Comedy Central Censors South Park

Michelle Malkin has the story. She includes a clip of the censorship as well as this link for feedback to Comedy Central. And Michelle has open comments on this post so go go and express your dismay.

Ok let me get this strait, Muhammad handing Peter a helmet = offensive enough to censor.

Jesus and Friends Crapping on George W Bush = not that bad.

Is the world a F*^&ed up place or what?

Others Volokh Conspiracy and In the Bullpen.

Add this Image from Republicanjen. Hat Tip: Dr. Rusty Shackleford.

I'm sooooo pissed off too!!

1 Radical islam, not "Bush", is the greatest threat to our civil liberties today.

2 They're gamblers man...they're playing the percentages Offending Christians =OK Zero percent chance they'll hunt you down and chop your head off. Offending Musliims =Not OK. 50/50 percent chance they'll hunt you down and chop your head off.

3 It's a sorry day in America when even Comedy Central censors it's own programs... We should all thank them for giving in to Islamofacism!

5 Comedy Central was more concerned about their income than sparking violent protests. CAIR most likely made it known to the network that they had their boycott threat form letters printed and ready to send to their sponsors.

6 CAIR most likely made it known to the network that they had their boycott threat form letters printed and ready to send to their sponsors. Perhaps so, but in that case the best they could have done for business would be to write a snarky letter back reading "I don't 'CAIR' what you think. Get it? 'CAIR!' Get it? 'CAIR!' Get it?" Nope, I think it was the fatwahphobia.

10 Today, I re-posted the Momeathead Cartoons entirely out of spite. I feel much better now.

11 I predicted this last week. Do you really think the liberal assholes at Comedy Central really want to piss off their new found friends the Islamofascists? And these Muslims here in the US would do nothing. Nada, not a damn thing. But they are being encouraged by displays like this to see that violence and threats of violence gets results. I also predict this will encourage the bastards to ramp up the rhetoric.

12 Thanks for the link love, Rusty Comedy Central totally pisses me off.

13 I'm lovin' all this! As I said before, terror & violence does work with some people. Those that bend over can hummmmener hummmener all they want - they have effectively telegraphed how whoosy and gutless they really are. Laugh at 'em.

14 I suppose they did it out of "respect" for islam.

15 Seems reasonable to me.

16 After viewing the video and thinking with all the hype- is this a huge advertising ploy to just get more hyped interest? who's being duped? makes me wonder which maybe exactly what- who wants?

17 I think some of you are missing the point. Matt and Trey knew CC would censor the Mohammed part, but would air, without reservation, the "Jesus and friends crapping" part. It was a direct dig at CC. Think about it... Cartoons of Mo cause Muslims to riot all over the world, and many people die. Jesus and friends crap all over Bush etc... no riots, no deaths... nothing.

18 >>>Seems reasonable to me. If it were true. But it was out of fear, not respect.

Posted by: Jesusland Carlos at April 14, 2006 08:08 AM (8e/V4)

19 >>>It was a direct dig at CC. I see your point. But christians still don't like their faith being dragged through the shit so atheists can make digs at each other. Show some "respect."

20 I think Christians have a right to be offended by depictions of Christ defecating on the president. And it is important to remember that they have made no threats of violence against any person or institution that has offended them. A Christian boycott of Viacom, Comedy Central or South Park would be in the best traditions of American democracy. By contrast, the threats and violent acts of some Muslims are outrageous, and must be condemned. However, Carlos, if you really want to see disrespect, look at atheists. More Americans say they would not vote for an atheist for political office, regardless of his positions, than any ethnic group, gender, or sexual orientation. Christians get state recognition of a key holiday. More than 70 parents have lost custody of their children in America simply because the judge thought they would be better off with their Christian parent. Imagine, for a moment, if 70 christians had lost their children because they were christian? I could go on--the point is, the broader society is far more "disrespectful" of atheists, who are a distrusted, disliked minority, than this fictional "war on christians" who make up the vast majority of Americans. There is disrespect directed at some fundamentalists, and yeah, as Medved's book points out, many Hollywood liberals are not fond of Christianity, but in the larger scheme of things, atheists get the worse deal.

21 I think the cartoon was offensive and I dont blame Christians for their disgust. A much more realistic cartoon would have shown Bush crapping on Jesus and the flag...

22 You got that right Charlie! Although I doubt South Park is on many Christians list of late-night entertainment.
