Mr. Blagojevich Sign this Bill

From my Illinois Republican Newsletter

ILL Senate Republican Leader Frank Watson :Senate Republicans are urging the Governor to sign the “Let Them Rest in Peace Act” to allow an Effingham soldier to “Rest in Peace” during his funeral later this week.

Warrant Officer Second Class Christopher Donaldson, 28, was among 10 people killed in Afghanistan when a helicopter went down during combat operations.

The “Let Them Rest in Peace Act”, which was unanimously approved by the Illinois House and Senate, would place restrictions on protests at military funeral services in Illinois, by prohibiting loud and inflammatory protests within 200 feet of all Illinois funeral services beginning 30 minutes before a funeral, during a funeral, and 30 minutes after the funeral. The measure, which currently awaits the Governor’s final approval, would safeguard the right of families like Warrant Officer Second Class Christopher Donaldson’s to bury their loved ones in peace.

The “Let Them Rest in Peace Act” was crafted in response to a series of disruptions at military funerals in Illinois and nationwide by members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., a fundamentalist church group at the burials of soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. The original House bill was held in the Senate Rules Committee by the Senate Democrat leadership until Senate Republican members drew attention to the issue and a compromise was reached.

2 What needs to happen is for some anonymous, masked person to emerge from the crown with a shotgun and kill some piece of shit leftards. A good liberal is a dead liberal.

3 There is no reason for holding such a protest at a funeral except to be mean. The only reason one would do such a think is to torture someone who didn't do anything wrong. The people doing this bring discredit on their entire agenda. I am seriously starting to believe that the left is being taken over by the mentally ill.

4 Fred Phelps and the Westborough Baptist who does the protests are a far right religious extremist group. Why a Democrat would not sign this PDQ I have no idea. There are constitutional issues with these laws. So it helps to get as many versions out there for testing as possible because it may take a few tried to get one that works and is also acceptable to the courts.

5 OK, so first off - he signed it the minute it hit his desk. Second, it was championed by his own Lt. Gov. And finally, calling the "Rev." Phelps a "leftist" couldn't be farther from the truth. How many "leftists" go on and on about their hatred for gays? Read some time.

6 It had not been signed at the time of this posting. So I'm not sure your description of "the minute it hit his desk" is accurate. So where did I call Phelps a leftists dickhead. Try reading right above your comment some time ass wipe.
