Terrorist Choice in Vehicles Used for Sgrena Escape Plan: A Truck!

UPDATE 4:05 Central time: Italian television station Tg1 reports that a car was used. I have pictures up here. Not sure which report to believe yet.....

This important and overlooked new detail arises. If you have seen as many jihadi videos as me then you know that the vehicle of choice is the small Japanese pickup truck. Check this WaTimes article out:

The left-leaning Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported yesterday that Mr. Calipari decided not to use available escort protection from the elite commandos who protect ItalyÂ’s Baghdad embassy.

Instead, he rented an inconspicuous pickup truck to recover Miss Sgrena, wrote La RepubblicaÂ’s top investigative reporter, Giuseppe DÂ’Avanzo.

A freaking truck? Are you kidding me? You rented a pickup truck to drive down a road where terrorist are known to attack daily?!?!!

The vehicle has been located and a preliminary investigation reveals that "Something that car did caused the soldiers to fire."

1 Could someone please answer this. When Sgrena was released to the italian agent by her captors she said she heard and saw a helicopter hovering above. Who's was it? She said she thought it was American. If a helicopter was there why did it not capture or kill her captors they are after all TERRORISTS. The more you read the more you think something stinks I for one do not believe there was a helicopter there its just too much to swallow So many questions so many contradictions

2 I noticed the thing about the truck, which stuck in my mind because Sgrena recounts that there were several people in the car and the agent throwing himself across her, either of which would be awful darn hard to do in a pickup truck.

3 sparky, just because a helo was overhead doesn't mean that the helo crew had any clue what was going on below.

4 true robin im just trying to absorb all the info i posted earlier that i didnt think americans knew of her release therefore i doubt they tried to shoot her or anyone with her on purpose we can speculate all we want about what happened it wont change anything but a lot of what she is saying doesnt make sense. If italy didnt want anyone to know of her release just incase something went wrong, which would be understandable, they would keep the info until the last minute and this in turn is why communications break down and maybe thats why they were shot at.

5 I just got a great deal on used cars that I wanted. It was tough making a choice which of the used cars to buy, but I did it.
