Bipolar Blogging

I was in a hap-hap-happy mood when I posted below.

Then I read this at Misha's:

WAYNESBURG - A Canton man has been charged with the rape and murder of a 7-month-old infant he was baby-sitting.

Police said Henry A. Sunderman, 32, of 3117 Tuscarawas St. W, Apt. A-3, in Canton, raped and killed his niece, Zoey Sunderman, on Friday. Sunderman was baby-sitting the girl, her two sisters and a brother.

Zoey was the youngest.

She was pronounced dead at Akron Children’s Hospital at 2:02 p.m. Friday. The Summit County medical examiner was doing an autopsy Saturday; it said the case was under investigation and did not release a cause of death. But Stark County Jail records said Sunderman admitted he had penetrated the baby’s anus with his finger, “causing severe tearing and trauma, resulting in the death of the victim.”

I will never, ever renounce my support for the death penalty.

I watched an MSNBC Investigates show tonight on the Wabash, IL level 4 prison. The place had more amenities than the nursing home my mother is in.

F**k life in prison without parole for animals like this.

1 Ironically, it was a case wherein the serial killer did not receive the death penalty that made me realize the importance of the death penalty. If ever any psychopath deserved death, Gary Ridgeway (aka. the Green River Killer) did. The death penalty was used as a bargaining chip to help recover the many, previously undiscovered remains of his victims. By helping locate his victims' remains, Ridgeway helped solve many cold cases. I hope the death penalty will be used as it was in the Ridgeway case, as a bargaining chip.

2 If we went back to medieval methods of punishment I think there would be far less crime. Getting a prison sentence is like getting a vacation where you can eat good and sit around and play cards. Let's make thieves walk around for 6 months harnessed together and for sick sex offenders cut off offending parts and I'll bet you'd see a reduction in these sorts of crimes. Prison is too good for these people. There is no fear of punishment like society had in the good old days before everybody got all sensitive and human rights conscious and all. Human rights is swell, but a scum-bag sack of shit like this doesn't deserve human rights!

3 It has been used as a bargaining chip, much to our detriment. In the Green River case, Ted Bundy used his death sentence as a bargaining chip. In order to delay his sentence, he offered to help find the Green River Killer (a basis for the character Hannibal Lecter, btw)and was interviewed several times by law enforcement. It extended his life, but didn't help find Gary Ridgeway. As a matter of fact, Bundy's life was also extended because other LEF agencies thought he could clear their books of unsolved murders. The time it took to interview him ate up years and years. But, that's neither here nor there. This is the rape and murder of a 7 month old baby we're talking about. There are no bargaining chips in this case. This guy doesn't seem to have a history of anally raping anonymous infants over several years and dumping them in out of the way places. Fry the fucker.

4 Vinnie, are we arguing? Let me be clear -- Fry the fucker and monitor his inbred offspring.

5 But can't it all be made better if he just writes a children's book?

6 I fully support the death penalty, unfortunately it's just not a deterrent to crime. The reason is simple: gone are the days of swift justice. Nowadays being sentenced to death is the equivalent of life in prison because extended appeals and lobbying by death penalty opponents. Once the punishment is declared, it should be carried out at sunrise the next day. Also, the elaborate methods which require lengthy preparations (most notably the gas chamber) should be done away with. Hanging or firing squad is all that is needed. One of the main arguments against the death penalty is the possibility of innocent people being executed. That's a valid argument. In that case, lobby to fix the problems with the investigative and trial stages of the case. The judicial system cannot work if the state is afraid to punish people because it keeps having to factor in incompetence.

7 People who say that murders fear a life sentence more than the death penalty never consider why these animals always appeal the sentences. If life without parole is so awful, why don't they try to get the death penalty?

8 Right on as usual Vinnie. I'm sitting here thinking and I can't for the life of me think of a punishment that would be too cruel or too unusual for the sub-humans who do this sh*t.

9 Some argue in favor of life without parole -- but that does not eliminate teh possibility of future killings -- after all, what are you going to do, keep him in prison for twice the length of his life? I personnaly am a supporter of "death without possibility of parole" -- especially in child abuse cases

10 Nope, no argument here, SheriJo

11 What kind of sick bastard would rape a baby? A freaking baby? He deserves death but then again he won't survive in prison with life without parole. The only problem with the death penalty is it takes 30 years to be executed. If the appeal length was shortened I would support. This monster is enough support for death row.

12 Really, if you let this kind of stuff ruin your day, you should know that things of this disgusting caliber happen every day - and getting pissed only because its brought to your attention is...shallow. But yes, hang him by the neck until he's dead, dead, dead.

13 I don't get it, MiB. Getting pissed "only because it's brought to your attention"? What the heck does that mean?

14 He'll get whats coming to him in prison. No worries. He'll never make it to a parole hearing, if that is a condition of his sentence.

15 I'm not sure about the United States, but in the U.K child molesters are placed in their own section for protection, there is however a flaw in that protection, their food and drinks are produced by general population inmates, and they get to do some rather inventive stuff with their food.

16 DaveC, angry waiters do that here too.

17 Either way that guy is dead. Child molestors are the lowest in prison and are targeted. He will get dahmerized.

18 That is so true that child molestors have no where to run, nowhere to hide in prison. There is a standard in prison. You are okay in there being a thief, or even murderer, but child molestors don't stand a chance! Talk about honor among thieves. Guess it shows there is a bit of good in everyone, except for child molestors!

19 the only way this dude will survive prison, with a big if, is if he becomes the sweetie of the cellblock.. tattoo's of breasts on his back, the whole 9 inch.. uh, yards..

20 I have a hard time understanding what bi polar means. does that mean the brain only sees black and white with no grey matter? Not being silly, just interested. how can a sickness get a person out of facing jailtime for child abuse?
