Danish Paper Caves to Islamic Fascists, Apologizes

The newspaper which carried the originally 'offensive' cartoons has caved. My feeling is that the Danes will never cave. So, continue to buy your Danish pastries, beers, and porn. I'd lay off purchasing the latest copy of Jyllands-Posten, though.

Via Is Full of Crap this from JPOST:

A Danish newspaper on Monday issued an apology to the world's Muslims for publishing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad that sparked a furor in the Islamic world.

The drawings "were not in violation of Danish law but have undoubtedly offended many Muslims, which we would like to apologize for," the Jyllands-Posten's editor-in-chief Carsten Juste said in a statement posted on the paper's Web site.

Meanwhile the cyber jihad continues with numerous websites that have defended Danish freedom of expression suffering under Denial of Service Attacks.

1 DDOS? *heh* Not here, pal. Unless Allah can saturate 30+ gigabits with advanced DDOS defenses. I'm Jewish. I'm Texan. I'm Zionist. They already want me dead.

2 So why are we not running this cartoon on all our blogs?

Posted by: Filthy Allah at January 30, 2006 03:35 PM (5ceWd)

3 Run the cartoon, Rusty. All day, all night, all the time. Piss on the pedophile prophet. I'm sick of their crap.

4 Note the carefully worded response. They didn't apologize for the cartoons, but they apologized for offending Muslims who were outraged by the cartoons. Since when have we had to apologize for offending people?

5 Jyllands Posten may have apologised, but the citizens have not/will not. As a matter of fact, 'free speech' advocates are resisting in many creative ways . . .see http://viking-observer.blogspot.com/2006/01/danish-counter-attacks.html

8 And you wonder why I sit back and watch on this one.

9 "Going down! Going down, down, down, down" - whoa! and I gave them a week! Let's revisit this story in a couple of days (or hours).

10 I think IÂ’m with Hondo on this one. IÂ’m not from Missouri, but I gotta be showed. Like I said, I would support the Danes if they stood up for themselves. But the paper caving in so early in this struggle is not good news. Rather it reinforces the image I have of a culture that will not stand up for itself because of political correctness. That same paper would run a derogatory cartoon about our President and would never, never apologize. IÂ’m afraid anyone leading this lefty crew of Europeans in the charge is going to look behind himself and find that he is alone. I hope IÂ’m wrong, but I need to see them do a little more fighting for Denmark.

12 What support? What are you talking about? Who the F*** are you?

Posted by: hondo at January 30, 2006 05:29 PM (3aakz)

13 They didn't completely cave in. What they said is they were sorry for offending Muslims, they never apologised for publishing the cartoons.

14 What time is it?

15 Prayer time for Danes?

16 It's time for a whuppin.

17 Thanks for posting on this topic. The Danish newspaper which published the original cartoons has been forced to apologize. The Brussels Journal blog which has led the reporting of this attack on free speech is now receiving threats. Given the state of free speech in Europe as evidenced by the Italian "prove Christ existed" case, I expect Brussels Journal to be forced to remove the cartoons and their reporting. To guard against that possibility, I have reposted the cartoons and the Brussels Journal reporting thread on my blog. I urge all bloggers who care about free speech to do the same. 19 From a letter from a Dane to Charles at LGF: If you know the story of the Muhammed cartoons, then you would know that the Jyllands-Posten has ALWAYS said it regretted offending muslims feelings. Todays “apology” simply says “we’re sorry for hurting your feelings”, but they do not apologize for publishing the cartoons. Your source is wrong in its understanding of what has happened. Here's a link to the entry: http://tinyurl.com/78b2v I don't think the paper caved over free speech at all: they were simply restating their position, (Nice blog, btw. I found it through LGF.)

20 This article from FrontPageMag says that a Pakistani Islamic party has put a price on the cartoonist's head. And here I was all set to make with the snark about how progressives were probably going to congratulate the mullahs for not issuing a Rushdie-style fatwa this time.

21 I think some posters here have it correct... The "apology" was carefully worded... You know, "Dick Durbin Style", as in "I am sorry if I offended any of you who took offense."

22 I guarantee that in a year or two none of you will even remember this non-event. I have forgotten it already. So you can keep your freedom of speech and ram it up your religious asses. Not Interested.

23 These insulting cartoons were meant to emotionally harm Muslims, which they did and has made the racists/secular fundamentalists on this page happy. It was correct for Muslims to condemn and protest these filthy cartoons. Danes have forgotten manners and common sense. These cartoons have no connection to free speech and will make zero impact on Islam. The whole exercise is a complete waste of time and effort.

25 I have been reading about these cartoons, but I haven't even been able to find them. Who cares what these people think about some idiot who ran a high fever in the desert and claims to have spoken to God. Poverty and dispare keep this people confused and clinging to a crude religion. We would all be safer and happier without the Koran!

26 Kent, You are so right!. Actually,I would say it a ittle less harshly...it's a tragedy that millions of people have been hoodwinked by Mohammed's game-playing , territory-conquering manipulations. He designed a new "revelation from God" to fit every new thing he personally felt like doing in his quest to seek revenge, and grab land. It's incredible that it has become a major religion, but Nazism was one too. They are actualy rather similar in nature. Mohammed cleary had copies of Jewish and Christian writings, and he obviously repeated/edited them, twisting them to his own self-serving ends. All people would indeed be better off without the Koran , and no one is helped by pretending to be open-minded about it in order not to offend.

27 Listen you political noobs, here's the distilled ejaculate: There have always been Muslim extremists, just like there have always been Christian extremists. If you gave Pat Robertson $1 billion in arms per year and told him to launch a holy war against all non-christian invaders, you'd end up with a spreading plague of Pat Robertson deciphals armed to the teeth, killing anyone who didn't agree with them or slighted them, spreading their form of totalitarian religious facism (all the while believing more and more that God must be with them since their gains are ever increasing) and keeping moderate Christians (95%)stomped down with intimidation and threats. So what's your point, Wart? Hello! This is EXACTLY what we did in Afghanistan. The CIA, through Pakistan, directly supported the overthrow of the Russian puppet government in Kaboool via huge shipments of arms to whom? Namby-pambi Afghani poppy farmers? No, dumbass, by supporting the extremist jihadis that came from all corners of the globe to kill infidel Rooskies. They networked. They trained at training camps using CIA help. They recruited with powerful messages and promises of virgins (I personally fucked all the virgins in heaven and gave them herpes, so jihadis are all dying for nothing). Then the raggedy Arab bastards won and drove Ivan out of the house! Yes, Allah is great, we won! Look what I said...Allah is great. Not the USA is great for supplying us with arms...Allah supplied us with arms. This is an important distinction, and we were very willing to go along with that Arab delusion in our attempt to camoflage from Russia who was supplying the arms. So, now you've got all these way extreme jihadis from around the planet with noting to do, all networked up, CIA trained and armed to the teeth. Mix well with a helping of Osama and Ayman who have been kicked out of every Arab country that wasn't prepared to accept their brand of extremism, and what do you have? Two sides of the fire triangle, dumbass. And then, what did the USA do? Got pissed off at Pakistan for nuclear arms proliferation and cut off all military and most economic aid. This highly insulted the Arab jihadists. Then we flat left Afghanistan with no government, no aid, no stabilizing force. Thanks Bill Clinton, you cheating cum stain. And guess what, we continued to buy arms for jihadis for several years after the Rooskies left! So ask yourself, what did we win? Well, I doubt that the USSR would have tumbled as soon without getting wiped out in Afghanistan. They still would have fallen as their military spending was even more unsustainable than ours. But now we have jihadis everywhere. What is a mother to do? The answer isn't to hate Muslims and the Koran, although I must say the Sharia law is unsustainable for a modern culture and is by and large a disservice to Islam. 90% of Muslims live in fear of the 10% of extremists, just like if Pat Robertson thugs ruled the Christian world. The Muslim extremists really do believe that they are right, and that anything short of Taliban or Wahabi lifestyle anywhere on the planet is unacceptable. Anywhere. They will call anyone, even fellow Muslims "infidels" if they don't practice the most extreme form of Mullah Omar branded whackoism. Now, in all fairness, we have supported oppressive, elitist, totalitarian, nepotistic Arab oil governments forever. This has done nothing but make the poor in these countries bitter at us, the ones stealing their natural resources and propping up their abusive, oppressive and repressive governments. These disenfranchised A-rab poor are ripe pickings for Wahabi-Talibani-Whackos. "So what is the solution, Oh Well-Read and Wise Uncle Wart? Please tell us what to do so we don't have to think for ourselves." The effort must be manifold my dear, lazy ignoramuses. 1. Get going on an energy policy that will make totalitarian A-rab governments less important to prop-up. Yes fatass, this means you will not be driving that SUV, that you will pay 15% more for an Energy Star home, and we will be burning sawgrass and corn ethanol in our tanks. All along, apply continuous pressure for fair and just elections in oil rich Arab nations while gradually removing our reason for having to prop them up, even if they refuse to change. 2. Fix the Isreal/Palestine problem. Of course, that is not possible with the current Hammas. But eventually Isreal will have to cede most of their West Bank settlements and give up on owning Jerusalem. Jerusalem must become a triumverate Christian, Jewish and Muslim city. 3. Work to assist the disenfranchised in the Muslim world and give them the tools and education they need to succeed or at least not be desperately poor. This is gonna be tough if the A-rab governments aren't changing in unison. 4. Propaganda. We don't use it enough or properly. 5. Eliminate maddrasses everywhere through support for education. The only book used in many of these schools is the Koran, and memorizing all 6666 lines of it is all many of them do-along with preaching extremism and intolerance. No longer will it be legal for male children to only get a madrass education in places like Pakistan. 6. Spies and intelligence. OMG. We are months to years behind in translating Arab intercepts, and have almost no spies in the Muslim world. We need these people to help us prevent extremist flare ups and identify and locate extremist Muslim leaders and 7. Kill them. Yes. Bloody and inhumane, but letting them live to terrorize is even worse.
