Congressional Black Caucus Sitting On Katrina Donations

The Cybercast News Service reports that the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which severely criticized the Bush administration for its slow response to Hurricane Katrina, has yet to distribute one penny of money contributed to their own relief fund:

"We are collecting all the way up through the very end of the year and then our board has set aside a committee who is going to administer the funds," Patty Rice, spokeswoman for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF), told Cybercast News Service on Wednesday.
This seems like a particularly lackadaisical attitude for an organization whose members have repeatedly gone over-the-top in condemning government response to the catastrophe:
"We have witnessed something shockingly awful and that is the lack of response, the quick response, from our government to those Americans who are suffering [and] who are dying," said U.S. Rep Jesse Jackson Jr., (D-Ill.) on Sept. 2, four days after Katrina made landfall on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

"I'm ashamed of our government. We don't want another Iraq, where the money just goes off somewhere. This is real human need. And I'm outraged by the lack of response from our federal government," U.S. Rep. Carolyn C. Kilpatrick (D-Mich.), said.

Cybercast New Service also reports that in September, CBC Foundation told reporters that they had already collected over $700,000 for Katrina relief. Apparently someone miscounted, because now only $400,000 is waiting to be distributed. And will continue to wait until at least February.

1 The other $300,000 is probably in someone's pocket.

4 Wonder how much of that relief will go to the [mostly white] victims of Katrina in St. Bernard, St. Tammany and Plaquemine Parishes?

5 Would the pot-kettle analogy be out of line with regards to this news?

6 1) Who would be idiot enough to send money to a charity fund set up by politicians? 2) Was that ALL they were able raised?

7 I wonder if Dad is giving Jessie Jr. and the board advice on managing this money. Why do I think the administrative costs will turn out to be rather high for this charity?

8 Haha, Brad! The advice Jessie is giving his son and the others is a way to divie the money up between themselves without anybody being able to find out. Sickening, but it happens on a daily basis because the MSM makes no attempt to root out the graft in the Democratic Party. This is just the tip of a huge iceberg.

9 Wonder how much of the money will go to victims and how much will go to their 'advocates' as 'campaign contributions'? One would think that this would be a pretty major story. But, as others have pointed out, the BM has absolutely no interest in covering the dems if it might POSSIBLY cast them in a bad light.

10 Maybe Kanye West could give his opinion on this.

11 The body-politic of blacks is slowly starting to wake up and realize that they're being had, and more are coming over every day. The dhimmi's days are numbered and they know it; they're backed into a corner and are fighting for their lives, but all they can do is spit and scratch. They will soon be totally inconsequential.
