2,000 US Troops Dispatched to Mauritania

So far, I've only seen this AKI report which claims the US has dispatched 2,000 troops to the small Western Sahara nation of Mauritania. Last week, members of the Salafite Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), an al Qaeda linked group which has been fighting secularists in Algeria for some time, killed 17 Mauratian troops.

I know I've said it a dozen times, but if you want to find the hot bed of Islamic radicalism look to Africa. Also, the 2,000 US troops might also want to keep an eye out for Osama bin Laden while they are there. If I had to make a bet on where he is, I'd place it on Africa.

Via Open Source Intelligence this AKI story:

Following the recent slaying of 17 government soldiers in a terrorist attack on a military base in northern Mauritania, the United States has sent a contingent of 2,000 soldiers, as well as helicopters, to the area, the United Arab Emirates daily 'Al-Kalheej' reported on Friday. The US troops will use military bases set up in the desert in Mauritania and Mali three years ago as part of the war on terror.

The US battalion's mission is to help Mauritanian troops patrol the country's northern border with Algeria, where militants from the Algerian extremist formation, the Salafite Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC), have been entering the country. The GSPC claimed responsibility for last Saturday's deadly attack on the remote military base, although the Mauritanian authorities maintain the attack, in which 17 soldiers were killed, was the work of Mauritanian and Mali extremists, linked to a few GSPC and smugglers operating along the borders between Algeria, Mali and Mauritania.

1 Maaaaaauritania... Doesn't ring a bell... Oh yeah, Maurs owned Spain for hundreds of years and got kicked back to Africa after reconquista by -among others- El Cid, "the merciful". Mauritania must be the place they moved to. Or not. If this is for real gimme 100 €/day and I'll go peacekeep there and send you live video with a webcam =) No? Ok.

3 Dispatch all your straight males ages 20-30 and you have found an excellent way to cut population growth and republican voters to an alltime minimum.

4 Mauritania-link... Don't trust CIA-factbook. It's crap. Total crap. Absolute bullshit. CIA is not a credible or neutral organisation, they are terrorists and the manipulative secret government running Usa, and it's information is corrupted and twisted to please american worldview and current Usa politics.

5 Finn, I think you give the CIA too much credit, they have been nothing but a bunch of analysts for many years now, and can barely run their own organization, much less and dark conspiracies anymore. I know that many, if not most people in the world see the CIA as some omnipotent bogeyman, skulking in the shadows and listing in on every conversation, but really, they can't even root out the traitors and spies in their own midst. Inefficiency and corruption have become the SOP for them, rather than cloaks and daggers.

6 >>>"Dispatch all your straight males ages 20-30 and you have found an excellent way to cut population growth and republican voters to an alltime minimum." Finn, that a drop in the bucket to all the Dem voters that have been aborted by Liberals since Roe v. Wade--- it's called "the Roe Effect". It's real, and it's starting to kick in now after 30 years of Liberal babies being aborted. So you see, Liberalism is destructive even to Liberalism.

7 Carlos, that's why they fight so hard to control education, information, and entertainment in this country, they have to have some way to make new liberals since they're all either gay or aborting them as fast as they can. Micael Savage says it best; liberalism is a mental disorder.

8 All of this brings to mind a book that was recently published called "freakonomics" http://www.freakonomics.com/ I haven't read it yet, but I've heard there are some interesting theories about abortion inner city crime. Carlos...about the "The Roe Effect": Short of me googling it, do you have any links on the subject you would recommend? IM: You are most definitely the most paranoid poster I have ever read. Do you sleep at night?
