It Don't Matter To Me, If the Sun Don't Shine

A line from one of my favorite bands of the '60s that no one ever heard of: Bread. And it don't matter to the Western Media (according to Wretchard) just exactly who wins a conflict:

Of all the weapons of the insurgency, it is their ability to set the public terms of the debate that has proven the most powerful. Their model of fighting a combined media-arms campaign has created an alternative reality which Western opinion-makers unconsciously inhabit.

And why is that, exactly? The truth is, there are more important issues than whether or not the sun happens to be shining at a particular time. But you'd never know it by reading the NYT. They're pretty much all about the atmospherics.

1 Alternative reality is what Bush and his scared aides inhabit. One aide was so scared to tell Bush of the damage Katrina wrought that he had dry heaves after entering the Presidential no-news bubble.

2 I think DSM is really a Perl script. Probably Perl 4.

5 BTW Demosophist, I've heard of Bread. We loved them way-back-when. You must be old too.

6 Bread was also one of my favorite groups and I played their love songs many, many times when I took a girl to the drive-in. Oops, I know, what's a drive-in? Ah, if only you knew! Demosophist: the efforts of the NYT and the MSM in general has everything to do with Bush Derangement Syndrome. They have no concern about how many people get killed, how many lives are destroyed, or what might be best for the nation. Just as long as they can embarrass or strike Bush in any way, they are happy. Whatever the destruction, they think they can just pick things back up and be able to govern. One of the things the Left does not understand, but should, is that they have created a situation in this country where they will not be able to govern. If Hillary wins in '08 she will be in a predicament. The Left will have used hate to gain a victory, and payback will be extreme.

7 Misa, Wow, I went to your blog and really liked it. Great site! DSM, Flying Monkeys make great skeet. I shoot them all the time. At least, that's what I think I'm shooting.

8 The NYTimes is now openly criticizing the WaPo for their opinions on everything Bush-related simply because the WaPo didn't jump on their bandwagon.
