VandalÂ’s Torch U.S. Flags At Slain Soldiers Home

VandalÂ’s torch U.S. Flags at slain soldiers home:

WCPO—Not even 24-hours after Private First Class Tim Hines's wife and family said goodbye at his funeral, American flags that had adorned their Fairfield yard were piled beneath a car and burned. [. . .]

Private First Class Timothy Hines Jr. was severely wounded by an IED that exploded near his HMMWV in Iraq; he died July 14th at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington D.C.

Timothy Hines gave his life defending liberty, and some sicko shows up at his home to burn U.S. Flags under a car...what kind of sick people do things like that?

1 What an utterly stupid thing for someone to do. You can dislike this war all you like, and believe me, I think it was a terrible waste of resources and lives, but taking it out on the troops and their families is just plain despicable. I'm sure everyone on both sides of the war argument will agree with that.

2 Prior to the war, I had many "American For Peace" yard signs stolen or destroyed and on one occassion, threatening grafitti was spray pianted on it. When the war began, I took the sign down. I thought it best not to agitate my neighbors. I was and remain against this war, but I am pro-troop. This act of vandalism is wrong and if the perpetrator knew in advance that it was the property of a wounded soldier, it is a disgusting cowardly act and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.

3 Find them, try them, then execute them.

4 They need to find the sons of whores and beat the livin shit ot of 'em. I volunteer to go one on on in a small room (not more than 5x5) with one of em. One of us will not walk out. This is not an exercise of a Constitutional right, this is terrorism.

5 Roddy Pipehitter, It's just a piece of cloth that is used by the elite to blindfold you!

6 Liberals like DSM show more respect for the muslim burka than they do for the flag of their own country, not to mention the family of the dead GI.

Posted by: Carlos at July 24, 2005 07:43 PM (8e/V4)

7 Hi Mr. Carlos, Burkas are so unfashionable. DSM cares for the people, not the symbols used by the elite to blindfold us into rampaging around the mideast for oily corporate profit. Every death is a tragedy, yet burned flags don't raise my pulse.

Posted by: Downing Street Memo at July 24, 2005 08:10 PM (ScqM8)

8 DSM, Liberals don't care about people, you care about causes. That's how you missed the part where the flag is something more than just a rag to this dead GI's wife and family. Back in my Lib days working in the non-profit sector with mostly Libs I figured this out. It's about "the cause", not about people. I met lots of "save the world" types that didn't even like people, let alone care about them. But boy, did they ever want to "save the world."

Posted by: Carlos at July 24, 2005 08:49 PM (8e/V4)

9 DSM, I agree that the flag is just a symbol and that there shouldn't be a Contitutional Amendment protecting it. But, you've got to buy your own flag if you want to burn it. It is criminal to go around destroying the property of others. And if the perpetrator knew that it was the property of a disabled Vet, they also crossed the line of decency.

10 You're right Greg, vandalism is a crime. I fail to get excited over flags getting burned when everyone wearing one on their business suits cheers on the Bushists in their torture spree. Let them burn their own in the streets of Washington, New York, LA, Chicago, Houston and especially CRAWFORD!

11 Worthless bunch of worthless peice of dog crap are they we should burn a peace pansie rainbow flag with the 70s chicken footprint logo on it under thier forgein car they own

Posted by: sandpiper at July 24, 2005 10:18 PM (UdEnh)

12 Sandpiper, as long as you own the flag first, then you can burn it.

Posted by: Downing Street Memo at July 24, 2005 10:27 PM (ScqM8)

13 Scum! I can't stand all this anti-America crap! How freakin disrespectful can someone be? This stuff makes my head explode! I don't even know what to write.

14 Jay, Take two aspirins and call me in the morning.

Posted by: Downing Street Memo at July 24, 2005 11:13 PM (ScqM8)

15 jay, it was the Libs taking two and calling their doc in the morning when the Koran desecration story broke. It was practically a war crime.

16 All this talk of fire reminds me of when I blew up those gophers under my back 40.

17 Downing Street Moron is now lying about owing a back 40. This piece of pig shit will lie about anything. Right Bush lies. You cowardly muslin loving dog.

18 Greyrooster stole his back 40 from the working man and now jumps up and down on burning bags of dogshit!

19 You start an imperialist war and kill innocent "terrorists" and this is what you get.

20 DSM, You don't get it and never will. Too bad you don't have the common sense to have pride in anything. Your posting shows us that you don't even have pride in yourself. You're mentally weak and nothing more than an open sore on life.

21 This only re-inforces my beliefs from reading some post on this site that libs are truley repulsive little trolls.Bitter, ugly and full of hate.

22 More evidence that Libs are immoral clueless f-ing idiots (besides DSM's posts above): "People who suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome will give themselves permission to say and do amazingly despicable things, in their delusional belief that they have a monopoly on the Truth. Case in point, the Lt. Gov. of Pennsylvania: Lt. gov. crashed MarineÂ’s funeral, kin say": Antiwar Lt. Gov. Crashes Marine's Funeral http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=16805_Antiwar_Lt._Gov._Crashes_Marines_Funeral#comments

23 "This only re-inforces my beliefs from reading some post on this site that libs are truley repulsive little trolls.Bitter, ugly and full of hate." I don't know any libs of that description, but I see plenty of hate spewed in here. What happened at that dead soldier's house is pretty sick, repulsive and insensitive. My question is, does anyone think the burners knew the soldier had died? Seems a bit extreme to me.

24 At last the asshole osamabeenthere said something that made sense. I guess anyone can get lucky. The flag is a symbol of the country it represents. Those that desecrate that symbol should not be in that country. Sweep out the trash. I'm sure Canada will take them. They have a history of harboring deserters and such. Enemies of our country burn our flag. What does that say about those that live here and don't hve a problem with it? Birds of a feather to me.

Posted by: greyrooster at July 26, 2005 10:05 PM (CBNGy)

25 Klanrooster, enemies of the country use the flag as a weapon against the people.

Posted by: Downing Street Memo at July 27, 2005 08:46 AM (ScqM8)

26 Crying over symbols is for the weak and enslaved. Destroying symbols on a personal level is where I draw the line...if you burn a flag in protest, it won't mess with me. I've seen it a million times, and it rolls off like a cheap insult. Now if I had a friend in a the military and someone was burning a flag on his lawn, there's be some ass kicking because then it's personal and malicious.

27 My daughter, a combat medic with 86th CSH in Baghdad, helped treat this soldier prior to his evac to the US and subsequent death. She and her fellow medical personnel busted their ass and gave their own blood trying to save this soldier ... so fellow countrymen (scumbags) could commit acts of vandalism against the family. God, I want to kill. Her e-mail reproduced below ... > Dad- > what horrible people. i just read in the Stars & Stripes > that someone vandalized the family home of a soldier the > day after his funeral. his name was PFC Hines. we treated > him here after an ied blast killed the soldiers in his > vehicle. his injuries were so numerous that we doubted he > would make it out of our EMT. we resusitated him two times > and he went to the OR for 11 hours. he still holds the > record here for blood transfusions. soldiers were donating > blood all night because we exhausted our labs supply. 211 > units of blood. he then went on to surprise us by making > it all the way back to the u.s. where he held on for over > a month. we got a call last week saying that he had passed > away. he was one of the ones that we were all interested > in. such a fighter. it sickens me to know that people > would do something like this. if people want to protest the > war...then protest the war. don't protest the soldiers or > thier poor families. he was patrolling the roads to make > them safer and he died. who could be so hateful? >
