Zeus: Humvees with Laser Cannons

Even better than genetically engineered Sea Bass with lasers attached to their heads!

This thing isn’t much of any use. although, it is capable of destroying explosives /munition lying about but it can’t destroy buried explosives /munition. I would rather see some really good IED detection devices or any kind of device that can “smell” nearby explosives.

I was watching something on the Communist News Network(CNN) about how the Defense Department is doing research into training parasitic wasps into finding things such as explosives, drugs and dead bodies. The clincher? It works!

Genetically engineered WASPs? That's not new. Al Gore has been floating around for decades.

The problem with those wasps are that they don’t act as “Killerbees” You can’t train them to sit in a corner and attack as soon as they smell something. They put them in boxes next to a entrance, when they smell something they start bussing around. B.t.w did you know that the Israelis are using pigs to detect mines.

I read the same on Joe Huffman's blog in December, always good to see CNN with the bleeding edge reviews of security technology. http://blog.joehuffman.org/2005/12/29/Bombsniffing+Wasps.aspx

I saw a story about this awhile back, too. But these are the first pics I've seen and a picture is worth a something or something.

Dan: There already is technology deployed in order to counter IED's, the problem of course -- just like any detector / scanner is that it is tailored around known parameters. The builders keep changing their trigger mechanisms. Imagine how vast the amount of signal types they could use is! Radio control and proximity triggers are old news, for most jihadi's.

one small nuke exploded over waziristan would accomlpish a lot more than a thousand predator drones or ten thousand laser-mounted humvees. neutralizing iran's nukes and navy and air force and missile sysyems and gasoline refineries would do a lot more than nuking waziristan. technology is NOT what's needed. what's needed is the courage and resolve to do what must be done - BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. letting russia negotiate with iran is ludicrous to the point of insanity. trusting putin with our security is tantamount to committing national suicide. i think bush has become a liberal wimp; he';s a disaster on immigration; the medicare pharma entitlements; and he's wimping out on syria and iran and north korea. we need a to elect a true conservative hawk. i thought bush was it, but he's become a phony and a wimp. i mean, sayig we have a gasoline addiction is pure unadultuerated liberal/left hogwash. i hope we last until 2008 - and elect a true hawk then, but bush's wimpiness makes me doubtful we will last that long. it's as if he really believes in that RIP BS. sheesh.

If only they could breed sea bass that could fly...

The original purpose of Zeus was to remove unexploded ordanace from things like clusterbombs that would be laying out in the open. Using a laser you get a much smaller detonation than if you exploded the ordance in the normal way with a shock.
