Christian Tracts Found in Dubai

chick_moon_god_tract.JPG

Personally, I'm not a fan of Chick tracts. They are usually offensive, always simplistic, and often highly innacurate.

Far worse than Chick's idiotic tracts, though, are laws prohibiting their distribution. There is not a single Islamic country on the planet which allows open proselyzing of Muslims. Not. A. Single. One.

So, is it a good thing that some of these Christian tracts were found on windshields in Dubai? Absolutely. Free speech means nothing if idiots aren't allowed to distribute their garbage. And no man is truly free unless he can openly convert from one faith to antoher.

1 At this time, my goal is NOT that Dubai be "truly free". I understand the sentiment - and fundamentally agree - but I've leave that one alone for a later time - we have bigger issues to deal with. These tracts are an unnecessary distraction/provocation. Sorry.

2 How are CHICK tracts offensive? They are 100% truth. However they need new tracts showing valiant and patriotic Christians slaughtering filthy arab children in this Holy war of the end times.

5 Hondo, I have read several phd papers on allah. Most agree allah is one of many gods the Arabs prayed to at one time. Mohammed made the moon god allah the only god to worship, according to the papers I read. I realize a lot of people do not believe as I do, but I would not cut off someone's head for it, as it appears Islam at this time would. Does the cartoon offend them, or do you just think it is not needed at this time? I am tired of Christians having to wear a card in an Islamic country, or getting killed over Mohammed cartoons. Islam can have their religion here, or in the West, but in their countries Christians have to stay inside their homes during Ramadan. So, I guess what I am really trying to say, is to heck with how the enemy is feeling about a cartoon that tells the truth as a lot of people see it.

6 Dubai ain't the enemy! Fuck the enemy! Dubai has been a friend - OK, so we don't see eye to eye on somethings - so what! You accept that and do right by a friend! Pick your fights one at a time according to your needs and timetable! That's what victory is - anything else is dumb!

7 Chick is 100% accurate? Then all Catholics worship statues and are bound for hell.

8 hondo: Muslims have the right to be offended over cartoons - and because we are "friends" we must recognize and respect their hypersensitivities. And yet, if Christian, we merit no reciprocal respect? This seems like a pretty pathetic "friendship" to me. Call it a strategic alliance, but don't kid yourself by calling it a friendship.

9 The fact Allah may have been a moon God in pre-Islamic polytheistic Arabia sounds like those who point out Yahweh was a minor storm god in pre-Abrahamic Hebrew society. The argument cuts both ways and is in fact not a real serious blow to ones faith. As far as the Chick pubs go they are full of the usual fundy stuff, in general I find there much theology in those things that is rubbish and some that is good. As I have said the best preaching is by ones actions.

10 >>>As far as the Chick pubs go they are full of the usual fundy stuff, Not sure what you mean by "the usual fundie stuff", but even most evangelicals think Chick tracts are way out there. Only hardcore Pentecostal types take that stuff seriously.

11 There are good ideas and there are bad ideas. Sometimes people with good ideas mock people with bad ideas by taking their bad ideas to their logical conclusion. And sometimes, very rarely, people have such bad ideas that they are indistinguishable from mockery. Chick tracts embody this badness. I kid you not. The first time I saw a Chick tract I thought it was a joke. I thought it was the work of some puerile atheist ridiculing Christians. It was only later, after browsing some internet buzz, that I discovered to my horror that this idiot is actually serious. If I were a Christian, I would consider offing this nutcase for setting back the missionary cause 50 years.

12 That pamphlet is "reality" based I see. In reality, some guy pulled that in front of some Arab Muslims as shown, they would have beheaded him where he stood and then took his son behind a Palm tree for some group buggery.

13 ShannonKW - point noted and agreed Heroic Dreamer - you know damn well what I meant. Yeah, your right! So what! Your interested in scoring points - I'm interested in winning - winning isn't everything - it is the only thing!!!!!

Posted by: hondo at May 11, 2006 08:47 PM (SeBrl)

14 hondo - maybe you're right - I'm no expert - the point I'm trying to make is that while I don't think it's wise to walk around intentionally offending I don't see how we win anything by walking on eggshells, ignoring the truth - and the truth is that Muslim countries do not tolerate our freedom of religion. But maybe you're right... placing these little comic strips on windshields in Dubai is like teasing the alligator while still in the middle of the river, and therefore not a good idea.

15 It´s good that you can display such tracts can be displayed in Dubai without having your windshield broken. Dubai has one of the highest GDPs per capita so their progress doesn´t really come as a huge surprise.

16 I love the Chick tracts; they make great toilet reading when you have to pass the time in a gas station restroom.

25 Kill those who are not Christian or Jewish: You must kill those who worship another god. Exodus 22:20 Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own. Deuteronomy 13:6-10 Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you. Deuteronomy 13:12-16 Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:2-7 Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy 17:12-13 Kill any false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20 Any city that doesnÂ’t receive the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah. Mark 6:11 Jude reminds us that God destroys those who donÂ’t believe in him. Jude 5

26 HAHAHAHAHAHAH, you sound like a muslim enabler. Don't you realize the Old Testament ( Holy Q'uaran ) is filled with that sort of kill the infidel rhetoric? If God had a right to wipe out everyone but Noah and his entourage, then why not a village here and there? God finally gave up trying to purge as He realized everytime he pulled a weed that 3 more would grow in it's place. Realizing His error of judgement, He went into retirement, became a kinder, gentler God and sent Jesus Christ to finish the job ... is it inconceivable that God evolves and grows along with His creation? Wisdom in a nut-shell.

27 I concede--IM, you are a master at this. It was laugh out loud funny, too.
