Beheading Mastermind Captured in Iraq

The good news, it just keeps on a rollin! Another of Iraq's most wanted, Ahmed Hussein Dabash Samir al-Batawi, was captured by Iraqi forces. This follows the announcement of the capture of top Zarqawi aide Kassim al-Ani, also on Baghdad's most wanted list.

As Traderrob notes (hat tip & thanks for the image): Dropping like flies, just a matter of time before we nail the big one. And by 'the big one' he means al Qaeda in Iraq's Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

Khaleej Times:

“The anti-terrorism unit arrested the terrorist Ahmed Hussein Dabash Samer Al Battawi on Monday in the Firdos district in the capital Baghdad,” the statement said.

Battawi confessed after he was arrested that he had “chopped off the heads of hundreds of innocent Iraqis” in Baghdad and other parts of the country, said the statement.

1 Hmm...I wonder how he would like a dose of his own medicine. Now that would be justice.

2 This one's head ought to be mounted on the wall in Rumsfeld's trophy room (maybe with a birthday party hat that could be snapped on his cranium from time to time).

3 Confirm the confession, then just shoot him. Poetic justice isn't for animals.

4 Why is he sticking his tongue out?

Posted by: TallDave at May 30, 2006 01:33 PM (M0J/c)

5 "Why is he sticking his toungue out?" Probably because he has mental deficiencyÂ’s. That or the Iraqi's have already started working him over. Something tells me he is going to receive something a bit harsher than having panties stuck on his head. By the way, does anybody notice the similarities between his outfit and KSM's when he was captured? I guess jihadist beheaders prefer simple jami's?

6 Hundred's ?

7 Yeah, John Ryan, he was running the "mother of all beheadings" assembly line in the Land of the Two Rivers.

8 Why do all these evil bastards look like corner shopkeepers?

9 I think beheading "mastermind" might be giving this guy a bit too much credit. If you lack any soul or any sense of humanity, simply plucking someone off the street and sawing their head off seems a remarkably easy task (especially in Iraq). If you can be brainwashed as easily as these people appear to have been then I wouldn't give them a whole lot of credit intelligence wise. If anything it seems that to qualify as a terrorist "mastermind" you would have to be practically retarded

Posted by: texag03 at May 30, 2006 02:38 PM (30NJA)

10 He looks like another moon god worshipper to me. It also appears he has his hands tied behind his back. All he needs now is a white cloth over his eyes, and someone yelling behind him Allah Akbar! ROPMA

11 I don't think they're any more retarded than, say, Herman Goerring.

12 I always wondered what happened to the "time to make the donuts" guy...

Posted by: Ray Robison at May 30, 2006 03:27 PM (CdK5b)

13 Hmm. Seat the guy next to Saddam at trial. Give each a sword. See who wins. Then continue the trail with the winner.

14 May I humby suggest exchanging the swords with dremmel tools?

15 note it seems he was captured by Iraqi forces...

16 please don't get me wrong, i'm no apologist for this person (not a willing one anyway...) but i find it difficult to believe he said he'd "chopped off the heads of hundreds of innocent Iraqis".  i can't believe he thinks they were innocent.  how many times have you heard talk along the lines of "we will slit the throats of the infidels!"?  quite a few times?  me too.  and how many times have you heard talk of "we will slit the throats of the innocents!"?  never, i would venture to suggest.

dr. shackleford, you have done much more for the blogs than i have - for which, thanks -, nevertheless may i put to you that those of us that regularly take the msm to task for their dreadful misdeeds ought to make sure our own produce is written to standards waaaaaay above theirs.  this should not be difficult, and would require a little bit more than just a link from the msm to serve as authority for the unlikely quote from mr batawi that you posted above.

17 holy crap, i just saw the sunday times story that you blogged just before blogging this one :-/

18 Perhaps the appropriate "beheading" of this guy would begin with his testicles. Worthess SOB.

19 Last week I got in trouble because of my chum joke about Guantanamo. There are worse down there than the slug known as Kassim al-Ani. Part of the brain lock the West has is our obession with dainty legalities for barbarians. Guys like Kassim aren't deterred by our laws, nor are they rehabilitated once in prison. Putting them in prison is just away to improve their standard of living. I call it welfare for Al Qaeda. Chum. Give it a second thought.

20 >>>and how many times have you heard talk of "we will slit the throats of the innocents!"? jonathan, Well it's not like the government official being quoted is going to refer to the victims as "infidels" and "crusaders" or "collaborators" either. Battawi confessed to the killings themselves, and then the Iraqi authorities characterized the victims as "innocent."

21 What do you mean the good news just keeps on coming.Dont you watch the news,54 more people were slaughtered today,40 or more yesterday, and scores more everyday.Oue troops are dying in endless roadside bomb massacres, and now they are told they have to buy their own uniforms.how is any of this good news?

Posted by: dave at May 30, 2006 08:48 PM (Qd6ws)

22 I don't know why we cannot simply nuke all the Iraq and Iran out of existance? It would solve all of our problems.

Posted by: Jason Bush at May 30, 2006 11:45 PM (F+CUO)

23 Dave!!! WTF. We don't hafta buy anything!!!! We are issued stuff before we are deployed, and it is PLENTY!!What the hell are you saying? How many did Saddam kill per day? Do you even know WTF yer talking about? BITE ME!!!

Posted by: REMF at May 31, 2006 03:13 AM (7RMSi)

24 For a minute I wondered why REMF was going off because I thought that was davec and he just forgot his sarcasm tags. REMF, carry on.

25 Yeah, this Battawi should get some of what he gave, only use those cheap ass plastic knives from some fast food place. Probably take a box or two of them and a full day or so to finish the job, just give each family member of his victims one plastic knife and let them work on him til it breaks, then NEXT !!!

Posted by: memphis761 at May 31, 2006 09:33 AM (D3+20)

26 Excuse my ignorance. But was this guy a terrorist or a member of Saddam's regime? Not that there is much difference.

Posted by: greyrooster at June 03, 2006 05:28 AM (V+JAR)

27 This guy has a twin brother selling t-shirts in the French Quarter of Nawlins. Leftards immediately question this idiots CONFESSION. NO, No, No. Only American Marines slaughter innocent civilians. Friggin idiots.

Posted by: greyrooster at June 03, 2006 05:32 AM (V+JAR)

28 I hope that God is ready to blow the whistle and end this world!
