Indonesian Market Bomb Kills Eight

(Palu, Indonesia) The Indonesian government issued warnings that terrorist attacks against Christians were likely during the holiday season. And it has happened.

From the BBC:

At least eight people have been killed and 45 hurt by a bomb blast at a market in Indonesia's Central Sulawesi province (map), police say.

Witnesses in the town of Palu reported seeing bodies lying on the ground after hearing a deafening blast.

The bomb exploded in the busy morning hours at a stall selling pork in a largely Christian part of the town. [Added map link - ed.]

In another report, Central Sulawesi police chief Brigadier General Oegroseno said, "Up until now, the number of victims is 60. From that 60, 53 are injured, seven have died."

The bomb was packed with nails and ball bearings. Another bomb was reportedly found and defused. Bloodied wounded were carried to passing cars and taken to the hospital.

No specific responsibility for the attack has been declared, but the province's Christian population has been repeatedly attacked by Muslims. It's reported that twelve people have been apprehended in connection with the attack.

I'm certain the attack wasn't prompted only because Christians eat pork. Eating pork just triggers the hatred that fanatical Muslims have for non-believers in Islam. In that regard, fanatical Muslims are not that much different from fanatical vegans, although, to my knowledge, the vegans haven't resorted to murder. Food despots are, first and foremost, despots.

1 Since muslims believe in blood debt and shared guilt, Christians should start killing muslims in revenge at the rate of about ten to one, because it's the only thing the animals understand.

2 I have a friend who lives in Indonesia, and when jawa reported about the beheaded schoolgirls, I asked him if he was not scared of living there (he is a Christian) he told me that he had not heard on the news that they were beheaded, just that they had been brutely murdered. Obviously the Government / media there spin the stories in an attempt to nullify another "holy war" To my knowledge IM there have already been Christian vs. Muslim war in Indonesia, in the 90's? guess of course who was blamed for starting it? not the peace loving Muslims, that's for sure!!

3 Maybe if Israel wasn't so mean to the paleostinians they wouldn't be doing this. Or maybe U.S. foreign policy is to blame. Everybody BUT the perpetrators is to blame for this if you're a muslim or a Liberal.

4 The interesting thing about this to me is that jerks like John Gibson and O'Reilly think there is a "War against Christmas" in the USA, because salespeople were instructed to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas."

5 Gibson and O'Reilly are just ratings whores, like everyone else in the media, and will say anything to get people stirred up. I've been hearing "Happy Holidays" for as long as I've been around, and that's almost 40 years. I think Christian fanatics are just trying to push this as far as they can so as to scapegoat atheists and create an excuse to impose an intolerant religious doctrine on the country.

6 Agent Smith heard someone say, "Did he say, bomb?!"

7 Actually, I think Christians in the USA, like myself, are tired of the intolerant rhetoric that comes from anti-Christians and the "happy holidays" criticism resulted. I suppose we ask too much when we ask to be recognized and respected the same as we wish for everyone else. This is awful about the bombing. Killing people for the religion that they keep is sick.

8 Rep, Christians are the vast majority of the populace, whereas atheists are less than 2%, and this is a democratic republic, therefore, we control nothing, and Christians control everything. Also, tell me when was the last time atheists went on a rampage of murdering Christians? Sorry, that's a trick question, because it's never happened, but Christianity is soaked with the blood of millions upon millions of innocents. You might want to get your eyes examined, because it looks like you've got a beam stuck in them.

9 Is anyone here but me wondering what happened to the pork? The ghastly nature of this attacked is being severely undercut for me by this vivid mental image I'm getting of a devout Muslim bomber getting pelted with high-velocity bacon bits.

10 Agent Smith says the pork was all bought up by the Hormel Corporation during the franchise wars.

11 Improb, I'm not going to allow someone to put me in a burka because of their religion, nor will I ever let someone shove me into the closet because of mine. And if you actually believe that Christians are going to "impose an intolerant religious doctrine on the country", then I've got a giant tin foil hat with your name emblazoned on it where that is concerned.

12 Hey Rep, don't try to bullshit me you fanatic, I used to be a Christian and I know what Christianity is about, and it's no different than any other religion in its ultimate goal; total dominance. Why else would you fight so hard to get the ten commandments in public buildings and prayer in schools, not to mention the idiotic doctrine of Intelligent Design, which as someone else put it, is the intellectual equivalent of throwing a virgin into a volcanoe? They're nothing but religious doctrine, and you're nothing but a liar if you say they're anything else, but then, lies and deception from religous fanatics is nothing new. Christians would get rid of the Constitution and replace it with the ten commandments in a heartbeat if you could, because it's the only thing keeping you from taking over. Don't try to bullshit me, I know more about Christianity and every other religion on the face of the earth throughout human history than you could possibly imagine. I've studied them all in depth, and between Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, there's not enough difference to mention, except that Christianity was heavily influenced by Western paganism and Greek philosophy, even though early Christians tried to destroy every bit of Greek and Latin literature they could get their hands on, including when they murdered the philospher Hypatia and burned the library of Alexandria. Don't fuck with me, you're not smart enough.

14 Mr. Maximus, I must take exception with some of the things you said in your post. First of all, I doubt that "most" Christians in the US would be interested in forming a 'religious republic' based on the 10 Commandments. What most Christians want is recognition that the 10 Commandments and other Christian traditions played a major part in the founding of this republic. We do not want to force our beliefs on anyone, or most don't, but, of course, there are the few who seem to gain notiriety by making statements of the kind you refer to. They are not the majority. And I will totally disagree that Christians have never been attacked and murdered in the millions by non-believers. For example, thousands if not millions of Christians were murdered by the Romans before Constantine became emperor. Many other millions of Christians were murdered in wars of genocide against Christians by the Seljuk Turks as they moved into Anatolia. Countless other thousands and millions were killed by Attila the Hun, Ghenghis Ghan, and various other Goths, Visagoths, and Germanic tribesman. The genocide of the Muslims against Christians beginning in Christian Syria, continuing into other parts of the Middle East, following into No. Africa and Spain, and culminating with the conquest of large parts of Eastern and Southern Europe by the Ottoman Turks, took tens of millions of Christian lives. So yes, wrongdoing was practiced in the name of Christianity, but you are wrong in many of your assumptions. I see a clear difference between Christianity and other religions. I think the doctrine of Jesus, where love and forgiveness and grace are the central tenets, is vastly superiour to other religions. My opinion, of course, but that is why we have a free country, and it is why I value yours, even if you do disagree with me.

16 TK, that's BS and you know it. I don't hate Christians, but I damn sure don't trust anyone who believes in a big, angry, invisible man in the sky and sets their agenda according to what their imaginations tell them he wants them to do, which usually includes killing people who don't believe.
