Muslims on Toilets Prohibited From Facing Mecca

Here's another oddity about the practice of Islam which is passed along in the interest of developing an understanding of the everyday lives of average Muslims.

From The Sun Online:

Jail bosses are rebuilding toilets so Muslim inmates don't have to use them while facing Mecca.

Thousands of pounds of taxpayers money are being spent to ensure lags are not offended.

The Islamic religion prohibits Muslims from facing or turning their backs on the Kiblah -- the direction of prayer -- when they visit the lav.

Muslim lags claimed they have had to sit sideways on prison WCs.

But after pressure from faith leaders the Home Office has agreed to turn the existing toilets 90 degrees at HMP Brixton in London.

Jeez, with stuff like this going on, one would expect there to be a thriving community of Muslim comedians. And, what in the heck does a Muslim do in an airplane lavatory? I don't think it's possible to sit sidesaddle on an airplane toilet.

1 Of coarse they have no problem with beheading another muslim or blowing up thier holy shrines. Heaven forbid they have to face the same way as mecca while on the toilet. Racist pigs...

2 Yes it does raise important questions about rental accomodation, when muslims move to new countries and rent an apartment or something, how does that work. What if they go to a public function, which way is mecca. What about camping, what if it gets foggy and your out in the open, forgot the compass and your lost, which way then? Are there laws in islamic countries, imposed by local authorities in the construction of toilets in new houses. This is all too much, i need a break..

3 I wish they would stencil Mecca on the inside of the Toilets. British Dhimmi's are good Dhimmi's!! Seriously, what happened to hard time? even in the U.S prisons are becoming lax -- they are even discussing letting criminals play computer games, and bringing in DVD's. I think the guy who runs the county jail in Arizona should become the head of the U.S penal system.

5 Instead of moving all the toilets, wouldn't it just be more expedient to remove Mecca from the face of the earth ? A Muslim is below the dignity of a toilet anyway.

12 I have heard of those new computers that allow you to smell the subject you are viewing. Or, do you just have a scratch and sniff from Hustler Larry? It could be your upper lip. I think that is why I.M. states lefturds. They smell like crap, and their brain is full of it.
