Mexico Threatens Suits Over Guard Patrols

I guess you would call this mucho el Chutzpa....

AP--Mexico said Tuesday that it would file lawsuits in U.S. courts if National Guard troops on the border become directly involved in detaining migrants.

Mexican border officials also said they worried that sending troops to heavily trafficked regions would push illegal migrants into more perilous areas of the U.S.-Mexican border to avoid detection.

UPDATE: Mexico, ACLU Preparing Lawsuit Against US Over Guard Deployment

A representative from Mexican President Vicente Fox claims that if the US National Guard troops detain illegal aliens crossing the US-Mexico border, the Fox government will file a lawsuit against the Bush Administration in US federal court.

There are some political observers who believe that the American Civil Liberties Union is preparing to assist the Mexican government in such a lawsuit. In fact, the ACLU sent a statement to the Mexican government regarding their stance on immigration enforcement.

1 Doesn't say a whole lot about Mexico: "I would rather take a week to walk through the desert, and risk death, capture by US athorities and attack and rape by bandits, than remain in Mexico." Your country must really suck! Lets just annex mexico and be done with these games.

2 It's hard not laugh at this stuff, but these jokers are serious! Help me get this straight. They're going to sue the US because the US needs troops on the border to stop the illegal invasion from mexico?? Do I have that right? So we have no right to station troops on the border to protect our national security? Since when does mexico decide when and where we use our own troops? I can't believe we're even disussing this. It's just so stupid.

3 Yep ,you've got it right and it's not from Scrappleface.

4 Dear God! How long would THAT be tied up in court? The problem that is so terrifying to me... They would probably win! Just think about the U.N. getting involved. What right do these Mexicans have to tell us what to do on OUR side of the sandbox to keep THEIR people out? NONE! Pehaps they need to scrape the debris from their own side as we clean their trailing refuse from ours! I am absolutely incensed! Ol' Fox can shove it for all I care! Bring on the Troops!

6 It's time for us to grab our rifles and head for the border, boys. It's either going to be a shooting war or we can just abandon our country to foreign occupation.

7 JJ Calm down - don't get all bug-eyed yet. Have not been able to verify the topic story yet - suspect it is either false or a gross mis-interpretation. The fact that it was an incredibly dumb and stupid thing to say made me suspect. The topic is overheated right now and a lot of people on all sides are looking to play with other peoples heads.

8 Let's see, 190 million more illegals in the next twenty years. America as we know it gone. Yep, J.J. is correct, start inforcing the border with force of arms. I'm in.

9 I'm headed down there in two weeks fellow Jawas. A week with the Minutemen will help me decide what I must do, but I'm as mad as I have ever been in my life. And I intend to do something about it, not just sit on my ass and watch my country go to hell.

10 Sounds like a job for the ACLU!

11 Should be interesting. Forces of government vs fences and the Minutemen. Could be another Waco ...

12 Yes, Larry, it could be another Waco, but this time, the rest of us won't stand by and watch the government gestapo murder its own citizens. My loyalty is to my country and its Constitution, not the government. If the government attacks, it will spark a revolution. I say it's about damn time; we need to throw out the garbage and start over again anyway.

13 Time to declare war on mexico and put a end to their bullying

14 Whaaah hoooo! Bring 'em on!

15 I find it interesting that reports of vehicles carrying many (like 25 in a pickup here in Illinois) illegal immigrants either being captured or involved in accidents have increased since their demonstration day. The story mentions also that Mexican immigrants are increasing their efforts to cross because they want to get on this side in case amnesty is offered. This is a much better use of our troops. And the desert training will be put to good use one way or another.

16 I KNEW it. The ACLU will actually sue the government that makes its existence possible. And US taxpayers will pay for the lawyers. I need to hit something.

Posted by: Richard at May 18, 2006 07:11 AM (7KF8r)

17 Shit! I'm in Cancun. Need to get out of here before I get sued for spending my money below the border. And money is what its all about. A point being missed. All the money the illegals and legals send to Mexico. The Mexican government doesn't give a shit about mexicans. They do give a shit about the money they send home to their corrupt economy. I still prefer tacos over chitterlings.

18 IMy suggestion to Mexico is to ask Castro to take over their country. Then ALL of the Mexicans would be welcome because they would be fleeing communism.

19 John "It's the same, but different" Ryan weighs in again: Wouldn't that only be if they reach the shores of the United States, John?

20 Just as I said, sounds like a job for the ACLU!

Posted by: Jesusland Carlos at May 18, 2006 08:32 AM (8e/V4)

21 I don't see how the government of Mexico has any standing to file a lawsuit against the US Government in Federal Court. If this was common, governments from all over the World would have our court system clogged for the next 500 years. The Federal Courts should throw any such lawsuit out for lack of standing.

Posted by: jesusland joe at May 18, 2006 09:21 AM (rUyw4)

22 Guess we should start calling them the MCLU. Get it? MC......Oh, never mind

Posted by: REMF at May 18, 2006 09:50 AM (7RMSi)

23 The U.S should welcome a lawsuit filed on the behalf of Mexico against the U.S, it would be a prime opportunity to counter sue the Mexican Government for expenses incurred due to their stealth policy of assisting their population in circumventing U.S law.

Posted by: davec at May 18, 2006 10:37 AM (CcXvt)

24 How about a class action lawsuit on behalf of all legal citizens of the US? We are being knowingly damaged by the mexican government. Think the ACLU would take that one??

Posted by: Richard at May 18, 2006 04:33 PM (U+YqD)

25 davec, I'll countersue the bastards. Great idea. And also countersue the ACLU while I'm at it.

26 Strange how I felt so good until landing at Henry Armstrong airport in New Orleans. I know why they call it the city of the blues. It gives you the blues. The one hour drive back to gulf coast Mississippi seems like 10 hours. Stopped at Cafe Mesparo in the French Quarter for some shrimp and calmari on the way home. The place was packed. The other restaurants were mostly empty. Most of the cooks and bartenders never missed a beat. They went to San Francisco and worked until the restaurant reopened. Enjoyed themselves. Earned a good living. Seen a interesting city. Another group, pissed and moaned, demanded money, robbed businesses, stole all they could, spend the days standing in line for (free money) sat on their asses and accused the government of racism, etc: Now they are demanding that the good working people in other parts of America buy them new homes to replace the dilapidated junk piles they lived in before. Why???? because they chose to spend their welfare money on malt liquor, chicken wings and gold chains instead of insurance. Yea, yea. I know. Anyway. My new house is just about completed. Thx to Allstate and the $3000.00 per year I spend on insurance instead of beer and $150.00 tennis shoes. Not to mention crack. Wonder if the president of Mexico knows why Mexican citizens want to leave his country?

27 How about suing mexico and VINCENTE FOX for the mess and damages left by all those illegal aleins?
