Bush/Kerry IQ Comparison

Steve Sailer has an exhaustive analysis of standardized tests taken by the two candidates, including SATs and officer candidate aptitude tests, to conclude that, if anything, George Bush is probably a little smarter than John Kerry. The article wanders a great deal, and never quite gets down to claiming a direct comparison, but if I read it right the conclusion is that both men have IQs of 120 or higher, and that Bush's is probably in the range 125-130. In other words both are above the 90th percentile in IQ, but Kerry's is probably in the low 90s and Bush's in the mid 90s. Sailer also draws some conclusions about the differences between how the men are likely to use their gifts: " The subtle difference between Bush and Kerry in two words: Bush is competitive and Kerry is ambitious." Read the whole thing.

1 Scraping the barrel... Which one best represents the American people's interests? That is all that matters. I hate to say this as I support Bush (even though it has nothing to do with me as I'm from the UK) but I saw on a website of a philosophy I subscribe to that they support Kerry... not because he is better than Bush but because Bush is trying to introduce Fundamentalist Christian ideals into his politics... I tend to agree... this is definitely NOT what is needed right now. http://www.peikoff.com/

2 IMO its not needed ever. But saying that W is actually doing that, or is making motions to curry favor with FC's, are two different things. You saw how far the gay marriage amendment got.

5 Bush is definitely a true and artful master in concealing his allegedly high IQ.

6 Bush's IQ is obviously average and nothing more. His lack of control of the English language is all too apparent.

7 This is obviously another of Rusty's joke posts. Like the one about Republicans suing M.Moore over bribing college kids with his undies to vote. But I agree Bush has a high IQ, he makes up new words every time he opens his mouth. The man is clearly almost a genius, you don't see Kerry doing that!

8 Devil: Which one best represents the American people's interests? ....because Bush is trying to introduce Fundamentalist Christian ideals into his politics... The US is a couple of orders of magnitude more religious than the UK. Plus, most of the "analyses" (for instance, by Ron Suskind) that attempt to defame the President on these grounds are little more than nonfalsifiable claims of witchcraft. The not-quite-spoken claim is that Bush is just shy of being one of those guys wandering the subway talking to imaginary people. It's a Democrat election strategy. Mr. K and Jack: You're both right. The President's IQ is only "high" in relation to the general population, but slightly above average for officer candidates (while Kerry's is right on the mean). Neither could probably make it into Mensa, not that that matters. The Presidents with the highest IQ, after the founders Jefferson and Adams, and later Lincoln, were probably Clinton and Nixon. Hoover was probably pretty smart, as well. Matt: This isn't one of Rusty's jokes. It's not even one of Rusty's posts.

9 Amazing. Clinton and Nixon probably two of the brightest and both got caught with their hands (or other members) in the cookie jar. Of course Bush courts the Christian right. It's a counter balance. Kerry courts the NAACP. The black vote is going to the democrats regardless of who runs. The union block is going to vote democratic. Bush has to find votes by going to groups like the NRA and the Christian right. I do believe Bush actually believes in the groups he courts. Kerry is just a fraud. Merely ambitious nothing more. He would flip flop in a minute to get elected.

10 A friendly fisking for greyrooster: "Amazing. Clinton and Nixon probably two of the brightest and both got caught with their hands (or other members) in the cookie jar." I don't think Clinton is really as bright as he is conniving and slimy. Intelligence expresses itself in many different ways, his just happens to be more dishonest. Nixon was smart but not as politically savvy as Clinton, though several orders of magnitude more honest, which is one reason the left hates him so. "Of course Bush courts the Christian right. It's a counter balance. Kerry courts the NAACP. The black vote is going to the democrats regardless of who runs." Remember that Bush's black vote doubled from '00 to '04, which is not a hopeful trnd for the dhimmicrats. "The union block is going to vote democratic." Unions are slowly but surely committing suicide though. Another couple of elections and the union vote won't be worth a stuffed ballot box. "Bush has to find votes by going to groups like the NRA and the Christian right. I do believe Bush actually believes in the groups he courts. Kerry is just a fraud. Merely ambitious nothing more. He would flip flop in a minute to get elected." Yep, that's a fact, and illustrative of the difference between Right and Left. The Right is made up of persons of principle, and the Left is made up of starry-eyed idealists and slimy opportunists. Of course, there is some slight crossover to be found, but not much, as both sides are adept at closing admission to their respective parties to anyone who doesn't pass their litmus tests.

Clinton may have been the only Rhodes Scholar who ever became President, and he's also the only President that I can say with confidence was smarter than me. That may have also been true of others, but it's just harder to know. Herbert Hoover was pretty damned smart too, and look where that got us. I think it's fair to say of Clinton that a lot of unrealized potential was spilled into the drainage ditch.

12 I kind of doubt that Bush has a IQ of 120. Maybe 100, but no higher. His degree for college is a perfect example of how money can buy anything. And you Republicans are so worried that some black might get into the wrong college.
