'"Look at the films which have come out of Hollywood the last few years,' he said."
Could he mean Robert Redford's recent re-make of Beau Geste?

Here we go again.
Okay folks, pop quiz time.
Why would Iran set off a nuke in a US city? Why would they do the one thing that would guarantee a US invasion? Why?
The answer is that they wouldn't. Any nuke that gets set off will be set off by a party that WANTS a US invasion of Iran. Of the three major parties to this next war, Iran is the only one that does NOT have nuclear weapons.

Comoon, U.S. has no chance against Iran, they can destroy your entire Navy in an hour with their longrange missiles. You couldn't get any soldiers in there and if you would show any signs of attacking, Eurasia would be cleansed of Americans in a day.

"A new poster had suddenly appeared all over London. It had no caption, and represented simply the monstrous figure of a Eurasian soldier, three or four metres high, striding forward with expressionless Mongolian face and enormous boots, a submachine gun pointed from his hip. From whatever angle you looked at the poster, the muzzle of the gun, magnified by the foreshortening, seemed to be pointed straight at you. The thing had been plastered on every blank space on every wall, even outnumbering the portraits of Big Brother. The proles, normally apathetic about the war, were being lashed into one of their periodical frenzies of patriotism." -- George Orwell, 1984

Ok... Perhaps, this: Making people think there is a threat that can just destroy you in an instant makes them go to the side that is fighting against it?

Greg's first comment on this thread would qualify under my definition of off-topic, as discussed in my comment under the post on banning.
Just sayin'...

Dear Mr. Greyrooster,
Iranian Armed Forces have developed an anti-ship guided missile capability that could sink most of the Sixth Fleet in the Gulf and effectively close the Strait of Hormuz with disastrous effects.
