Do not give up hope. Remember, some of the hostages in Lebanon were held for years. The Hallums' familye-mailed me expressing their thanks to our Jawa Report readers for all your support. Keep the prayers and good vibes flowing people! Xinhua:
An American, who has been kidnapped with a Filipino overseas work in Iraq, is still alive, a Philippine foreign affairs official said Friday.
And here from a Filippino newspaper:Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for special concerns Rafael Seguis said at a press conference that Roy Hallums, the American kidnapped along with Filipino accountant Robert Tarongoy, is still in captivity alive.
"We were focusing on Bobby (Robert Tarongoy's nickname). But I was told that he (Hallums) is still alive. You can ask Bobby," Seguis said.
"He said he heard him and could feel him," Seguis quoted Tarongoy as saying about Hallum (sic), who he said was likely kept in the same room....That last statement is fine by me. The last time I checked, the U.S. has freed hundreds of hostages--most of the time shortly after killing the hostage takers in a brief and one sided firefight.Seguis said Filipino officials tried to negotiate freedom for both men, but the abductors told them to pursue only Tarongoy.
"We told them, include Hallum, (but) they said, 'Let the Americans be the ones to talk to us,' " he told reporters.
