Package Deal?

Big Ed at Captain's Quarters notices that the threat of a filibuster on John Bolton has been removed. Was this part of the deal?

Hmmm...I may have to rethink this.

1 John Bolton is the final nail in the coffin. He's a joke, might as well scrap the the entire Project UN, and while you're at it, it's about time to scrap NATO as well. These organisations either don't work or suit their purposes anymore.

3 They don't want to filibuster Bolton, they want to DEFEAT him. If 5 of the 7 dwarves from the GOP side of the "deal" vote against Bolton, he goes down in flames. We just saw Lincoln Chafee vote AGAINST Priscilla Owen. We can count on him to vote no. So now we just need 4 more. Snowe & Collins make 3. Just two more. Since we already know Voinovich is voting against Bolton, he might be able to pull in his fellow Ohioan DeWine. That's four. Right there, including Voinovich, we are down to 50 votes and a tie-breaker from Dick Cheney. Can the democRats get just one more no vote? Now you see why they don't want to filibuster Bolton--it just takes one more no vote to outright KILL his nomination in what would be the greatest coup so far against GWB.
