Damned Doper

Patrick Kennedy off to rehab!

Yahoo News :WASHINGTON - Rep. Patrick Kennedy said Friday he was entering treatment for addiction to prescription pain drugs after a middle-of-the-night car crash near the Capitol that he said he had no memory of. "That's not how I want to live my life," he declared.
Unfair you say? Seems pretty dog gone fair after the leftÂ’s feeding frenzy against Rush last week. Ha! Shoe now on the other foot! IÂ’m sure that somehow a Democrat on pain medication is just not the same though and we should have sympathy for Mr. Kennedy. In fact, Rush is standing up for Kennedy.
Caller To Rush Via Rush: Now, what you just mentioned about Patrick Kennedy, even though he's a Kennedy, and even though, you know, we all know about his family, and you're at odds with the Democrats, you're showing true compassion for the man's well-being, and you shouldn't be admonished for it. You should be commended for it.
Now arenÂ’t you all ashamed of yourselves? Talk Left and a few others were not too hard on Rush, so a few were fair but of what I read that was a pretty small minority.

1 It's not the dope, it's the coverup.

4 It's unfortunate that Rush makes headlines and this goes unmentioned by the MSM. However, I do hope that Rep. Kennedy is able to overcome this.

5 I'm not defending the guy, but Ambien mixed with other drugs that cause drowsiness can really do a number on you. You can walk around for hours doing strange things and honestly have no recollection of what occured. I don't think he's lying, but he was irresponsible. If I recall correctly, Ambien is a controlled substance,(class 4?), and a hypnotic, but not a narcotic.

6 I feel bad for anyone who struggles with addiction. And he has trouble with depression too. But I do have a problem with the events of the night. Capitol hill Police cleared the scene and took him home? They simply acted as enablers. I know that "membership has its priviledges" but this is ridiculous. Considering the volitile atmosphere of politics these days too, I'm not inclined at all to believe that a prominent Republican would have received the same level of compassion that Kennedy has from both sides of the aisle.

7 Yeah, addiction can be a bitch, especially when it gets in the way of your drinking and whoring and causes problems like this.
