeda

What was it that Zawahiri was saying today? That he was hiding among the 'Muslim masses'? That the U.S. is all but defeated? Right....

In The Bullpen reprints this from an MSM source:

Some 270 Arab and foreign fighters have been detained in Iraq's restive al-Anbar province in a 'defensive campaign' launched by the local population towards the al-Qaeda network, tribal leaders say. A source close to tribal chiefs told Adnkronos International (AKI) that "the Iraqi security forces, with the help of the local population, have managed to arrest terrorists and Iraqis who provided them refuge."
Most of them were Syrian, Saudi and Jordanian nationals. They have been transferred to Baghdad to be interrogated to discover how they reached the region and who is financing their terrorist activites" the source told AKI.
"The group of (Jordanian militant and al-Qaeda pointman) Abu Musab al-Zarqawi did not expect a similar campaign which has dealt them a serious blow," he continued, adding that "it won't be the last given that the population is determined to expel those who kill civilians in the name of resistance".
Regarding the nature of the tribal militias, the source explained that "all the operations are carried out under the auspices of the defence minister Saadun al-Dulaimi and coordinated with volunteers in the area."

New Video: What is that gross thing on Zawahiri's head?

A new video tape from al Qaeda's number two man, Ayman al-Zawahiri, has most Americans wondering exactly what that gross little mark on his head is?

In the new video aired by the Arab world's number one pro-terrorist satellite television station, Zawahiri taunts the President for missing him in an air strike in Pakistan saying, "Bush, do you know where I am? I am among the Muslim masses."

The Muslims masses, for their part, deny knowing where Zawahiri is. Because, as we are reminded nearly every day by the MSM, it is only a small minority of extremists in the Islamic world that support terrorism. Therefore, by definition, the Muslim masses can't know where Zawahiri is hiding, can they?

Word on the street from the Muslim masses regarding Zawahiri's funny head mark vary. Some claim it is a birth mark, however such marks are common among those wishing to seem incredibly pious in the Muslim world. Such marks come about when the pious one genuflects often during prayer, touching the forehead to the ground five times daily.

tattoo.target.jpg A source particularly close to Ayman al-Zawahiri, though, tells us that the mark is, "really a bullseye...kind of the equivalent of the tattoo in the small of a chick's back...if you, er, get my drift."

No, we at the Jawa Report do not get your drift. What is it, exactly, that you are implying?

Zawahiri continued from his hiding place somewhere in the caves along the borders of Pakistan-Afghanistan, "Butcher of Washington, you are not only defeated and a liar, but also a failure. You are a curse on your own nation."

One wonders if that forehead thingy isn't some kind of mark of the beast symbol? Like, maybe Zawahiri is really Gorbachev? You've never seen the two in the same room have you?

The man with the mystery forehead mark also says in the video, "My second message is to the American people, who are drowning in illusions." No word yet on the more realistic illusion of creating a global Caliphate from a cave in Waziristan.

"I tell you that Bush and his gang are shedding your blood and wasting your money in frustrated adventures," says Zawahiri.

So, what is that annoying mark any way?

Cyber Attacks Against Danish Websites, Counterattacks Against Arab Sites

An interet war is brewing between a small minority of hackers who happen to be an even smaller subset of misunderstanders of Islam and Danish geeks. Viking Observer at AIR passes this translation on from the Danish media:

A large number of Danish papersÃ‚Â´ web versions have crashed. Suspicions immediately center on the hacker attacks being because of the Mohammed-drawings in Jyllands-Posten. ..
All the web media hit are hosted on the same servers at the internet company Metropol Online, owned by Berlingske (Danish publishing house). ..
Among the media hit is the homepage of Jyllands-Postens, www.jp.dk, which creates suspicions, that hackers are trying to hit the paper as part of the row over the papersÃ‚Â´ Mohammed-drawings.

And Danish geeks respond in kind to the cyberterrorism coming from the Muslim world. Again, from Viking Observer:

A Danish chain-mail that is circulating by email urges people to take part in a web-based attack on arab media. This happens in reaction to the hacker-attack on Danish papersÃ‚Â´ websites over the weekend....
he email starts out with the headline "Denmark under attack by moslem hackers" and contains an attached program, that starts a so-called denial-of-service attack on five arab media, among them Al-Jazeera, Arab News og Gulf News.
In the letter the recipient is urged to let the program run on his computer to bombard the arab media with data and thus block their homepages.

Wait. They're attacking al Jazeera? Good on you. As I've argued countless times in the past, al Jazeera is part of the enemy propaganda machine and is therefore a legitimate target in the war-on-terror. It is high time the Western world employed these cyberterrorists to our own advantage. The model of the privateer comes to mind.

Then came a muslim wali name Sunan Kudus, who establish a school and preach about Islam to the town inhabitant. Gradually the number of muslim increase. One interesting thing was, in order to respect the Hindu beliefs, Sunan Kudus prohibited his disciples and followers from eating cow meat. Even though there is nothing in Islam that prohibit so. Up until today 600 years later, with Kudus as a muslim-majority town, many of the people still restraint from eating cow. Another story, there is a church called Gereja Jawi Wetan (East Java Church). Since its establishment in 19th century, it has prohibited its congregation from eating pork, to respect their muslim neighbour. What do you think ?

18 jesusland joe, i think to respect someone's faith or values can be done be it in Europe or anywhere. when i spoke to my Dutch guest, I can talk openly and addressing him with his name directly without worry of offending him. i accept the openness as part of the values hold by my Dutch guest. in the other hand I won't use the same openness to my fellow countrymen, because many of them will find it offesinve. another case, asking "where are you going", or "where have you been" to a complete stranger are considered to be a part of polite conversation by my fellow countrymen. while the same questions to my Dutch guess, get a reply "that's none of your business".

25 These cartoons have raised, according to me, the question of the freedom of speech's boundaries. Are we stepping on other's freedom by publishing these cartoons? (and don't tell me it's just a cartoon, critics may have more impact than acts) Example: If you share a flat with a jewish friend for instance and you hang posters in your room of Hitler or Mussolini(cuz your a fan, it's your right to be fan of whoever you want). There's no law or legal act that prohibits you from having these posters in your room because it's the freedom of thoughts and beliefs. Of course, in a hypothetic utopia of freedom of speech these cartoons should be allowed. But learning to live together is more than just saying "i can say whatever i want cuz it's freedom of speech", it's also to be careful to what you say and what we do according to OTHER'S beliefs and thoughts. I would prefer the phrase "HOW TO LIVE TOGETHER" rather than "FREEDOM OF SPEECH". "Freedom of speech", as much as "democracy", have been overused by media and have been uprooted from their social-economical-historical initial context, to end up as an political oriented instrument.

26 Why don't people start waking up to the real world instead of believing in instituions some created over 1500 years ago. Religion in any form was in those times a system of law which worked well when there was no form of organised policing, as time went on eventually religion become nothing more than a reason to go to war and break those very rules that they were created to police. People who still believe in religion, the after life etc should face up to the truth, they are believing in no more than a story, and as everyone knows stories change with time until they fade away completely. The various religious texts have all been manipulated with time to suit those in power at the time. During the times that they were written very few could even read or write therefore relying on the preaching and word's of others, they may as well be hear-say rather than evidence of actual history. On a side note- If the goal as preached by many of the religious fanatics is for a united Muslim nation, Palestine nation, or any other such claim why are all these groups still in fighting amongst them selves. If you cant even unify as groups do you really think you can unify the world all under one religion. At least the west doesnt preach happiness, freedom and love all for changing faith, the west has already experienced the difficulties of unification and has still never managed to get it right. Along the way one critical lesson has been learnt that violence, war and terrorism will not acheive anything even if you declare it in a holy way as was done with the Crusades and now with Jihad.

Something Rotten in Denmark

Two very related stories. First, the Danish Left has been funneling money to terrorists for years. I guess paying tthe jizya hasn't helped the Danish Left one bit.

Second, why are the tiny minority of extremists calling for a boycott of Denmark? Could it be that Denmark currently chairs the U.N. Security Council and the Islamic Republic of Iran is about to receive that bodies censure?

2 Rusty, I imagine that the Left in the US has also been sending money to terrorists either through so-called Muslim charities or indirectly through other channels. The media in the US will not investigate these kinds of actions, but will moan and whine about terrorist's wives being questioned about the activities of their husbands. And, of course, the US government has been funding terrorists through its aid to the Arabs living in the Gaza and West Bank. 14 JJ My ancestors too were European - who voted with their feet - for good reason lest we forget. Grandfather had a funny story from Ellis Island - he was from Tyrol - a Tyrolian. Some confusion over his "papers" - asked if he was Austrian or Italian - he said neither - fuck them both - I come here to be an American. Danes have a long history and a are tough people - but a lots changed in 50 years. I'm not prepared to stand behind anyone if I remain unsure if they will stand for themselves.

19 Initial polls are encouraging - but initial - the feeling of the moment. Lets see how it stands the test of time and a lil' pressure. My gut tell me they will fold - then expect a group hug with their immigrant muslims. Expect words like dialog, education, cultural understanding etc to be bandied about in about a week or so. They will seek something they can agree upon - like the evil in the world is the USA - something like that - something safe. Spend a good number of years in Europe - as both a soldier - and later as a carefree drifter. This NYC boy ain't some naive fool - I can see it in those Western European eyes - they don't know who they are anymore - they dislike their past and fear the future - their only comfort is in their comfort and maintaining some strange form of status quo - of which even they are uncertain.

5 I don't expect that the UN, as moronic as they are, agreeing to this. Sanctions are too serious to be used just because someone's feelings were hurt. Instead I expect that behind the scenes, the UN will try to pressure Denmark into caving and bending over to end all the complaining. Hopefully Denmark will stand firm. For a religion that's supposed to be so great and all-powerful, Islam always seems to need some new regulation to hide behind. Almost as if confidence in its strength isn't as high as we're all expected to believe.

Oil Workers Freed

(Yenagoa, Nigeria) Earlier today, Briton Nigel Watson-Clark, American Patrick Landry, Bulgarian Milko Nichev and Honduran Harry Ebanks were released by their kidnappers. They were flown to the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

The men were taken hostage earlier this month (See here, here, and here) when about 40 armed men attacked an oil industry service vessel named Liberty Service. A previously-unknown group called the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) claimed responsibility for the attack and the kidnappings.

A source said that 100 million Nigerian Naira ($771,000) was paid as ransom for the hostages release.

ACLU Having Another Cow

It seems that in one or two cases, the wives of terrorist insurgents were taken in for questioning as possible accomplices and/or material witnesses. The ACLU is trying to conflate this into some sort of organized campaign to kidnap innocent Iraqi women, and has managed to plant a story in that other bastion of objectivity and patriotism, the LA Times:

WASHINGTON Â— U.S. forces in at least two cases have detained wives of suspected insurgents in Iraq in an attempt to pressure the men into surrendering, documents obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union confirm.
"This is not an acceptable tactic," ACLU lawyer Amrit Singh said Friday.
In one instance, members of a military task force seized a mother of three young children "in order to leverage" her husband's surrender, according to an account by a civilian Defense Intelligence Agency officer.

"I certainly had no idea what Mahmoud was doing with those batteries, wires, digital watches, and 155mm artillery shells. He's always loved to putter around in his workshop. And he said that the AK-47s and SAMs were for duck hunting."

The ACLU's attempt to portray these women as innocent lambs being roughed up by the Coalition would be laughable, if the consequences of failure weren't so grave.

The only thing that the military has done wrong is to release these terrorists and terrorist enablers prematurely.

The only people that can sympathize with this action, is those who feel sorry for the terrorist, who has to make the choice of turning himself in or letting his family sit in jail. A Christian country has no obligation to stop its press from printing images which others may find offensive. I can see why the images are offensives to Muslims. 41 Perhaps its just me....but..If these cartoons haven't been published in Muslim countries....how come millions of uslims in those countries are 'enraged' over the content of the cartoons and calling for the heads of 'none believers'and burning down embassies because of some images they haven't actually seen for themselves. If my local reverend told me there had been a cartoon showing Jesus in a comprimising position with a goat and encouraged me to take to the streets you better believe I would want to check the facts and see the cartoon first..!! These would all be examined by censors of all creeds and religions..-if any of the censors state they are offended by any submitted item that item shouldn't be published. Since Muslims are taught to believe in Jesus; Muslims should not regard Christians as not-saved. In theory, they should balance each other out. The rest are fair game. Get back to the two commandments (you know what they are). Muslims (because you're the sensitive ones, you're second in line for the spanking): No one doubts your faith (it is strong). But please, to live in this multi-cultural world, you really should continue with your education. Remember, if you allow violence and hatred into your world, then thats all you have when its finally done. And for YOUR GOD's SAKE; stop throwing bombs. All the rest of you; I pray you choose your after death fate soon before you lose life and become nothing. And a moral scolding to all of us: We've come a long way; haven't we yet learned that love of all others is better than hate of each other? Muslims: Respect is earned, not demanded. Allah does not want slaves for followers. Christians: Remember to love and forbear, for all these things must come to pass. All others: try not to enjoy the show too much.

Obama and Biden See Alito Filibuster As Lost Cause

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., predicted on Sunday that an effort to try to block a final vote on Alito would fail on Monday. That would clear the way for Senate approval Tuesday of the federal appeals court judge picked to succeed the retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
"We need to recognize, because Judge Alito will be confirmed, that, if we're going to oppose a nominee that we've got to persuade the American people that, in fact, their values are at stake," Obama said.
"There is an over-reliance on the part of Democrats for procedural maneuvers," he told ABC's "This Week."
"I think a filibuster makes sense when you have a prospect of actually succeeding," Biden said on CNN's "Late Edition." "I will vote one time to say to continue the debate. but the truth of the matter" is that Alito will be confirmed, he said.

These remarks beg the question: if you know you can't filibuster before you vote, why not just go to a straight up and down vote, and quit jerking everyone around?

Answer: the Democrats have veered so far to the Left that they have to pander to the tantrums of these nutcases.

7 Our own Senator Bill Nelson (D) is voting no. Martinez (R) is voting yes. But Martinez hasn't been all we hoped he would be in other respects. Nelson comes up for reelection in November and since I've gotten nothing but form letters in response to my letters to him which don't answer the pointed questions I've asked even remotely, I have serious reservations about him.

My guess - it will fail (glaringly) and nominee with be confirmed apx 72-28. Most politicians are whores to some degree - currently the Dems are the trampiest of the bunch - and cheap too. After Plowing

I've been shirking a bit in the culture wars, mostly because I'm in the midst of a career shift and engaged in an almost constant round of job interviews. Ugh! It's tough, but as James Buchanan used to say, just about anything is "better than plowing," albeit not necessarily by much. Traipsing in from the field with my wheat-farmer Dad after a day of weeding, seeding or plowing--so caked in dust and fine dirt that it would have been a horrifying hallowe'en disguise--made the feeling of showering and heading to dinner clean as a newborn all the more glorious. So, the main thing I appreciated about plowing was the transition to afterplowing. And that's sort of the way I feel about looking for a new job. It's the aftershower that I look forward to, and that lets me appreciate the value of the toil.

I'll be back as soon as I get cleaned up...

Google is being bashed for cooperating with Chinese communist authorities to restrict what Chinese citizens are allowed to search for on the web. I'm certainly no fan of the liberal establishment that runs Google, (and awards "newsite" status to obvious Islamist propaganda sites) but, fair is fair.
