Obama and Biden See Alito Filibuster As Lost Cause

From the Associated Press:

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., predicted on Sunday that an effort to try to block a final vote on Alito would fail on Monday. That would clear the way for Senate approval Tuesday of the federal appeals court judge picked to succeed the retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

"We need to recognize, because Judge Alito will be confirmed, that, if we're going to oppose a nominee that we've got to persuade the American people that, in fact, their values are at stake," Obama said.

"There is an over-reliance on the part of Democrats for procedural maneuvers," he told ABC's "This Week."

"I think a filibuster makes sense when you have a prospect of actually succeeding," Biden said on CNN's "Late Edition." "I will vote one time to say to continue the debate. but the truth of the matter" is that Alito will be confirmed, he said.

These remarks beg the question: if you know you can't filibuster before you vote, why not just go to a straight up and down vote, and quit jerking everyone around?

Answer: the Democrats have veered so far to the Left that they have to pander to the tantrums of these nutcases.

1 final vote 72-28 ... lets start a pool ... Note: this type of vote will not indicate strength of Bush - but instead indicate weakness of Dem left.

4 The dhimmitards have finally reached the point where they're like a hostage-taker who has shot all his hostages, and is now holding the gun to his own head, threatening to pull the trigger. Considering who is calling the shots for them these days, I'd say they make asses of themselves in grand fashion.

8 You may be right hondo, she's not as smart as most people give her credit for.

9 Of course she's smart - she just doesn't have much to work with politically - which is why she's all over the map on a dime - searching for that "magical middle".

10 If she were really smart, she'd go with what works, rather than trying to foist her crooked Marxist schemes upon us. She is scum and should be... well, you know the rest.
