You knew the Taliban would try to make some noise this spring. Despite the “massive” (cough) offensive” the only thing they have accomplished so far is getting killed.
Yahoo News: KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - U.S.-led coalition aircraft killed up to 80 suspected Taliban militants in a night airstrike in southern
Afghanistan, the coalition said Monday. The local governor said 16 civilians also died.
A coalition statement said it had confirmed 20 Taliban killed in the attack on a suspected Taliban stronghold in the village of Azizi in Kandahar province late Sunday and early Monday, while there were "an unconfirmed 60 additional Taliban casualties."
Kandahar Gov. Asadullah Khalid said he believed 60 militants were killed, as well as the civilians.
Complaints about civilian casualties were strong. However NPR reported that one man admitted that Taliban fighters were using his rooftop (they did not post a link because that was positive news I guess). My advice to any civilians is; when the Taliban show up, get the heck out or run them off. If you support them and feed them, then make your will and stand where you are. Remember a key part of the terrorist strategy is to claim mistreatment at every turn. This is to distract from their use of terror, beheadings, hiding behind civilians, posing as civilians, targeting civilians, you name the war crime they do it openly and somehow escape the fearsome MSM.

But according to the twisted reasoning of the Left this just proves we're losing the war because if we were actually winning it we wouldn't have need to kill any Taliban.

Kind of an idea which is outdated, that of civilians being somehow exempt from war, when it is behavior of civilians that causes war. In a long bygone era, rules of war were tidy and polite and well-mannered, came from the British. Now it's an all-out fight and much of these clean fighting ethics from a bygone era have been dropped, at least by the enemy. That is why it is time to drop the pretenses, pick up the nuke and lob it towards mecca!

We musta been using those "smart bombs" The ones that kill only insurgents but are smart and only wound civillians. The spring offensive also coincidentally takes place after the opium harvest. That is something that both sides agree is worth fighting for control over. Especially since only a very small amount will reach the USA. So where does it all go ? Mostly it goes to Pakistan and to Iran. So it seems that we are in a stand-off here: we are addicted to oil BUT we are in control of the drug that Iran is addicted to. smart bombs hurt civilians because terrorists hide among civilians hoping we won't try to kill them because of all the bad press collateral casualties will generate among the Leftard community. Thus it can be said that in the GWOT terrorists are our enemy abroad and Leftards are the enemy at home. I regret collateral casualties, but I don't apologize for them-- that's war, so Leftards can shove it.

I think it is shameful to scoff at a loss of life; i do not support terrorist organisations in any way, but the way that this post seems to mock them and treat the "up to 80" deaths this lightly is terrible. Even hardened combat soldiers do not show this contempt.
