See-dubya's Electioneering

Rusty's too polite to make a big deal out of this but that's why he has guest bloggers. The weblog awards are being voted upon this week and the Jawa Report needs your help for best conservative blog. How many other blogs on that list actually, umm, do something, umm, take down posts about terrorists, because, umm...whatever it was Rusty did here?

It'll take you two seconds and it's nice for Rusty to get noticed. So start out here and vote for the Jawa. If everyone with posting rights at the Jawa actually votes we'll win in a walk.

Best Humor/Comics blog? The Hatemonger's Quarterly and Iowahawk are very different but both frickin' hilarious. Throw 'em a bone here. (Problem here is that there are so many good conservative humor spots it's splitting the righty vote up. So maybe help whoever's ahead.)

Best Group Blog? No question, it's the Brothers Judd. Great aggregators and a huge output of interesting stuff. Click here.

There are more recommendations with links below the fold. (I'm just going to use this post to vote every day). This must be irritating to casual blog browsers but do remember: the blogosphere runs on applause and attention. Thanks in advance for your support. For best new blog, I like Wuzzadem. He's wacky. Basil's Blog is also a Jawa friend.

Best Blog? Among these big boys I think Michelle Malkin delivers the goods day in, day out. Help her beat Daily Kos! Obi Wan Kenobi, you're her only hope!

Best Liberal blog: Who gives a rat's nut?

Best Photo Blog: Zombie Time is invaluable at documenting bay Area protest wackitude and he risks life and limb to get you the shots of moonbats in a feeding frenzy. Say thanks to Zombie!

Blog Design: Jeff Harrell's The Shape Of Days is looking pretty sharp after his remodeling. Give him some love.

Best Parenting Blog: See Best Liberal Blog, above

Best Law Blog: Patterico, who also has the discernment to let me blog there now and then, and who beats up the LA Times something unmerciful.

Best Euro Blog: I've called Seixon a one-man think tank and I mean it. First realized George Galloway perjured himself during his rant before the Senate. Debunks all kinds of lefty BS. Glad he's on our side.

Top 501-1000 blogs: A toughie because THREE Jawa cross posters are competing at this level and they're all good. Jane Galt runs Armies of Liberation, and takes a lot of crap for her writing about Yemen. Interested Participant and Vince aut Morire are also our guys and they're both top notch. I won't tell you who to vote for here but help a Jawa out!

Top 1001-1750: The charming, the commonsensical, the gracious Right Wing Sparkle gets the nod.

Top 1751-2500: Fullosseous Flap is about much more than dentistry. He's a good guy with a lot of interesting links and thoughts--and lately a very firm counterweight to the 'Save Tookie' wackos.

Top 3501-5000: The oft-linked Garfield Ridge is way out of his class here. He gets Corner links all the time and always has top-notch wackitude as well as sharp defense analysis. I have some reason to think a Technorati glitch has somehow thrown him into the kiddie pool; he ought to be much higher.

Best LGBT blog: Ace of Spades--he's been so brave in sharing his struggle with the tragic consequences of the discount unlicensed Caribbean reassignment surgery. Soldier on, Ace!

1 And if you win? What does that do for you? That gives you the distinguished honor of knowing that you awarded yourself an award. That's essentially what this sefl congratulatory stuff does. It manipulates the vote count. See if you were really the best conservative blog (which you may be), you wouldn't need to drum up support.

2 Aaron's got a point. Are we the 'best'? I mean, certainly the sexiest, definitely the 'biggest' if you know what I mean, probably the blog most likely to actually get some one fired or convicted, but the 'best'?

3 Aaron, there is no harm in this other than your indignant reaction. The blogs that have been nominated started out with nothing and built a strong base through content that others were drawn to. These are people who, through such a large readership, have also drawn attention to little known bloggers that might otherwise go unknown yet have great wisdom to impart. The vast majority are not the selfish, egotistical bastards you might think they are. The Weblog Awards that have you so chapped are "nominated" by many who blog as well and are little known. One of life's follies is that some deserving people will go unnoticed. For one thing, I'm sure there are literally thousands of young women better suited to wear the Miss America crown but don't end up in the running. Some of us don't care about the distinction of being in this "contest" (or whatever you want to call it) and others like being rewarded by the recognition. There's nothing more or less noble in either position. I read your post on your blog regarding this issue (yes, I found you) and you had some very good points about the role of leadership in many aspects of life, but they prove nothing when applied to this issue. Your argument runs with the assumption that these people are undeserving because they aren't as modest as you think they should be. You're entitled to your opinion on this, but I think you're being unfair to these people. And you're trying to spoil some harmless fun with your remarks here. I think it was uncalled for. To end this on a positive note - I do like that you'll be linking to excellent little known bloggers to draw attention to them. I will check in to see who you've selected. Perhaps some good will come from your chagrin.

4 In the ol' New York tradition - my vote's for sale. So, somebody make me an offer. Can you say eBay? Hey Daily Kos! Got any money? I WILL NOT not take old McGovern campaign buttons in trade!

5 I would have been happy to vote for Jawa, except someone thought it was a good idea to make Macromedia Flash a requirement for voting, and that just won't work for me. Always fun when people think something is a "standard" and don't bother with providing an alternative method.

6 All I'll say is...thanks C Dub for the plug! And yeah, Rusty, we are the best. Remember, we're "special."

7 Thanks See-Dub. From one immodest bastard to another.
