When Governors Stop Pointing Fingers and Start Being Real

According to SurveyUSA the Republican governors who haven't been pointing fingers and have been busy from day one in recovery relief (as opposed to political posturing) seem to be fairing a helluva lot better, as far as approval rating, than the Democratic governor of Louisiana.

Governor Party & State 15 Aug 05 19 Sep 05
Governor Kathleen Blanco D-LA 50% 41%
Governor Haley Barbour R-MS 43% 58%
Governor Bob Riley R-AL 46% 58%
Governor Rick Perry R-TX 39% 49%

As usual, actions speak louder than words.

1 And again the usual Dem tactics of hate and diviciveness come back to bite them in the ass.

2 Not mentioned in this comparison is that Rick Perry is an utter idiot. But, and it's a big "but", he did the right thing, and quickly, during the Katrina aftermath, and that's why his poll numbers are up so much. Democrats seem to be really good at manufacturing fake crises in what are actually really good times, and manipulating the public perception of the fake crisis into support for programs and priorities people would otherwise lean against. Republicans, though, seem to be the ones you want in charge when a real crisis hits: they respond to the reality, rather than trying to create a perception or narrative.

3 Well Jeff, I was gonna put in my $.02, but you pretty much nailed it, though I will add that they never fail to use an actual crisis for their own benefit.

4 Shows to go you about polls . . they must've asked people who have never looked at the facts of the situation . . Kathleen Blanco, regardless of her politics should be Jailed for her inept handling of any and all of the Katrina Debacle . . She got the ink from the Electronic Media because it was far easier to put a 100 cameras and news jockeys around a 10 square mile area than to cover the thousands of square miles in Mississippi and Alabama . . . Add the fact that she was always hostile to the Administration, it just made better news than to interview some Good Ole Boy in Miss. saying: "Wull, Ah gots ta rebuild 'er agin. Mah Dogs and th' Wafe is Ok an' thas all that counts!" The most media driven "Catastrophe" I've EVER seen in my short 64 years!
