Help Troops Keep It Cool

Found this on Conservative Thinking this morning. Adopt a soldier, help out buying cool scarves for our boys and girls sweating it out in Iraq.

Soldiers Angels We have heard from many deployed troops this week, everyone has the same thing to say,

IT IS HOT!! It is hard to think...

I would like to get cool scarf to every hero on our list, THE TEMPERATURES IN IRAQ ARE WELL OVER 100 DEGREES, and will stay that way till SeptemberÂ….

Â…We have over 12,000 heroes on this fourth deployment.

The scarves cost 1.20 and the shipping is 1.12, about 2.50 ea.
So in order to do this we need 25,000 dollars, not a small feat but these scarves help to keep their brains cool and offers comfort to our heroes.

Drop a picture of Mr. Lincoln and that covers two of our fine soldiers.

Personal note and update below the break.
Bloggin by Howie will be light for a couple days. Got a few things to put behind me to earn blog time.

I just got finished talking with my co-worker from Malaysia. His son just returned from Afghanistan. His son got adopted by some realtor lady in the Windy City while he was serving that last tour. I mentioned the website to his dad and he said she was great. He received all kinds of cool stuff. So much stuff his mom got a little jealous of some “other woman” taking care of him so well. But they say it was a great thing and they really appreciated the extra care.

1 What they want Howie is a cold beer and a cool pond to go skinny dippin' in - neither of which is readily accessible ( I'm not even touching the subject of "fraternization"). This is one incredible hardship posting in ways you can't imagine!!! Hell with the scarf - when the guys come home - show them a good time! Old story - years ago got stuck on a long deployment in the Sinai .... desolate hellhole - boring!!!! 3 R&R options ... a controlled tour of the pyramids a controlled tour of the Holy City of Jeruselem an uncontrolled visit to Berlin needless to say ... I have never seen the pyramids or the Wailing Wall ... but I have seen n' done things .... WHOA!

2 Hi I am a blogger from malaysia and I was wondering if you could put me in touch with your co-worker from Malaysia whos son served in Afghanistan. It would indeed be a proud honour for me to highlight someone from my country who has done us proud by helping to liberate the people of Afghanistan. Our governments conduct in allowing the innocent people there to live under the boot of the Taliban has been inexcusable and I am glad at least someone with a relation to our country is making things right. Cheers
