Louis Rukeyser Dead at 73

When I was just a wee lad my Grandfather on my Fathers side always watched two programs that stuck with me. One was the McLaughlin Group, the other was Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser. When Wall Street Week dumped the ailing Rukeyser for two empty TV heads from Money Magazine I stopped watching.

NPR : John Ydstie has a remembrance of straight-talking business commentator Louis Rukeyser. The author, columnist and television host died Tuesday. He was 73.
Rukeyser.com has a short biography here. Lou I'll miss you

Update : Rukeyser.com :

As many of you know, Louis Rukeyser died May 2 at his home in Connecticut. We have lost a great man who was an inspiration to millions of investors — and to those of us who had the honor of working with him.
All you bloggers out there linking the NYT obit where's my freaking trackback? For that matter NYT where's my freaking TB.

Not really related but this is what I was looking for when I found Lou had passed away. Frank DeFord was good this AM. He asks why are most former Athlete politicians Republicans?

1 Lou Rukeyser is largely responsible for me getting interested in the stock market and later having the nerve to do on-line trading. He made what seemed very mysterious and complicated sound easy enough to understand to convince me I didn't have to be an economist to get it. I'll miss him.

2 He had the wit too. Damn funny strait man I bet he was one hell of a poker player. The lesson he taught me was do it for the long term. Just put away a bit at a time over a long time. It works. I have enough that god forbid should somthing happen I have enough to go a few years and I'm not 40 yet.
