11 Pakistani Hostages Freed in Iraq

As hostage taking becomes more and more unpopular as a propaganda tool, news of hostages being released in Iraq becomes more frequent. I hadn't heard that these Pakistanis had been taken hostage last week, but I am glad to hear that they have been freed. Other news reports indicate that the three Egyptians and two Indians, kidnapped with the Pakistanis, have also been freed. Pakistan Link:

Insurgents in Iraq have freed 11 Pakistanis workers and will be repatriated to Kuwait within 24 hours, Foreign Office spokesman said on Monday.

Pakistanis were among a group of hostages kidnapped last week and the captors had reportedly demanded ransom in return to release them.

Spokesman Naeem Khan told the weekly press briefing that the freed Pakistanis are now in Basra and will proceed to neighbouring Kuwait for their onward journey to Pakistan within 24 hours.

Reports suggest that the labourers were hired by a Kuwaiti construction company, Al Hamrah and were sent to Iraq a week ago but still have not reached to their destination.

They were traveling in a bus when kidnapped near Nasaryia area of Iraq. The kidnapped also included three Egyptians and two Indians

2 *applause* Well done, al-?????, well done, way to go. Now could you free the minds of your followers so they can get back to farming opium, riding camels and drilling oil?

3 Are they being freed because the ransoms are being paid? I find it hard to believe they had a change of heart and just let them go.
