The French said they'd help us take out Saddam at a good time and in the appropriate way, but they had the guts not to jump into an unproductive, reckless conflict at the wrong time. They weren't alone. Most of the world's powers opposed the war, and our coalition has weakened, not strengthened, since the war began. People like to blame "Old Europe" for problems they've mostly nipped in the bud. We can blame America for slavery and segregation, but it's more productive to think about what's actually going on NOW.
