Let Them Eat Yellowcake

Interesting post at the A.M. blog on the future relationship between Islam and the West. Personally the notion that a culture must be utterly destroyed before they can be drastically reformed seems like an unpleasant truth and none of the alternatives seem that good. Sometimes, though, we must pick the least worst option. What that option is remains to be seen.

1 Rusty, I like the Kurdish option, and hate the rest. As I look at Michael Totten's photos of Kurdistan, I keep thinking that the entire ME could be like that if it were not for radical Islam. What a crime.

2 I try to stay positive and optimistic - but it is hard at times. I look for signs - good and bad. Bad sign not mentioned anywhere - emmigratration from ME region (legal & illegal) by non-islamic minorities. It is surging! From Pakistan to Lebanon. given Rad Islam's desire for confrontation at the weakest points - I'm keeping my eye on events in Lebanon.

3 hondo, I would not want to be a Maronite Christian in Beirut right now. I believe most will leave Lebanon within 5 years.

4 Here chat of up-surge of illegal arab immigrants attempting entry from Mexican border. Friend in INS says those caught are Christians from Iraq & lebanon - also some Paki's & Iranians (Christians and some smaller religious groups). Not much talk about it - they are not security threats - but don't bode well for positive development in ME.
