Chad Warns Sudan

Of course Sudan denied any involvement. We need to stop allowing nations who allow terrorists to operate without fear. The government of Sudan repeatedly refuses to cooperate when asked by the rest of the world to stop the genocide and cross border violence. Lack of action against the terrorist equates to support. So these killers are either thwarting the authority of the sovereign nation of Sudan or that government supports them. ItÂ’s time to stop asking Sudan and demand action.

Reuters : Chad President Idriss Deby said on Tuesday Sudan had attacked his country in a drive to export Khartoum's fundamentalist system to sub-Saharan Africa.......Deby accuses Sudan of promoting and arming rebels who raced in pick-up trucks from the east to raid N'Djamena on Thursday but were driven off in fighting that killed and wounded several hundred people.

"Sudan has attacked Chad up to the very gates of N'Djamena. What do you call that if it isn't war," Deby said. "If we're attacked tomorrow, we'll respond. We don't want war, but we'll defend ourselves."

Deby said Sudan's Arab government was trying to export its "fundamentalist system" to the rest of sub-Saharan Africa.

"Chad is a bridge. If that bridge gives way to Khartoum then the whole of sub-Saharan Africa runs the risk of being destabilised," he said."It'll be worse than Ivory Coast or the Balkans," he said referring to other territories split by war.

1 Sudan's govenment is completely dependent on its oil exports. All of the oil is exported thru one pipeline. It would be quite easy for Washington to stop this flow if they wished to do so. However this would also have a negative impact on the many oil companies operating in Sudan. A list of the companies operating in Sudan can be found bt googling " oil companies in Sudan". I tried to provide a link but got the "questionable content" result.

2 I can add it if you send it John. We are being held over a barrell so to speak by a number of things and John makes a good point. Now I'm paying about all I can pay for fuel but.... They need the damn money. Iran is getting 142 million from caviar this year. Every nation around the caspian has declared an end to fishing that body of water except Iran. High prices are good for them. Good for Iraq too. But if we are to stand up and fix the markets we may have to actually do some real conservation rather than just bitch about the price. We may have to stand up to a nation and take a big hit. Either way we can't go on being held hostage we either have to conserve and break the market because a lot of people are holding oil now. Or we have to be willing to stand up and say to hell with the oil and do what's right. It's not pretty I see me buying a mule.
