Jordan Captures “Senior” al-Qaeda Leader

We have no word yet on who this subject is but they plan to put him on TV in Jordan this evening. That should be soon our time.

News 24 Amman: Jordan has arrested a senior member of the al-Qaeda in Iraq militant group, a senior official said on Monday.

"The Jordanian intelligence services have arrested an important figure in the al-Qaeda in Iraq organisation led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and his testimony will be broadcast by Jordanian television on Tuesday evening," the official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

The official declined to elaborate on the identity of the detainee or the manner of his capture.

But another Jordanian official hailed the suspect's arrest as "one of the most important foreign operations ever carried out by the Jordanian intelligence services".

You know what IÂ’m hoping, probably not Muscab though. DevelopingÂ….

Update: FOXNEWS is reporting the identity of the terrorist.

The Iraqi, Ziad Khalaf Raja al-Karbouly, was detained by Jordanian intelligence agents and special anti-terrorism forces, according to a government announcement on Jordanian TV.
It said he worked as a customs clearing agent on Iraq's border with Jordan, where he handled stolen goods under direct orders from Al Qaeda in Iraq leadersÂ…

Â…It also broadcast his confession, in which he admitted to being a member of Al Qaeda in Iraq and gave details of some attempts to attack Jordanian citizens, including truck drivers on routes between Iraq and the kingdom.

Not as good as Muscab, but we'll take what we can get.

2 Funny how almost every operative captured is described as "Senior Al Queda" blah blah blah... I won;t be happy till I see Mu-scab's head on a platter.

3 Really, everyone of them seems to be "senior" or a "lieutenant" or a "leader". Yeesh.

4 Sigh, bummer. But still significant Al-qeada had an operative inside the border control.

5 As soon as one guy gets arrested, a different guy takes his place. Then he gets arrested, and another guy takes his place. Rinse, repeat.

6 Lets blow up a mosque in Iraq to celebrate. But wait! You say, if we did that every time a "senior al-qaeda official" was captured or killed, we'd be blowing up a half dozen mosques a day? Precisely. That was a joke, Howie. Don't have a heart attack.
