Smartland, and itinerant blogging

I saw a link to this long essay by Orson Scott Card--quite possibly one of the best anti-idiotarian Mormon sci-fi authors out there--at Way Off Bass a while back. Since then it's shown up all over the place and I finally broke down and read it. Why didn't I just listen to Cam when he first posted it? It's a great tying-it-all-together piece, and probably one you're going to e-mail to your family and friends.

Since Rusty's back from DC I will be blogging less here in Jawatown, but I will be showing up over at Patterico's Pontifications in the coming week or two while he studies for some kind of big test. I'll still pop up here now and then throughout the summer. I'm just like some sort of blog hobo, wandering around and posting on other people's blogs. Anyway, thanks for reading, commenting, and linking and I'll talk at you again real soon.

1 Guess what? I GOT A REAL FATWA! I am now an official enemy of Islam in the eyes of Allah, eventhough I don't have anything against Islam (Should it change my point of view on things? Hell yeah). The Finnish Society of Muslims has announced an EU-wide fatwa against me and kicked me out of Islam because they noticed my change of religion was just a joke played on them, and that I publicly showed blatant disrespect to them for taking my conversion seriously. roflmao. Beat you to it, Rusty, and my fatwa is actually from a real Muslim leader. Perhaps I should apologize to them though, my deed was quite cruel for the people desperately trying to fit in and be accepted, and finally getting a ray of hope in the form of a Lutheran convert...

2 Fine, so it's not a death sentence-fatwa, just an announcement that no Muslim should ever respect me or be in friendly/neutral contact with me ever again and that they should let me know how much this kind of things hurt them.

3 Kinda like leaving Jehovas witnesses and meaning absolutely nothing to your fellow cultists afterwards.

4 Fatwa, fatwa, fatwa, fatwa, fatwaaaaaaaaah! This is so exciting. I'll let you know if some Muslims come by to try beat me up. (Even 10:1, they don't stand a chance)

5 Finn, the first four posts on a thread certainly has to be some kind of record.

6 Finn, If you get a chance, please describe the Fatwa process. I'm totally ignorant on this subject.

7 Apparently, country-level Islam leaders can issue public declarations, fatwas, against people who have committed foul deeds against Islam or Muslims. I got a letter with "some-gibberish-markings Fatwa Rangaistusilmoitus" written in the topright corner, saying I'm out for good and that I'm not wanted in any Muslim community in Europe. Then there was a picture of the ex/half Somalian whos the "king of Islam" around here, his signature and some round waxstamp with writings in Arab symbols.

8 A true statement from greg finally ... "I'm totally ignorant on this subject." Hint, greg. You are ignorant on every subject.
