French man runs away; film at eleven
Dave has the details, and a link to a cool clip. Apparently there's a new French movie (not yet available in the US of A) about this kid who runs away from a group of thuggish attackers. He performs amazing feats of runnning away from these goons and goes to astounding, dangerous lengths to avoid confronting them. Instead of kung-fu fighting them, or riddling them with hollow-point bullets, this French hero leaps from tall buildings, throws himself down stairs and through windows, and hopes his enemies hurt themselves trying to catch him.

It's called "Banlieue 13", which is French for "National Allegory".

oh what would you do without the French? You really have nothing better to do? Why don't you go do something productive, like find an upstanding arab-american business owner and shoot him in the face.

Is that what passes for witty repartee in your country, mustafa?

The title of your post instantly reminded me of a joke:
A French general asked, "Why do you English officers all wear red coats? Don't you know the red material makes you easier targets for us to shoot at?"
In his bland English way, the major informed the general that the reason English officers wear red coats is so that if they are shot, the blood won't show and the men they are leading won't panic.
And that is why from that day to now all French Army officers wear brown pants.

Mustafa,
The only ones killing Arab business owners are the Arabs themselves--all in the name of "Allah"

Mustafa, what do you have against business owners? I mean this is also a pro free market site, right? Right? So why can't we shoot upstanding arab-american socialists in the face? Well, I'll tell you why. There is no such thing as an up standing socialist. Now bow to your Scott Baio icon and leave this place.

Seifer, It's a cheap chauvinistic surrender joke. We give you guys a hard time over here now and then. Obviously, exceptions apply, Lafayette's an awesome dude and thanks so much for the statue in NY Harbor--she looks lovely. Thanks for checking in.
Mustafa, I'm glad to hear that wasn't intended as witty repartee, because as witty repartee, it sucked.
Oh, and your mom called. She's converting to Judaism.
