Iraq Foils Plot to Put Terrorists at Posts

Was this the so-called "Tet" offensive we have been hearing so much speculation about?

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The Iraqi interior minister said Tuesday that authorities had foiled an al-Qaida plot that would have put hundreds of its men at critical guard posts around Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone, home to the U.S. and other foreign embassies as well as the Iraqi government.

1 I am not sure which is the scarier statistic, that this was one signature away from execution, or 421 Al-Qaeda recruits were actually in place inside a single Iraq battalion.

3 According to an MSNBC report they are in the process of rounding them up but wouldn't give details so as not to compromise the op.

4 I have yet to work out why he is on trial? Was it for his actions [Al-Qaeda operative] or inactions [failure to notify about the 9/11 plot] ? I think this guy is seriously unhinged, anything he says, he retracts as fast as it's published.
