Yes dhimmis, they KILL YOU for for blasphemy

Every day I get e-mail from readers who say pretty much the same thing, "Yeah, but aren't all religions just basically the same?"

The answer, of course, is NO. Ever hear of a fundamentalist Amish ordering the death of a wayward soul because they became one of those blesphemous Mennonites? Under Islamic law blasphemy is punishable by death.

Asia News:

Hamid Pourmand is a Protestant minister of the Assemblies of God Church. He converted from Islam several years ago. Since September he has been held in prison at an undisclosed location and under Iranian law he can be put to death for “apostasy against Islam”. He was arrested on September 9 in Karaj, a town 30 km west of the capital Tehran during a police raid against the annual General Council of the Assemblies of God Church.
BBC News:
A Pakistani man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for burning a copy of the Koran. A court in Lahore found Mehdi Hassan, 36, guilty under Pakistani laws covering offences against Islam, the prophet Mohammed or the Koran.
Let me just throw this one in for good measure--Aus. Bahai Faith:
The Australian Baha'i Community has spoken out against the destruction of sacred and historic sites in Iran. In a statement released today, the Baha'i Community describes a series of demolitions that point to a campaign of "cultural cleansing" by Iran's ruling authorities, who are determined to remove all traces of the Baha'i Faith, the country's largest religious minority.

1 Yes, religions are all the same. They attempt to subjugate the rational mind of man to the irrational nonsense of some "higher being". There is no higher being than man. This really is it folks, YOU are the most advanced species known to man (validated by all the senses given to man). Religion was a cute idea hundreds of years ago when people were stupid and couldn't read or write (slightly above neanderthal savages). It was a good way for certain (educated) people to gain control of people for their own ends. In the 21st century, where just about everyone has access to as much reading material as they could possibly read in a lifetime, it kind of loses its effectiveness. Unfortunately, some backward nations still believe in "God". In the war of terrorism, we should always recognise that the bullets we shoot, and the bombs we drop were not "God's weapons" but man's. (If God existed and had a viewpoint on this, he would surely throw up the odd sandstorm, flood, disease, famine... whatever...) It amuses me that the terrorists choose to propogate their message via internet broadcats these days. Aye, The Internet... classic Allah creation, that. In effect, they are finding themselves having to convey the message of their god by relying on one of the greatest methods of communication ever realised by MAN. If only certain people could step back for a moment and fully realise this fact... but they never will... to use a phrase which Rusty used recently (incorrectly IMHO).... Cognitive Dissonance.
