"I was tortured", Saddam Whimpers in Court

From MSNBC:

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Saddam Hussein interrupted his trial Wednesday to allege he had been beaten and tortured while in U.S. custody and still had the marks on his body.

"I have been hit by the Americans and tortured," he said during his trial on charges of crimes against humanity. "I have been beaten on every place of my body, and the signs are all over my body."

Thank you to all those whose short term political goals have so watered down the definition of torture that this senile old mass murderer thinks wearing the same underwear for three days qualifies.

Evidently, the marks are all on the back of his body.

2 Why is this guy even allowed to speak. He's on trial, not a speaking tour.

3 I think his whining is not going to help him.

4 This is the circus the liberals wanted. That is why Saddam should never have been captured alive. He was bound to be an embarrassment. I'm sure his liberal lawyers have advised him to say he was tortured. What a fricking farce this has become.

5 Ah i see the ol bastard has learnt from the experiences of terrorist child killers. He like them will have staunch (also spineless) support, not only in Iraq and palestine, but also in America and other western countries, from those who choose to live in western countries but think of themselves as 'world' citizens. You would have to be living in a cave on another planet not to know how concerned some of us are about the fate of terrorists, are they warm, good blankets, lawers, fair trials, do they get warm meals, their rights, anything else we could get for you mr terrorist. All the ol bastard has to do is squeak about the odd beating from the hated Americans, just watch for the leftists start braying about his rights and compare the Americans to one of their beloved socialist murderers. I say hand him over to the iraqis, i don't know why the americans are holding him, just hand him over to the iraqis, he may grow to regret these accusations as the iraqis decide to create a lot of evidence.

6 Given the chance, I would send him to Kirkuk and give the Kurds complete control over his fate. Perhaps Mr. Hussein would receive just a tithe of the pain he has delved out.

11 MatthewK: "...just watch for the leftists start braying about his rights..." There are already those complaining bitterly about Saddam's trial being unfair and "illegitimate". Look no further than our liberal universities and their denizen. This piece, back in October, by Joshua Karstendick at Drexel University is slathered with anti-American drivel and ill thought out assumptions. It's absolutely sickening. The money quote: "Defiant. Prideful. Tie-less and thinner. Saddam Hussein has been called many things after his appearance in court Wed. Oct. 19 but few people have called his attitude justified. Who wouldn't be defiant when their life is in the hands of an illegitimate court that has no concerns for the rights of the accused?"

12 who knows about Ataturk? i have talked to many Egyptions and Turks about the middle eastern wars and a few believed that if Saddam had been left he may have been another Ataturk and brought his country together, instead of the way it is now. If America hadn't interfered with Iraq the country may be slowly becoming one independant country, instead of having blood shed practically every day. Well I don't even know if THAT'S true. I'm an Aussie and NOT proud of it. What I AM proud of is loving Islam and Middle Easterns. I have many muslim friends, males included, and NONE of them believe there are 71 virgins up in the sky. THAT is a lie told to extremists to make their actions more worthy. Extrimists are not evil. They are, well... extreme. They have views that apply to so many people and they are sick of being ignored and so are drawing attention to what they want.
