Like, George-Galloway's-ego huge. It will be
big.
Remember Eason Jordan, the CNN News Director who shot off his mouth at Davos, claiming that US troops were targeting and killing journalists? Yeah, you know the guy, he had absolutely nothing to back that up (of course) and the Immedia began howling for him to release the tape of his remarks to clarify what he said. And the dude resigned rather than give up the tape.
Well, it's happened again. A local TV newsman named Mark Hyman has caught Linda Foley, the International President of the Newspaper Guild, making the same sort of scurrilous charges against our troops that Eason Jordan did. But unlike Jordan or Foley, Mark Hyman has the tape to back it up.
Of course Hyman probably would have just noted this on his local TV station and people would have said "My, that's awful" and that would have been the end of it, but the Immedia has now immortalized the story and is spreading the news right now directly into your brain. The bodacious, the audacious Bryan Preston of Junkyard Blog has the links, the scoop, and the analysis and I see a well-deserved Instalanche in his future. I see a well-deserved act of contrition and an apology to the troops in Ms. Foley's.
Speaking of targeting journalists, Ms. Foley's timing is amazing. Who would have thought the Mainstream Media could put two bullets right through its own foot in such rapid succession?
1
The only shame of it is that the troops actually aren't intentionally killing these enemy propagandists. These scumbag reporters go out of their way to help the enemy's cause, therefore they are traitors and should be shot.

Washington hawks whose feathers were ruffled over the the frenzied case for war against Iraq are venting their wounded pride on George Galloway, whose opposition to the US-led invasion gained him a seat in the British Parliament.
Why is Washington spending so much valuable time and energy on who bought oil from Saddam? The man is in prison and his assets have now been frozen by Bush.
The US Senate should concentrate on more pressing domestic issues such as the economy, instead of trying to throw the spotlight off the Administration's own substantial mistakes.

Mark Hyman is a local TV newsman? Seriously? Last I heard, he was the spokesman for the Sinclair Broadcast Group.

Well I guess it's not that huge so far, nobody seems much interested here at any rate.
When are you going to stop pretending? That would be huger.

I just wanna know why they make accusations like this. And where they get their information. It's prolly just a fantasy of theirs.

Ed, that's the silliest comment I've seen - except from greg. The UN oil for palaces scandal is literally the largest financial scandal in the history of the world. A scandal that corrupted the UN security council itself.
Of course it should be investigated.

Another thing that Ed hasn't been paying attention to is that there is an investigation into possible vote fraud in Georgeous George's election.

My view is that Norm Coleman, the Republican chairman, stayed cool as the Respect MP lambasted him and his colleagues for traducing his reputation, poured scorn on America's "cavalier" attitude to justice and flaunted his own reputation as a man of peace who had opposed UN sanctions - "infanticide masquerading as politics" - and an illegal war based on a "pack of lies".
But you had to wonder whether the hour-long session was worth the transatlantic flight. Mr Galloway, under oath, insisted he had never benifited from any oil sales, a point he has made in successful libel actions against various newspapers here in the UK. He scored several points. The easiest was when he retorted that he had only met Saddam twice - not "many times" as the committee claimed - the same number as Donald Rumsfeld when the US was backing Iraq's war against Iran. Mr Galloway recalled that he had condemned the Ba'athist dictatorship "in the most withering terms". But he was impassive as Mr Coleman quoted his famous TV salute to Saddam's "courage, strength and indefatigability". British observers often admire the work of US congressional committees, comparing them to toothless Westminister equivalents. Yet this was a poor and ill-prepared display.
If there was a chink in Mr Galloway's armour it concerned his friend, Fawaz Zureikat, the Jordanian contributor to the Miriam charity appeal who documents did show trading in oil with Iraq. The MP would not say whether he would have been troubled to discover the source of his largesse. But of proof of wrongdoing on his own part, there was none.
These exchanges may not have settled anything definitively, but they did serve as a reminder of the passion and fury that is still generated on both sides of the Atlantic by Iraq's unfinished war.

Also,
The opprobrium heaped on George Galloway, MP for Bethnal Green & Bow, by much of the British media is shameful. However much one might disagree with his views, the man is an elected representative of the people and should be allowed to defend his reputation.
One wonders what the US media and Government's response would be if our own Foreign Affairs Committee were to invite US Vice-President Dick Cheney to explain the role of his old company Halliburton in scooping massive contracts in Iraq.

must say i did laugh my arse off watching george galloway the other day. he's hates here in the uk but still he knocked those guys out.
on another matter i found this post on my music forum quite interesting and i thought i'd share it with you
Alledgedly, the Yanks will be steaming into Iran very soon... possibly by the end of June !!
The usual reasons will be given, war on terror, axis of evil, their development of nuclear weapons, oppresion of their people, etc...
The real reason though, is oil, but not in the way you might think !!
Since approx 2000, the Iranians have been planning to set up a European oil burse, so they can trade all of their oil through the European stock exchanges. They plan to stop trading their oil in Dollars and start trading it in Euros !!
The reasons are:-
A - They dislike the USA & all they stand for.
B - Economically, this would have a serious effect on the USA's economy, causing a potential crash of the Dollar !!
The strength of the Dollar is maintained artificially because the world oil markets trade in Dollars !!
Alledgedly Dubya, has already signed off on taking serious measures to stop this Iranian plan happening. The Iranians have built up very good relations with Russia & China !!
These are dangerous times people !!
Maybe !!

im comparing galloway to the likes of Hitler and Stalin cause just like them he smiles as he lies and denies that he did anything wrong or knew of anything wrong while he holds his dirty hands behind his back...and he has the oil that his buttbuddy sadam gave him for helping him out...galloway is as dirty as anyone ive seen....he was involved and he has the nerve to act all innocent just like a common street punk criminal....and im an idiot???....better read up on some books, boy....you don't seem to know very much...galloway is the reason US troops had to go to Iraq and depose Saddam...sure, the US backed him when he went to war against the Iranians back in the 80's, he was the lesser of two evils....but seems ole Saddam got too big for his britches and he had to be brought into line....his buddy Galloway tried to help saddam out of a mess and saddam gave him some payoff bribes...dirty, dirty, dirty and this dirt doesnt wash off

IDIOTS!
THE DOCUMENT LINKING GALLOWAY TO THE FOOD FOR OIL SCANDAL IS A FORGERY
http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/galloway.html
Take a close look at the way Galloway's name appears in slightly smaller and fainter type, and the way it is slightly crooked, inside a supposedly computer-generated document. One wonders whose name is under the white out. Is it Ahmad Chalabi?

Oh, by the way, Galloway sued a Briitish newspaper for slander on these charges and won a $300,000 award.
There is no merit to the accusation.

puzzled, the attack on the Palestine hotel was not a deliberate targeting of journalists. The tank commander in question thought he was firing on Iraqi spotters. The allegations of deliberately targeting journalists as journalists is without any evidence at all.
Greg, British libel law is different from US, so his win there has little to do with the truth. Also, his lawsuit was based on a different set of documents covering a different timeframe, it is not vindication of the more recently discovered oil-for-food documents implicating Galloway. You are refering to the earlier documents.
But of course, you are too stupid to have noticed these facts.

"the attack on the Palestine hotel was not a deliberate targeting of journalists... etc etc"
Quite right Robin Roberts. Of course everyone knows that journalists hide, aid and abet terrorists and have them for sleepovers in their hotel rooms. That's how come all those Iraki bloggers hang with them. Aiding and abetting. Tsk, tsk, bought it on theirselves they did.
If you could right a decent rebuttal, Robin Roberts, you might have mentioned these well-known-facts, or were you "too stupid".

For those who are not as ignorant as greg and interested in the matter, British courts are known for being friendly to plaintiffs in libel actions, so much so that courts in New York and Maryland have refused to enforce judgments from British courts in libel cases on principle because British law is so friendly to plaintiffs as to conflict with our First Amendment - one court decision calling British law "repugnant" to our public policy.
But greg is of course, too busy rooting the joos out of his basement to know the difference.
