, and he's skeptical.
leapt up 1,000 places in a day, and I've noticed some wild fluctuations in link numbers for Reynolds and Malkin. One possible explanation for all this is that NZ periodically cleans out the
, and bloggers purge their systems of spam, which alters the ecosystem's distribution and also changes the "species boundaries," which are probably based on statistical algorithms. The splog purges would tend to impact highly linked blogs more than those of us in the lower life forms, because the larger hit counts are more attractive to the spammers.
I'm not an expert here, and I'm not even sure how splogging works, but from a statistical standpoint it makes sense.

No, something goofy's going on. Mine's gone up, too.

Wow, I'm a Marauding Marsupial now. Oh, if I only were a higher life form...

I'm up almost 1,000 spots. Everyone can't be moving up.
I think there is a bigger explanation out there.

I hit
number 3 at one point. Unfortunately, it got corrected...

This happens now and then. It seems to shake back to where it was before in a week or so.

Now Michelle isn't even listed! Jawa has dropped one spot, to 19th, and I've risen another 300 places (plus the 1000 I'd already piled up). Definitely something screwy.

Don't take my Marauding Marsupial status away!

Dude, you've like, "companion posted at Demosophia" at least 1300 times though. I've counted.
hahahahahahahaha

Yeah, it'd be great if TTLB counted that, but unfortunately it all counts as one link. :-( And since I'm on the blogroll anyway, it's all worthless in terms of the ranking. Now, if it were 1300 separate blogs that'd be different.

Same on mine, which was up to "Flappy Bird" for about a day and a half. It's back down to "Slithering Reptile" now.

OK, I admit it. Something is really screwed up. My "inbound unique" links dropped in half overnight, yet I'm still listed as a marauding marsupial and I continued to
move up in the ecosystem, and my average daily visits suddenly leapt up by 50%. Total nonsense.

I dropped 8,000 places over the weekend.
My placing is probably more accurate now that my numbers more reflect the number of links that I am amare of which is about 15 and not the 102 the ecosystem seemed to think I had. I wonder if it was counting links from my posts to my blog.
As disheartning as it might be, I would rather have an accurate reading of where my blog stands, which apparently is pretty darn low.
